In school we (men & women) should be all given lessons in how to recognize a liar and how to recognize the lies we tell ourselves and ignore the evidence.
Yes, it should be part of the school curriculum. Abuse, of any kind, is pernicious and if you aren’t educated or at least know how to recognize it, naive even, it messes with your mind and it drags you under like nothing you’ve ever known.
Welcome Lisa. These radio dramas are wonderful. Well written stories, great voice acting. And as for the sound effects they are amazing. One gets so involved. Thank you Arch..love from South Africa
Thank you so much, @Arch Phoenix Stanton!! 🙏🏻✨🤗 I hope you're doing all right! 💪🏻 Merry Christmas! 🎄🥂Virtual hug from the land of tango (Argentina) ✨❤️
If there is money in the equation you can bet thats the answer🤔 some people/men are so full of Bull???? and some women believe it 😮 Peter Whalley always does great plays😊
This guy is the most pathetic thing ever! He keeps on saying, “ I couldn’t take it “ “ I couldn’t stand it anymore “! But I don’t think it ever once crossed his mind for one minute what does she want, how does she feel? All the time he’s lying through his teeth. OMG I can’t stand him! Someone should put him out of everyone’s misery! I’m just as pissed off at her for being sucked in yet again!
Thank you so much. I love that play. I learn english with your plays . It is fantastic. And the twist at the end is very interesting. Have a nice day 👍
@@marioncannon9924 you're right😂 . In the fist time I was not used to this accent... but with time and replay now I get it! Have a nice day. By the way I am french so my accent is the same as Hercule Poirot 😂...
@@marioncannon9924 by the way if you know other english plays like those or with the same final twist it will be pleasant if you can share some names. Have a nice day.
The comments are more interesting than the drama - there are those against Ian and those against the wife...... both are to blame - but mainly the wife. He's just a spineless jerk. She's an enabler. Enablers get away with it all the time. The writing is often written in mega letters on the wall and yet the enablers keep the blinkers on / exist in a bubble of illusion that they can 'fix' things; that they are nice forgiving people instead of facing reality that they have made a mistake, it's time to walk out, put a slab on it and move on.
Peter Whalley may very well be a remarkably talented playwright, but his stories have literally NO endings! I have yet to see a single play that doesn’t end abruptly, as if the author ran out of ideas or had experienced a writer’s block. Some may be of the opinion that he does it on purpose to allow the audience to use their own imagination, but I don’t buy it, it’s way too convenient.
Whalley is the best! I always get sucked in to his stories. ❤️
Whalley is a superb writer and grabs my attention immediately. Thoroughly enjoyable.
A fantastic portrayal of a narcissist personality 👌 A thoroughly enjoyable play to listen to at bedtime. Thank you ❤
WOW - What a thriller! Always grateful to the BBC the brilliant actors and the writers.
OMG - I don’t to spoil it for anyone but I am absolutely SEETHING.
Great story and performance!

Indeed!
AMEN!!!!
That would bring down every government in the world.

Such an excellent writer. Brilliantly acted. A very clever story.
Saving for my twilight hour when I wake. When I can't go back to sleep. Listening to Noel coward all day.
Weakness of character manifests as lying, blaming and self-victiming. Narcissism at it's best - for the narcissist.
Thank you! Just found these 'radio-dramas' and I'm officially hooked!!! 😄
Me too, brilliant

I'm starting to speak with a british accent after listening to so many of these. :)
I hear you, me too!!!!☺
That's interesting which British accent would that be ? Best accents are
Female nigella lawson
Male David Attenborough
Do you mean an English accent?! The Four Nations who inhabit these islands all sound very different. There is no such thing as a British accent.
Hahahaha!! Me too!
😂🤣😂🤣😂
Brilliant. Just brilliant.
The sad part is that there are people just like this in real life.
Yes there are😮 unfortunately there are many women and men who put up with anything rather than be alone😮
@@Angela-cc1hd And others who remorselessly prey on the vulnerable.
Foolish, foolish, love-struck women. And the manipulative men who use them. The eternal dance of the sexes. Nothing new.
I'm living with one right now 😔
Another fantastic story! Loved it

