The Mid America Flight Museum's gorgeous, gleaming Lockheed Lodestar turned more than a few heads this past summer at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2023 en route to being named the Transport Category runner-up as part of the 2023 Lindy Awards.

I flew Wiley Sanders Howard 250 with John Putman Sr. to OSH a few years back. 8+ hours from Bakersfield nonstop… and we did not top the tanks. Probably the most interesting experience in 40+ yrs of flying.

I was a passenger in a Lodestar flying from Auckland to Wellington New Zealand in late 1946. I was 6 then, 84 now. I can still remember the blue leather seats. That aircraft in its civil and military variants was a great example from that era.
