These stories hit home the most. I’m a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic and though I live a completely normal life now, the years before my diagnosis were the hardest. The heartache and depression mixed with manic mood swings and hallucinations gave me some CPTSD that makes it hard to connect with other people.

I used to work in a psyche unit (frequently, but not exclusively) for a hospital. I met many troubled souls that would and could have hurt me and themselves, but only one ever did. It wasn't the gang member with suicidal AND homicidal ideation or the severely autistic young man who viewed me as some kind of punishment administer for some reason. It was the deeply religious elderly lady whose husband had recently passed away. We were sitting in her room, and after she got up from kneeling to say her prayers she began flinging the chairs in her room around, and while I grabbed her wrists to stop her so the nurses could administer haldol, she scratched my hand, deep enough to draw blood. After she calmed down they sent me down to the emergency department for antibiotic ointment and a band-aid. They didn't even give me a lollipop. Then I went right back up and finished my shift. Occasionally I wonder how she and the rest of my patients are doing now, but it's probably best I don't go trawling through obituaries to find out.

Where i worked was like a hospital unit .i still feel that mentally ill people got treated horribly . Change is happening in most places. I will never forget the tunnels where our washing machine was . I was a smoker so im thf only one who would go down there at night . Its just horrible to think how they had been treated .

I was in a psych ward in finland and comparing those personal stories makes my stay look like I was staying at a 5 star hotel. I have friends overseas and the fact they would very likely get treated like this if they would end up inpatient just because they are SICK feels like it's should be a human rights violation. Even in a case where someone STABS you, if you don't have insurance the US hospital can charge them thousands of dollars. Why is that anything less than a human rights violation?
What even is the purpose of goverment if it's citizen in a mental health crisis, all alone, can't rely on it unless they want to risk being treated worse than an animal? It hurts so much to know how many people are deeply suffering all over the world and their country inadvertedly makes suicide a better option. I can't listen to this ep to the end, I'm sorry.
Your are so very right .as we speak their medication is expensive it's difficult for them . The refund the police means defund them from mental health calls an some send mental health professionals out an police can work on real crime.all to often the mentally ill get shot or killed due to symptoms of they're illness . Some places are already doing this .

I worked in a situation where they where placed on emergency proteve custody .off meds an fresh off the streets .the stories i could tell . Its sad sometimes an its rewarding if they get better .

Is there any way to turn the rain sound up maybe it’s my phone, my speaker I use but it’s a bit faint. I love falling asleep to the rain, especially the real rain with that sound when it hits the roof. Uh there’s nothing better while sleeping 👍💧

I been in mental asylum 14 possibly 15 times nd the ishhhh you will see in there (at times can be quite comical), now don't get me wrong I obviously have a few of my own issues but what I can say is after my last visit (January 2022) I now have PTSD nd am aware since I've been off all anti psychotics since then tht you're probably wondering why now do I have it!? Well I've been woken all the way up tht those places are nothing but greedy mfas acting like they care when they don't!! I'm sure when entering that field of work has good intentions but when you see how broken the whole system is they most likely loose hope pretty fast, they don't help you they usually make you worse PERIOD!!!!
Nd I have PTSD now from last stay cause the s*** I saw those 6 days was unbelievable and to think you are the crazy one so who will believe you, right?? Sorry for the rambling it's just I could go on nd on about these places......

The story of the patient's eyes was horrible
The chiped psychiatric patient does intrigue me. Solid argument, however, if there’s “chip” put into the human body for purposes of governmental studies it should easily be seen via imaging tests eg: CT or MR..unless the doctors are in on it. I performed not belittles is happening especially today’s political climate- no one can shut their mouths these days. Eventually imo this would be leaked to the press not a doubt in my mind!!