I have no tears for Ian
Fantastic show I'm very glad I found this channel.
You're back! So pleased and thanks for this.
Welcome back Arch! Really enjoyed this. Thanks.
Oh, those two female characters did my head in.
The ever distinctive voice of Sally Carmen currently of coronation Street 🤩
Who was she in Corrie, iv not watched for long long time
@@kevintraynor4508 Kevin's partner Abi she works at the garage
I thought it was her it was bugging me who it was I knew I recognised her voice
I enjoyed this, but to think there are still people like this out there... Hahah.
Jason Done is such a good actor - every word he utters I’m thinking NO! Don’t believe the slimy so and so! Ahh... she’s even cooking for slime ball!!!
Great drama, thank you
Peter Whalley 💥
This one is great
Thank you !
Thank you, Arch!!!!
Omg I hated Ian, and the gullible women he lied to. But I’ve liked this drama because I stayed to the end.
I feel sorry for Ian. He'd be much happier on rainbow land with the alphabet people than with nagging wife
Thank you
I think the actor I this played in where the heart is years ago , and if I'm not mistaken waterloo road.
Sad fact is there are people like both these characters..revolting liars and gullible fools..
Gullible fools is ‘harsh’.
Excellent!
Pleased you liked it. Arch

Loved this....thank u Arch.
Quite a happy ending from my point of view :)

jennifer McDonald are you going through the same thing ... as your taking rather to heart it's only a story.
Please be cautious about what you give away in your comments. Some of us read them in advance to judge whether the plays might be our cup of tea.
We need a sort of separate movie club. I'd love to discuss my opinions on some of the plots and characters.
@@lisettelachat1870 it's a story about typical women

A happy ending of sorts but honesty is still the best policy. One lie begets another ad infinitum.

Holy cow.Cow. P Whalley, at his most intense, pens a corker.
“Oh love, I’m so sorry “ the Brute !!! Haha ...omg .. she’s so gullible!!! Oh well 😔 it had to end somehow !!!
Great stuff!
Very entertaining.
Completely amoral. Switches lies to suit himself. Blames others for his actions. Great writing and acting.
Brilliant
Very realistic story
Some people would rather climb a tree to lie than tell the truth with fett on the ground.
That’s a great analogy, I’ve known a couple of people like that!
Didn’t enjoy the ending, all else was superb though. Thank you.
Wait … I’ve just reflected on it for few minutes. All was great, including the ending.
Why was the ending good? I don't get it
I've heard this story before
Ending somewhat ambiguous but at least there was an ending
That poor girl.
Is that Arch?
kevphillips02 yes the one and only 😀
What awful, pathetic people. Also, spouses don't get a share of an inheritance.
👏🏻 🇬🇧💙

YUK!!! What a shitty, narcissistic comment!
And poor Jake Gyllenhal being posted up here as the male character. He'd probably do a good job if it was a movie.
i dont believe it is him
He looks like Jason Done who voiced the character of Ian
The 'music ' is horrible. Is it really necessary?
Whaley is usually very interesting - but not this one. Small lives, banal individuals, whining, frequently hysterical voices etc. etc.
Not many sympathetic characters !

I hated the end. He was a rat.
I really don’t like happy endings. 😮
I did find Pamela's character supremely annoying though. Talk about "nervy". Good play though.
Classic narc, lack of empathy and revision of history; great tale - shades of cos playing the dead father
I’m not sure how many times I’ve listened to this but it’s a good one 😅❤
Thank you once again 🫡
아니 진짜 존나웃기네 스토리 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Chicken nugget 5 minute....
That was dumb 👎
Is this what British drama is? Whinging, shrieking, arguing, whimpering? This story lacks any real intelligence or craft or brilliance.
It's exactly what some people are like.
He's still a slime ball.
Ian's a nice guy, just bit confused.
Thank you enjoy the story . Not really keen on their whining northern accents tho .
Thank you
