Just discovered her like 3 weeks ago and she brings upon so many different emotions. I just downloaded 3 of her albums all magnificent. I've only heard 4 so far.
My wife and I were dating when this song came out, many nights we fell asleep with it playing. To this day,if we’re having a “little spat”, I play this and she throws her arms around me, tells me that it’s okay that I was wrong, and it’s okay.I don’t think I’m wrong most of those times, but I just say “alright”.
Other 90's Favorites: Sarah Mclachlan - Sweet Surrender R.E.M. - E-Bow the Letter Fiona Apple - Shadow Boxer Jeff Buckley - So Real Sophie B. Hawkins - Damn I wish I was your Lover Lisa Loeb - Stay (I Missed You) ....
"That's a voice I could get lost in" I've heard this song a million times and I still stop whatever I'm doing when it comes on and just listen to it. It's such a perfect song.
"That's a voice I can get lost in" Man, you could not have said it better. This song breaks my heart every time I hear it. Such a longing, but those lyrics - they absolutely nail in words what love is. And her voice. I'm with you. I could just get lost in there forever. It's one of the most beautiful songs that ever was.
Oh, man. You got me with this one. One of the most beautiful songs of the 90s, one of the most beautiful songs EVER. Hope Sandoval's voice is both sultry and sweet, and my God, if there's a more underrated song in music history, I don't know it. It's tragic that we lost the other half of Mazzy Star, songwriter/guitarist Dave Roback, last year. P.S. If you check out another one of theirs, it HAS to be "Into Dust". HAS TO.
I love this song so much. My Dad died in 2013 and I ran to the Hospital from my house in Detroit . This song was on my track/headphones. I will never forget it.
I just discover this band yesterday... as a 90's teenager is hard to explain how I didn't knew they exists. Well, thanks UA-cam for the recommendation, I felt in love with the song, band and the singer.
Saw her in concert back in the day... She was so pretty, delicate, and mysterious. Fell in love with the whole package. She played the tambourine and everytime she hit the side of her leg she pulled her skirt up... subtle but effective! 😂
You did it again. Song from my teens that I haven’t thought about in years that just brings it all right back. I don’t know if it’s suggestions you get, your choices of songs or a combination of both. But it is just stellar.
I'm 40, and I agree. I've said something before in his comments about how I wonder if his audience is mostly in their 40's because MOST of the songs are gonna get us in our feelings, lol.
I am 54.JayVee probably was not born at the time this song was on college radio... He probably never listened to the "radio". Glad to see young people appreciating and listening to music of my( our) generation (gen X)
I’m in my late 20s, but I remember the 90s fondly. So many great songs and videos on MTV, and with me being so young, I took it for granted. My teenage cousin would always change the channel from cartoons to MTV alternative music.
After months of seeing you listening to amazing songs for the first time, this time your video introduced me to an amazing song I've never heard before
The Jesus and Mary Chain have a song featuring Hope Sandoval( Mazzy Star singer) called "Sometimes Always" its from around the same era(early to mid 90s) I remember both songs from 120 minutes on MTV ☺
Her voice is hauntingly beautiful. If you like this you'll love Corinne Bailey Rae...Like A Star, Put Your Records On..Closer, Green Aphrodisiac, Jersey Girl, The Scientist....and many more
In Australia, there's a "Hottest 100" music poll that is held every year on Triple J, the youth radio station. 1994 was the first year they did a yearly poll instead of a "Greatest songs of all time" poll. This was the song I voted for (via a telephone recorded message bank). It got #32 in the poll. Winner was "Zombie" by the Cranberries, followed by "Closer" from Nine Inch Nails at #2.
I'm so glad I was a teenager when Mazzy Star were around, my angst music was eerie and beautiful instead of angry and hostile, and I think that has made a world of difference to the person I grew up to be.
That is so beautifully stated. I couldn’t agree w you more cos I was hanging out w a friend 15 years my junior and all he loves is metal. Straight angst, pummeling, hard metal. No melody at all. It gets boring

Nice. David Roback (1958-2020), the guitar player, was in a 'Paisley Underground' band called Rain Parade in the '80s, and they have some nice neo-psychedelic music worth hearing. 'I Look Around' is a favorite.
Simply great. Whenever I listen to this song, I listen to it again and again, too. 😊 From the same era, you can listen to "Sweet Jane" by the Cowboy Junkies. Margot Timmins also has that quiet, haunting, airy voice that can take you places that are out of this world. Thanks, JV.
Hope Sandoval has a haunting and beautiful voice. The only place to go from here is the group Garbage. Lead singer Shirley Manson's voice is different and powerful as well. Excellent song choice. Mazzy has a song entitled Into Dust that is outstanding!
Loooooove the Sundays!!!! Love love love. I was going to say Wild Horses and Summertime!! Reminds me I also love the Cardigans! ***You made me go add my old favorites to a playlist-The Sundays, Cardigans, Ivy, Hooverphonic...
The Sundays "Wild Horses" is definitely an appropriate companion piece to "Fade Into You", I used to put them back-to-back on my personal compilations!
@@xx-ug9hn True, but for whatever reason they were always lumped in with the grunge bands. Today you hear their music alot on Lithium on Suruis XM which is strictly a grunge channel.
she’s looking back on someone that isn’t in her life anymore, but loved yet they never realized it. Shoe gazing is the genre (funny name) but it’s so about being shy and being lost. Mazzy Starr (Hope Sandoval) portrays this perfectly.
I’m so happy you chose to react to this song! I’ve never heard anyone react to it. You made my night. You were right on with this. This song and her boys are so haunting and sucks you in. I lived in New York City at the time when I first heard it and bought the album right away. I fell asleep every night to the CD on repeat and I woke up to it in the morning. I sat outside in the city at night losing myself in the song. I chilled out to it, I vegged, took me on a journey, and even made you know what to it. This whole album is worth listening to. I can’t tell you what it means to have someone like you discover this. I don’t feel like there’s anything to figure out, other than what you said about being so deep and wanted to be one with someone and that is meant just to lose yourself in. Great job
I grew up in the 90s but I can't for the life of me remember ever hearing this song. It's only in the last year or two that I heard this song playing in a movie. I tell you what though, I only had to hear this song once and I immediately fell in love with it. They got a lot of other really good songs as well but this one is definitely my favorite.

I love this song so much. My Dad died in 2013 and I ran to the Hospital from my house in Detroit . This song was on my track/headphones. I will never forget it.
Hope Sandoval (the singer) was so cute back in the day. She has such a dreamy, airy vibe about her.

She still is stunning even these days
