During the 3-point contest, when Bird was shooting with his warmup jacket on, Jordan said if you think that's good, wait until he takes his top off!

Magic was dead serious when he said that he loved and respected and admired Larry Bird… see you when everybody else turned their back on on magic when he was first diagnosed Larry didn’t…. The very first press conference after it was announced. Larry said he didn’t wanna play the game anymore because he was more worried about magic and his life.

Enjoyed your reaction 😊 For me Larry Bird's trash talking, either broke a player down, or forced an opponent to be a better player, & it was the strength of the player, which way they were affected.......that was just a part of who Bird was 😊

The night they were making high fives was his sixty point game. And it would have been a 63 point one, but for some reason that one shot he made and then fell in the trainers lap was not counted.
Loved seeing that pass he made while he was in college. He was doing the crazy passes long before he reached the pros, just like Magic did and at that time, early on, they hadn't really heard about each other.
Love going down the Larry Bird rabbit hole. Thank you.

I remember hearing about that shot he made where he called "off the glass, into the trainer". Allegedly, he was cooking the other team so bad that one of the guys said listen, I've got some fouls to burn, so I'll just take a foul to stop him. Larry went to take that shot and the defender bumped him, but Larry still shot it, and while it was in the air, he yelled out "MONEY!" and it still went in. So all the guys fell off the bench laughing because they tried to foul him on purpose and it still didn't matter.

Larry trash talked to the great "Dr J" all game long just before Dr J retired... saying to Dr J and his team that *_"Dr J needed to retire!"_* Dr J got so pissed off, he started a fist fight with Bird... it is insane to watch. I think that was the *only* fist fight that Dr J was ever involved with. Larry would throw fists 5 or 6 times during his career... maybe more.

I'm a sucker for old sports film. Bird was mos def a one of a kind special athlete. He endured a lot of actual pain to play. His right hand was messed up before he ever played an NBA game. Two Achilles tendon operations, right cheek fracture, orbital displacement, (* he wore goggles for a few games after his eye was popped out of his head, I believe was when he sneezed). His back was broken from shoveling gravel in his mom's driveway. His back was so bad, often he had to have the doctor unlock his spine and set it so he could play. There's no one like that today. He got paid well for playing a game he'd probably played for free. Yeaah, he knew that money was coming and the bonuses were pretty good incentives.

Jordan was *0 in 6* against Larry in the Playoffs and in one of those Playoff games, Michael scored *63 points* and the Bulls *STILL* lost against the Celtics. Larry even *smoked the Bulls* with Jordan *and* Pippen on the team together. I think the Bulls only won 1 game against the Celtics with Larry on the team during the late 80s and early 1990s.

I like the way Ewing describes how the Bird thing happened to him. Simple , honest , and in your face about it. THIS is what people dont understand...people (i cant believe i'm say'n this , but..) Kobe. He just dont get it either.
THIS is the paradox.....People complain about some1 being faster than they are. ( Worthy ,Fastest 1st step in modern NBA). But , it is NOT about being faster , it is about adjusting to the speed of the player your facing. Both of you can go slower , but your not geared to go slower as faster is better , ya? WRONG. One person is adjusting to the other. Faster or slower , it is THAT DIFFERENCE , that you need to adjust to.
John Sally , a pretty smart man , imo , tells it about as close as you can get....saying...(You had to adjust to his speed).

I've heard that THE Laker, Jerry West, was sitting by the Laker bench during that game that Magic mentioned. The one when Bird told Magic he'd put on a show for him.
I recently saw a short that quoted West's comments after that game.
I'll see if I can find the link.

Jordan, Pippen, Isaiah, magic, Kareem, worthy, Wilkins, Clyde the glide drexler, Ewing, Barkley, Rodman, Byran Scott, Gary Peyton and etc!!!! His the best all around player the league has ever seen, and yes, completely better than LeBron!!! He’s the Founding Father of the 50/40/90 club and the original best three point shooter before the three point line was brought in!!! Every player, even Jordan has taking his skills and incorporate them as their own, …. the step back, the fade away, the in traffic passing,… the 10-plus rebounds a game for his career, and did everything with a broken back and bad Achilles injury and foot problems for seven years from 1985 in the most physical era of defensive players and teams ever!!!!! He is above all according to the all the greats,… even Jordan has said that, and Magic!!!

The more I see these videos, I don't think he was less athletic than anybody, his showed in different ways. That half court shot he caught and shot while still in the air. Those full court passes, he was making full court passes in the air covered three guys,. How many times have seen him on his tippy toes falling off the court and put that ball all the way down the court and dudes did t have to break stride or reach for it. It's just a different kind of athletics. Diving for loose balls surrounded by guys and somehow hit guys right under the hoop for easy dunks. That passing re-edit video is where he showed true athleticism nobody really notices but athleticism is usually only noticed on scores, not passes. Jordan is my favorite all-time, that's who watched growing up and he was definitely entertaining. I really think Larry might be #1. Watch some full games and see what and why he's doing certain things off the ball. That saltine that doesn't exist. It will always e discussed and debated with no absolutes because it is all situational. How much fun would it be with a clear #1? It's the debates that keeps the ball moving. It's politics for guys that don't like politics.

Jordan is the greatest for other reasons same as Magic but if we are talking the best player who could even influence a game without playing well himself. Took a losing franchise and made it great, made hall of famers out of his teammates. That is the definition of GOAT mate.
