Agreed. Having cbtc signalling doesn’t mean that train will be driverless. All metro train use cbtc signalling and yet how many of them are driverless metro train in India?
CBTC will automate signalling, not make them driverless. For driverless, we need to implement ATO (Automated Train Operation) or even more complicated UTO (Unattended Train Operation), which automates even the parking, cleaning of trains. A few metro lines in India have UTO.
It would be far better if they just add automatic doors in local or make every local AC than this systems which doesn't benifits citizens directly. And don't say that it will delay the train. It's anyways delays. A delayed train is better than 2000+ deaths.
they will do everything but address the actual issue. In fact there is no reason to not close the doors and make every train AC. Only addressable topic would be managing the fares.

@@prakharpratapsingh3684 That is a different thing, that is average speed. High speed metro services (or train services in general) are almost always defined by top speed, for eg: Delhi's orange line (Airport express) is an 'express' line as it has a top operating speed of 120 kmph, despite having a average speed of around 80 kmph. Also technically, Vande Metro is designed for even higher speeds of 130 kmph operations and is more limited by the tracks on which it runs.
We don't want driveless train but we want more local trains and new carshed i am not taking about services but new local trains if we have new carshed which can cater 30 35 locals & if each local give 10 to 12 services then 300 new services can be added also new stabbling lines in each terminal station will also cater more services especially in Central railway because on main line services are only 898 up and down where's on western railway 1500 plus services are run
My question is about railway. Why IR is only focusing on speed increase to 160 KMPH rather 200. Plz give an insight on this whether it is a technology restriction or something else.
For 200, you need to fence off the tracks. There are other things too, like speed restrictions due to curves and upgradation needed in the route relay interlocking and signalling systems. But the question of how to fence off the entire track reliably is a big problem.
200 kmph is not needed on normal tracks. It would be too expensive to upgrade tracks, do fencing in such a large network. It's better to have dedicated high speed lines.
Indonesia's '420 kmph' bullet train is the system's design speed, operational speed is 'only' 350 kmph, which is actually not too far from Mumbai Ahmedabad Bullet train's operational speed of 320 kmph (design speed of 350 kmph). Of course, that system actually runs now unlike NHSRCL's project which is delayed by more than half a decade.
You are really complaining about India getting the best of HSR Japanese E6 series technology transfer and not the Chinese copied garbage train that Indonesia got scammed out of. Give it a couple years and the Indonesia HSR will show it's new made in China features too. Just like how most of Chinese HSR trains have in China itself. You can't compare Chinese and Japanese HSR trians, the quality and safety gap is massive. India is getting the whole Shinshekan system package, not just the train. Besides, like the other comment said, that Chinese train's top speed is high but actually operational speed is around 350 like any other HSR train in the world. That's like complaining about getting a Lamborghini and driving it in Mumbai traffic at 60kmph.
Indonesia's total rail network is so small, we lay more new tracks in our Railways in just one year than their ENTIRE railway network length. Just because they made an HSR line few years earlier than us doesn't mean that they are now ahead of us in Railways or something.
@askpt why is bullet train taking so long to make one line. where as China made over 10k meters of high speed rail in 15 years and relatively low cost to to other major project
Cuz its easier to get land in China than in India, especially Maharashtra. Also its our first, so lot of learning and development. For eg, it took time to develop indigenous equipment like FSLM, Girder casting, etc, and also time to train Indian engineers to Japanese standards. Also Chinese HSR is cheap because everything is super standardized which allows economies of scale and mass manufacturing.
Because china has developed large machines which can place two large gurders in a day but india is still developing those machineries we can only place two gurders in a weak now
i think this because this is new to us once we get experience we may start making it fast maybe, also there are various problems like protests for environment , for land , which costs much more also if we include corruption....... and maybe more which i dont know or i forgot
Compare MAHSR to the first HSR line built in China. Not to the HSR lines China is building now, after expansion. Scale of operations and prior experience is a major factor. For example, we have scale and experience in regular railways. Which is why today India lays 5,500 km of new rail track each year and replaces 7000 km of existing rail track as part of repairs each year. This is more than the ENTIRE length of the Pakistan Railways rail track. How did India achieve this? Scale and experience. It will be the same in HSR too once India builds up scale and experience in HSR tech.

In a land scarce city like Mumbai i think this should be the most important topic of discussion, recently we have seen shinde etc talking about a slum free city more and more and mhada, cidco, mmrda potentially taking up these projects(even naredco requested this). Also how can people even oppose dharavi redevelopment, there should be no politics around it, most important real estate project of India imo.
