A little background from wikipedia on the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime : In a place known as Den City, thousands of duelists take part in a virtual reality space known as LINK VRAINS, created by SOL Technologies, where users can create unique avatars and participate in games of Duel Monsters with each other. As a mysterious hacker organization known as the Knights of Hanoi threatens this world, a high-school student and hacking genius named Yusaku Fujiki battles against them under the guise of Playmaker. Both the Knights and SOL Technologies are also after a peculiar self-aware artificial intelligence program, who holds the key to a secret area inside the network named the Cyberse World, which the Knights of Hanoi seek to destroy.
Thanks for the reaction! Please react to some live videos of BAND-MAID! There's a bunch of good quality ones on youtube. I'd recommend Play, Puzzle, Take me higher or Moratorium. They're really great live!
This song is going to be the ending theme for Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, which may be why this version is so short. Lots more goodness in the full length version.
I think start over is meant more as a throwback to their initial style from five years ago (i.e. the Maid in Japan minialbum); they've said something to the effect in interviews when the single came out. As for glory, as other people have pointed out, it's being used as the new ending theme for the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime (which takes place mostly in a virtual world, hence the theme of the video). I haven't seen the actual ending yet, but I'd assume this "short version" is simply the TV cut of the full song (which btw is indeed awesome).
Back to the traditional Band Maid sound for this one as was the B Side of Start Over, called Screaming. I hope the next CD will be more of this style as I feel there is still time to stick to what works for them and they are getting better known internationally. If they remain as a band I would understand if the next CD after the one containing Start Over, Glory, whatever that CD will be called, the CD that follows that one, may have many more songs in the style of Start Over.
Damn it, Bass Beer was a minute ahead of me!! Again, welcome back, dude. Thank you for the reaction (this was quick!!). It really sucks since it cuts off right in the middle!! Might want to listen to the whole song since it's more dramatic.
Yes, as you said, Akane can be "busy" on the drums at times, but the same could be said of MISA on the bass. Have you listened to the tremendous bass line that she lays down in "Secret My Lips"? That might qualify as busy. And what about Kanami? Well, she's only playing face-melting lead licks throughout most songs. "Moratorium" is a good example of this when she plays that screaming, old-school wah while Saiki sings the verses. Pure nirvana to me. Yup, these ladies are busy alright. Busy making that very hard rock sound we know and love as BAND-MAID.
DAVE!! I got the 1st “Like” and 1st comment! Yah this is a teaser for the full length that is on I Tunes already. This is their song chosen for the anime Yugioh.
The full version dropped recently (last 24hrs).
