- What is modular arithmetic? In this video I'll introduce you to the strange world of mathematical time-telling that is modular arithmetic!
What is the final digit of 7 to the power of 100? Can 4003 be written as the sum of two squares? Is 1,200,304,501 divisible by 3? All these are questions that are made much simpler by using modular arithmetic!
In this video we'll go over the basics of what modular arithmetic is, and how to answer different questions when working in different modulos. I'll also explain the applications of modular arithmetic and why it's so important!
Modular arithmetic is a fantastic tool for answering funky questions about numbers - and thus a great tool to add to your mathematics tool kit :)

quick question: i tried 5 + 16 (mod 3) and using the identity, I got 3 (mod 3) but when i added 5 and 16 = 21 and did 21 (mod 3) , I got 0. why is that?
@@ogorchukwuofili7319 She forgot the explain that if the result of the operation is >n (n from "mod 'n'") you will have to do the mod operation again on the result. Does it make sense to you? All the examples had their results as less than n so yeah, good question.

You're actually wrong about 26 hours. If we had 26 hours in a day the clock would go up to 13 not 12. So 26 would be 0 not 2.

Correct me if I'm wrong in this calculation
142.3 mod 29.5
142.3/29.5 = 4.82....
round down to 4
29.5 * 4 = 118
142.3-118 = 24.3
so 142.3 mod 29.5 is congruent to 24.3?
