This was actually a brilliant talk. I usually hate management and business related stuff, but I really enjoyed this. He presented even the boring things in a very interesting way. Great speaker.
The list of books mentioned here is: The Superorganism: The Beauty, Elegance, and Strangeness of Insect Societies The Timeless Way of Building Design Your Self: Rethinking the Way You Live, Love, Work, and Play Never Check E-Mail In the Morning: And Other Unexpected Strategies for Making Your Work Life Work The Advantage: Why Organizational Health Trumps Everything Else In Business Difficult Conversations: How to Discuss What Matters Most You are welcome =)
What a quality presentation full of amazing information! He touches on every aspect of every good and bad studio I've worked for making me realize things I never even thought about those places but make perfect sense in retrospect!
Every time I watch the GDC talks I always feel an overwhelming sense of community, but the typical game developer forums are scattered across the internet. How are you guys staying connected? Or does everyone just go home after the GDC is over and stay in contact via messenger or something?
Really insightful didn't expect a lecture on metaphysics on a game development channel somehow I expect that this lecture was not well received if at all.
My current studio has virtually no meetings and my morale is the lowest it’s ever been. I can go weeks without talking to a person face to face. Not to mention the constant miscommunications due to everything being done over chat texts
Great talk, but Jesse confused Agile with Scrum. Scrum came from the Agile world but is usually misunderstood and often implemented as the opposite of Agile ;)

Thanks Pal, I was literally going to do this and post here before I found your comment.
What a great man Jesse Schell is. I really appreciate you for the talk.

Super entertaining and informative! what else can you wish for, oh right, a harmonica intro!
Very quiet but very good and concise information. enjoyed it.
Great intro and great speaker. He made a management talk really interesting and engaging.
One of the most valuable talks ive seen at GDC thanks Jesse

Its all about Networking
Really great speech. Very clear, relatable examples and a ton of resources if we want to elevate our listening or management skills.
The Art of game design is a great book !!
Schell, you are my hero. Thanks.
This is a great talk. To convey the information clearly, the voice of the video is too low.
Really insightful didn't expect a lecture on metaphysics on a game development channel somehow I expect that this lecture was not well received if at all.
Great speaker and great info! Well done!
Good learning and some things sure hit close to home.
But you can't smell it over Skype
yet
He's a great presenter
Audio levels are way too soft. Please fix and reupload.
You're too soft
Maybe fix your crappy system?
This dude book is a fundamental
I'm not sure I should tell how I felt about this talk... i could get in trouble

All your videos are soo quiet. Turn up the volume! =D
Pure gold!
Great talk, but Jesse confused Agile with Scrum. Scrum came from the Agile world but is usually misunderstood and often implemented as the opposite of Agile ;)
Yeah, smell is what's missing in my studio.
18:03 When it comes to scaling
43:50 Ahahah!
Oh god I'm the fool
This talk started with a harmonica. My interest is immediately piqued.
Exactly!
do you need an Audio Engineer to fix the audio for you here? this is way to quiet.
The only noise in head gir going do do do do
20:01
audio is fcked up
A bit too much pseudoscience.
Ten minutes in, not interested so far. Should I keep on watching?
If you mean this is gold then I agree.
This guy talking style is like that teacher trying to hard to be funny and cool
Good info in the talk tho
18:50 no actually modeling like this isn't correct. Everybody is not directly communicating with everybody else. Especially not day to day.
Dennis Chan That's the point he was making.
Ah okay, I stopped watching after that point. Thanks for the info.
