I’m a Ford guy, I love the turbos because they are totally Aussie made in every sense except the transmission. I also love the Commodores and TRD Aurions because again they are Australian. We need to preserve as many of these as possible, I cry whenever I see another one wrapped around a tree.
Excellent video CommodoreMan likewise I enjoy both makes and as you say seeing what we were once capable of making in this country. For six years I've owned a 2010 FG XT and its been very comfortable & reliable, its a crying shame we don't make cars here anymore but thankfully through your channel we can relive & appreciate our Aussie made cars, thanks very much once again!
Absolutely beautiful. I love falcons, my family owned one, I bought one, then I convinced my younger sister to buy one too. I've got an FG G6E that I'm planning on doing a decent build on (currently NA but will be building everything to handle a turbo for 500rwhp ideally). I absolutely cannot wait and I fully understand your excitement driving that car. I love how happy you are when you hear the turbo spool and flutter, it's exactly how I feel too! Have a good one.
As an American, I wish this car had been imported to America, since it matched classic American sedans. It was basically the Australian counterpart of the Crown Vic, Country Squire and Ranchero, all of which lived longer.
in terms of international sales, the xr6t would have to compete with the mustang in terms of flagship performance car for the brand. im assuming higher ups didnt want the xr6t to cannibalize mustang sales, especially considering in some cases the xr6t outperformed the mustang. regardless it would've been cool and i personally think they could've coexisted if they didn't have the mustang on such a pedestal and if it had much more superior performance to the xr6t. really cool and well produced video, not enough good pov video reviews out there, the noises these car makes are the cherry on top.
I'm a Ford man, then Valiants. But back in 2005 I bought a VX Commodore V8 police car at the Government Auctions in Fyshwick in ACT. Just for a change. It was a very fast car. It only had 55,000km on it but there was always something wrong with it. It was always down in the Holden Dealers being worked on. The mechanics there told me this car had been driven hard and when new, they will take it. But all that abuse then shows up years later in lots of unexpected places. I would never pay much for an old cop car ever again.
Great Video. The NA barras aren’t too bad on fuel depending on how you drive them. I had a ba futura that averaged 9 litres per 100kms and my current car Bf Fairmont ghia averages 8.6 per 100kms country and town driving
I was anti ford for years love my holdens but i got given a manual ba ute and it changed my view of fords now I own a fg xr6 and absolutely love it i now just appreciate the vehicles this country was once capable of building
Always been a Ford man, but it doesn't matter anymore. Those days are gone, our auto industry was killed off, and all we have left are Australian survivors, clocking up the kays.
Ford is more Australian, barra was designed built here. Holden motors show up on a crate from overseas, I was 100% Holden then seen a show on ford Australian history years ago and thought why am i a Holden only man.
Australian Falcon platform goes all the way back to 1960 US Falcon, just in RHD form, the kept same platform, with revision, until 2015. And the engine has US roots as well
@Hapkido82AUS n Sorry mate, that's incorrect, I can remember from the show I saw years ago. It changed with the XA falcon. So I typed in google, found this, and then copy and pasted, here... From the XA series of 1972 onward, each Falcon and range of derivates have been designed, developed, and built in Australia, following the phasing out of the American-influenced Falcon of 1960 to 1971, which had been re-engineered locally as the XK to XY series for the harsher Australian conditions. Maybe your thinking Holden that took its design from Opal, etc. Hence, saying what I learned was Ford was more Australian!
I own an ex AFP priministers escort gt with the ford Motorsport engine trans and factory 9inch irs with different rear floor pan in Mandarin mica only two were made a real sleeper
There's some vids on my channel somewhere if you want to take a poke on insurance paperwork it was an F1 enforcer and I have the paperwork from ford a few years back stating what it is but a word of warning to al ba and FG owners keep an eye on the filler neck tank side they are white plastic and have a habit of failing when I spoke to ford they couldn't tell me who made the tanks yet they were made in-house go figure I am currently trying to find a process to fix this cheap yes you have to pull tank out but if you can't fill it what you gonna do it's either make a decent flange at this stage or an alumina tank replacement
Funny you find it uncomfortable. It must be different from one person to another. I went from my 2017 vf ss redline to my mates fg Gt 335 and thought this is far more comfortable, it nearly converted me 😢 I now never hear the end of it i shouldn't have told him.
I have an orange xr6 turbo twin of this. It is not as comfortable as my Ford Fairlane . This is quite simply because there is nowhere to put your elbows.
@hisheroship ok, I can't remember that about the car, but just remember how comfortable it was, I'll be seeing him again Saturday ill jump back in his and take note!
if fuel wasnt so stupidly over priced it wouldnt really matter that they use a bit of fuel for what you get out of them. But in saying that i have a stock 08 fg xr6t with only 79ks on it and its a pleasure to drive, cant say im a fan of the constant turbo flutter, it would be fun for a bit but after awhile i think the sound is annoying. I like having power and stealth at the same time rather then being noisey
@@CurtisLSAyeah I’ve seen some of your videos too. I just got my hands on a series 1 vt clubby I’m restoring and rebuilding as it was involved in a crash
These cars are what made Holden what is was. Respect goes both ways. I’m 21 and have only liked ford since I was born in the glorious FPR days but since Holden shut its doors with ford following after and making Supercars a slog fest as it is now. It makes you realise most manufacturers were brilliant. I find myself watching a lot of com mans content to learn a lot of what I’ve missed with Holden growing up
If I had the money I'd have a collection of aussie ford's and holdens

Yep! That is why P players shouldn't be allowed to have them! They almost always rap them around trees.

Bet that turbo loved all the idle hours + the smell from the piggies.
I have a standard fg XR6 turbo. It does scare me, and when I turn traction control off, I have to be very careful. Lots of fun.

Still I cant deny they are fast and for sure they are fun. Holdens espescially with 5L enough fun for me

You gotta get your hands on a low km au falcon
Where are you driving? I’m a firewood guy and I’d love to approach some
Of the land owners around there
Looks
Fantastic
always loved these cars, if I had the means I would import one when they hit the 25 year mark but that's probably out of my reach!
Fuck yeah I can definitely remember this car from highway patrol
I test drove a brand new FG F6 years ago and I was too scared to give it a boot. So I can’t imagine how this thing would feel haha
cmon man turn off the traction control and send the thing...
I was anti ford for years love my holdens but i got given a manual ba ute and it changed my view of fords now I own a fg xr6 and absolutely love it i now just appreciate the vehicles this country was once capable of building
I found the video on Highway Patrol exactly the same car but non-turbo and number plate has 66F at the end

i got a bf mk2 xr6t and i absolutely love it but this things a different animal, but mine will be there eventually, good vid
This thing flies, and it looks completely stock, so you would probably not give it a second glance when seeing it on the road...

My daily for the past year and a bit has been a 410kw g6e its super easy to daily
5:30 8.3 litres per 100 is the average for my na falcon. They can be somewhat economical if you don’t get up them
my na fg gets 11.7 on average 😔
Yeah except you don't mention that figure would be with at least 90% highway driving.

Even mild mods on these cars make them dangerous and undriveable
If you do suspension work and not just throw boost at them there not bad
mine pulls high 9 second passes, daily driver, spend money on your suspension, upgrade your brakes and don't go cheap with your tires.
hello mate im a fan of you but stick to the Holdens mate love your vn videos
Plenty of VN gear to come;)
Love my Holden’s . Don’t see myself doing a video like this on my channel but yeah something different I guess but Holden’s for life
