    I have a tip for you. Immediately after taking them out put hot veggies in a strainer and rinse with cold water. That stops the cooking process from the heat. And it freshens up the color of your veggies. They stay fresher and not as soft from continuing to cook from the heat on them. Works for me

    Good video. I haven't tried frozen vegetables yet. I haven't used the steam function either. However, I noticed high pressure for fresh veg for 3 minutes with a quick release gives a nice texture- slightly firm. Don't worry about presentation- it's just fine. "Umms and hmms" don't bother me. Results do. I also plan to try a variation of your lentil soup method soon too.

      Use the high-pressure setting and set the time to Zero minutes, then Quick release. It takes a few minutes to reach pressure, perhaps 2 to 5. The pot will beep when it's reached zero minutes, and then you push the pressure release valve to let the steam out.

      You can actually drink the water (Chef AJ just puts it in a thermos and drinks it!) or you could save the water in the refrigerator and use it as a broth for soups or other meals.

    • @gloveboxsandwiches
      @gloveboxsandwiches  4 роки тому +1

      Sorry for the super late reply! Lately I’ve been doing “steam 0” at LOW pressure,, quick release. It steams it without turning it too soft. Because most of the vegetables are reheated, this timing/pressure is perfect, so the vegetables don’t get overcooked when reheating.

      If you fill the Instant Pot full of frozen vegetables, it will typically take around 20 minutes to reach pressure. If you put less vegetables, it will reach pressure faster.

    You seem like a nice lady with some great information, I think doing videos is sometimes a challenge. My feedback would be get a wireless mic on Amazon so we can hear you. I thought it could be dangerous to wiggle the lid back and forth, maybe not for you but if someone opens it under pressure they could be injured. It seems there was a lot of "extra" talking about stuff that didn't matter. Nervous talk. Don't give up, keep going.

    I know it's been mentioned below, but I just wanted to give my take. With all of the other sounds, your voice gets kinda lost. I had to keep my ear to the speaker but then I couldn't watch what u were doing.
    Maybe, perhaps, if u haven't already, look into a collar Mic or even dubbing ur voice over the video with editing.
    YOU have so much great advice, and I would live to be able to hear and see it. Just some thoughts.
    If you need help with learning to edit or even finding editing software, pls message me. If live to help.

    So it took 20 minutes at 0 time to get your vegetables pressure cooked?

    • @gloveboxsandwiches
      @gloveboxsandwiches  6 років тому +3

      Ricardo Valls - since this video, I've learned how to speed up the process. Turn the Instant Pot to sauté mode to "preheat" the heating element before putting anything into the pot. Wait until it says "hot" on the digital readout (happens quickly) then add vegetables and boiling water. I've streamlined steaming my vegetables down to around 10 minutes now. 👍🏼

    • @BobPaul
      @BobPaul 6 років тому +1

      Pressure cookers build pressure by boiling water. Think of frozen food in the pot like an ice cube in the pot. In order to build pressure the food has to at least mostly thaw before pressure can build since it'll be taking heat from the water and steam. The timer doesn't start until it's reached pressure (on 0 minutes, it beeps as soon as pressure is reached).

    • @karenrichardson6767
      @karenrichardson6767 5 років тому +1

      You don't need to add boiling water. Put water in the pot and hit saute, hit adjust so saute is in high mode and the n you can add veggies to the strainer with the already boiling water.

    • @gloveboxsandwiches
      @gloveboxsandwiches  6 років тому +5

      shelia french - when you steam you can actually select "0" as a number, that was surprising to me as well when I first started out with my Instant Pot! By the time it heats up by bringing it to pressure, it doesn't need any time on steam. You may like them more cooked though, so do a little trial and error, some people steam them for 1 minute but my family likes 0. Thanks for watching!

    • @rgruenhaus
      @rgruenhaus 6 років тому +1

      shelia french no you can put it on zero and once the pot gets to pressure it goes into warm or natural pressure release
