I've had this song ready since I had finished reading the books, which was about after the first two episodes of the BBC adaptation had aired, and it only took me 4 days to finish them. I hadn't read three books in a row in such a short amount of time in years. And I find the adaptation to be quite enjoyable, especially the dynamic between Corm and Robin, but d*mn they should've made three episodes for CoE. That book is my favourite of the series so far and I think they should've given it more time to breathe and let things happen to do it justice. The second episode in particular felt a bit too rushed and jumping here and there a lot. At first I had thought they could've done better at showing how Robin was struggling with convincing herself that she was doing the right thing by getting married and how overwhelmed she was by the fact that she had lost Cormoran and the job, but while I was making the video I had the chance to rewatch her expressions and I think that, since we can't get into her thoughts as in the books, in the show they decided to show her as she puts on a happy face for appearances' sake, while she's clearly unhappy and kind of absent the rest of the time. I still think they could've done better, but the choice to only make two episodes didn't give them much time to deal with it properly. As for Cormoran, we have a clearer idea of where he is right now on an emotional level: he knows his feelings for Robin go quite deep, and by the end of CoE he decides that he wants to keep her in his life and to keep supporting her and to have her support in return, even if that means letting her marry that tw*t and suppressing his own feelings. I honestly think that that is a sign of how much his feelings are deep and pure and how much he respects her as a person, as a friend and as a woman. Honestly, as much as I would've preferred for her not to get back with the tw*t (I will never call him by his name, because he's not worthy) and to marry him, still plenty of things can happen after the ceremony, and I'm sure Robin will not be happy to know he got into her phone and blocked Corm's number without her consent. Corm would've never stopped the ceremony from happening because that was not his place, at least that's what he thinks, I think he doesn't believe Robin would ever feel what he feels about her. He went there just to get her back in his life, to let her know that if she wanted, everything would go back to normal.
I will probably write more about this on Tumblr, in the meantime, I hope you enjoy the video! I hope you like the from-black-and-white-to-colour-and-viceversa thing, I think it fit the song nicely. :)

Strike is my favourite programme because has anyone ever seen such chemistry between two people as Comoran and Robin. Boy are they made for each other. What acting when the two of them create such spark by their beautiful facial expressions, their smiles to each other, the glint in their eyes. They talk about Bogart and Bacall, Astaire and Rodgers, Gone with the wind etc, but these two grab at your heart strings like no one before. He is a real man, she is such an adorable woman. They have been tantalising us with their obvious love for each other for so long. Comoran, please put us all out of our misery and take her in your arms, and kiss her. The most electric magical romance you will ever see. So very special.
Cormoran Strike is my favourite book series and it’s all because of these two. They simply are the best duo I have ever come across.

I've only read the first book so far and still haven't watched the show but I started shipping them from the first chapters of the book and now I see how perfect they are together and this was an amazing edit!!
Oh, you're going to love the other two and hopefully Lethal White will be as good as the previous three. The tv adaptation is good though to be honest I think they could've done a better job adapting the Career of Evil, but on the whole is pretty enjoyable and the scenes between Cormoran and Robin are a joy to watch! I tend to prefer the books, especially as far as the cases are concerned, but I find Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger have a lovely chemistry and are pretty much perfect in their respective roles, so I totally recommend you watch the show as well, if you can get your hands on it.

Haven't seen this. But I love Tom as Athos. But anyway 3:31 looks heartbreaking... and 2:36 looks like a scene of dissapointment.
I was glad to find Tom in this after The Musketeers, he does a very good job with the character and their relationship is... well, a bit complicated, but the chemistry between Tom and Holliday is lovely to watch. :)

Recently discovered the books myself and finished them in a few days. I agree with the description to the video that in CoE especially, the show could have done a better job of conveying the attraction between the two. In the show (and others may feel differently), many of the "charged glances" are indicative only of professional appreciation and friendship, whereas in the book you get a much deeper sense of the (romantic) feelings involved, and how Robin frequently compares Matt and Cormoran. The ending of the show version of CoE compared to the book is a case in point. The book is I think pretty clear that each harbours feelings for the other, whereas in the show Robin's happiness at seeing Strike, coming so soon after the scene of her firing, comes across as little more than relief at getting her job back. Maybe it's just because TV hasn't got the same tools as books to convey feelings, but if anyone truly wants to ship Cormoran and Robin they should read the books. The newest one, Lethal White, is unique in that it is more of a story about the central relationship than it is about a murder investigation. I like this, and I suspect people watching this who haven't read the book will like it too.
Personally, I don't think the show fails completely in conveying the kind of feelings they secretely harbour and hide from themselves and each other, but I do think they could've done a better job, especially with Robin. I think a person who has watched the show and not read the books might perceive Corm's feelings quite easily, while it's not so when it comes to Robin. It's certainly due to the fact that the books offer an insight into the characters' minds that the series does not, but maybe it could also be because in the books Robin is much more confused and in denial about her feelings for Cormoran than he is, and that might have been reflected in the show as well. That said, I reiterate my opinion that the series could've done a better job, but I also found the chemistry between them lovely despite these flaws and I hope they will make things more clear in adapting Lethal White, because that book is a sort of turning point for Robin. @@chiaratippy Well, the Lethal White show is out next week! I'm super excited to see the development of their relationship on the screen because as you say LW in book form is a big turning point for R. I'm slightly apprehensive, because I read an interview with the lead writer saying that they've cut out the hospital scene, including presumably C and R's 'kiss' in the carpark. Here's to hoping they transfer it to another part of the story, maybe the house warming party in R's and Matthew's flat (or something).
They did what??? I love that chapter, why in the hell did they cut it?!? I hope, as you said, they adapted it in some way that still makes it justice, otherwise I'll be quite upset. That is an important chapter for both of them and their relationship. Oh well, let's hope they did a good job. 🤞
@@chiaratippy Yeah I liked that chapter too. But to be honest, the show has really cut back on the peripheral characters like his sister's family, so maybe they plan on sort of mixing in the 'essence' of the hospital scene to other bits. I can easily imagine, say, C and R sharing a quick kiss at the house-warming which occurs early in the books. From memory, the shows have not even had any of C's girlfriends on camera, so maybe C will turn up to the party alone (whereas in the book he's with Lorelei) and things will develop from there. Or maybe I'll be completely wrong!
Yeah, they cut a lot of stuff with his family, nephew included but I was hoping they would delve a bit more into that this time. I think I've seen a promo pic with Cormoran talking to Robin while a woman clings to him, I think that's Lorelei. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they decided to do.

I loved the books too, I can't wait for Troubled Blood to come out in September! The show is called Strike and airs on BBC, in America they changed the title a little and went with C.B. Strike. Personally I've found it enjoyable so far and the chemistry between the actors playing Corm and Robin is lovely, but I tend to prefer the books because the cases in the show sometimes are not adapted as well as I would like because of time and budget constraints, especially in Career of Evil, and there is less time to delve in the characters' thoughts and feelings. On the whole it's a good show, you should give it a chance if you haven't yet.

Well, he's definitely chubbier in the books and his show version is more handsome than his book counterpart but the actor is pretty much the same age.
saw a JKR interview where she said the actors are much better looking than the characters she had in mind! The Strike she developed is taller and heavier, definitely out of shape, but as the series goes on he does try to get into better shape if only to stay healthier.
