- I bought this weird and wild regulator watch after I thought all 178 pieces were long gone. Here's why.

Review from Monochrome Watches - monochrome-wat...
The sight of this watch on somebody's wrist would get me more thrilled than any Rolex, Ap or Patek could...
And I wouldn't resist the urge to start a conversation.
To me, it captures a lot of the joy that can be found in this hobby.
Well done, Evan. It suits you so damn well.
Don't flip it.
Please.
Thanks. I feel the same way. I'd be so happy to see one of these on a stranger's wrist. And I have no plans to flip it. That's not my style.
When these launched I thought how weird (and it is weird) and not for me. However, after this video I can see the appeal and I am liking it more and more. It seems fun and different. I really like the case and colors. I must say, your video presentations help me think outside the standard old black dive watch. Another great video!
Then mission accomplished. I want to be like a mind-expanding drug, but for watches... and on UA-cam.
Likewise. I used to utterly hate this but now I kinda want one.
Ahhh I love this watch so dang much! It is just freaking JOY ON THE WRIST! Do you find it to be a conversation piece?1 People must LOVE THIS!
"Lighten the f*** up" yet another quotable review, always a joy to watch Mr Terrific.
Your review, sense of humor, and philosophy on watch collecting is… terrific.
Ha! Thanks.
I love that you added this to your collection - its a pop of fun, colour and weirdness that every collection needs to balance out the sombre and serious pieces we all seem to gravitate toward in the curation of an "acceptable" collection. Ive been thinking a lot about this since you reviewed the Rados - its good to push comfort zones and create juxtapositions in our collecting habit.
The design of this watch is just so dang happy! I absolutelylove it! If these came in a 34mm for the small wrist gang, I would DIE!
I’d love to see a smaller version.
A day when you release a video is a day I wait for right after watching your latest video. I love you. Your take. Your method. I'm so happy that I found your channel!
You made me wait an entire WEEK for this video!!! Great video!
Sorry!
I don't really care what you're reviewing - I'll be watching just because your videos are so bloody good. A real touch of class (and humour).
Yaay, congrats! :) Love wearing my chrono :)
This is cool ash piece. Thank you for shedding light on pieces and or brands we wouldn't normally see from other YT watch content creators.
I wanted this piece, too, when it released! I missed out but glad you got one!
This is very cool. Love the case design. I wouldn't wear it, but I'm glad it exists.
I like your attitude.
Grew up in the 90’s and remembered seeing pictures of Alain Silberstein watches in my Dad’s Cigar Humidor magazines. I loved his design ethos and it was cool to see someone creating something so unique. The colors and wackiness of his pieces always made me smile.
I’m certainly smiling.
Congratulations on your new watch, your review's are keeping it fresh, and show your passion for exciting new watchers.
Thanks so much.
I have one of his watch catalogues from the mid 00s..it so fits with the aesthetic of the time, and ESPECIALLY 90s era computers and graphics.
I have a Louis Erard dress watch, and honestly it's a cool brand. Reliable timepieces at a decent price. Don't sleep on that brand!
How da heck did I miss this video? This thing is awesome! Good pick up good sir! Back when 7 inches wasn't accompanied by sound effects :)))
Awesome video! Love this watch and am actually looking to get the “Le Semaine” version for myself! Keep up the great work!
Thanks! I hope you get it.
This is very you… It could have been me too, but oh well they are out… Excellent review again Evan!!
Congratulations, that watch is pure fun! I had the pleasure of trying one for a few weeks, it's so comfortable and legible. And it has one of the best AR coatings I've ever seen, in natural light the crystal almost disappears! Cheers from Portugal :)
I was so close to mentioning the AR coating in the video. It really is perfect.
It’s quite simply the perfect watch for this channel. Bravo (and congratulations).
Thanks
All of your videos (even if I dislike the watch) are a delight to watch. I even got to appreciate some of the things I used to not like in the watch world. Keep it up! Looking forward to what's coming next on this channel.
Thanks so much.
Super cool addition. Congrats!
Nearly fell off my eames!
Thought I might be the only odd duck out there with my bright Le Chrono Monopoussoir…
BUT seeing you quack about it makes me happy about flying south.
Very much look forward to seeing you experiment with straps options. 👀🦆⌚️
I have seen skeleton dials before, but I think this is the first skeleton case I have seen on a watch haha. Reminds me very much of the joker watch. High quality watchmaking with a lighthearted design. Love it, and enjoy your new purchase
Dayum that’s awesome man. Congrats didn’t realize you bought one. Love it
This watch is so you. I'm glad you found each other. Way more interesting than a (insert colour here) dialed steel sports watch on a bracelet. : )
I LOVE this watch and have no idea why. Nice acquisition!
No need to know why.
No complaints at all! LOVE it!
That is the coolest looking watch I've seen so far.
Really fun watch, love it! Great review as always
Thanks
I am just here for the funky music and bright colour.
wow fun piece! Def matches the vibes of your channel with all the color
I have this watch. I'm so glad you made a review of it. You touched on everything I love about this watch. I also have an Explorer and was thinking about getting the Superocean. We have the same tastes and why I love this channel. Thank you for sharing your love of watches.
Wow! You have the most bestest taste. The collection of a superhuman super-genius!
What a wonderful watch design. Love it. The reference to Memphis is brilliant. Best reviews anywhere. Thanks. Hate that it is sold out.
Thanks so much.
Beautiful and fun piece! A watch enthusiast should have at least 1 wild card watch in the collection. Enjoy!
It's been in my collection since it came out. I love how different it is from anything else on the market and very different from anything else in my collection. The strap is the best strap for a watch period! Great video! 👍🏻
Nice choice
I desperately want to see one of these in the wild. It's so dang cool
Great video as always! Love that you've bought something you love, with no regard for what others will think. Groupthink takes some of the fun out of our hobbies!
Thanks!
Let’s take a second to appreciate the use of colors in the frame matching the colors on the dial. Attention to detail
Glad you noticed.
Half watch , half art, ALL AWESOME 😎 - Quail Man
Great video, as always! I couldn't pull off this watch but respect to you for being able to. I like how you like what you like, no F's given!
This was a great video, it’s really class that you even know about this sort of stuff and appreciate it. I’m going to subscribe
regulator dials are my fav. this one is a lot of fun. i love how the seconds & hour subdials share an index. this is a surprisingly low price for such a special watch. more like this please.
I think this watch is epic and I want one. It's unique and fun. OK full disclosure I'm an architect, a 48 year old architect who knows all about The Bauhaus, Ettore Sottsass, and Silberstein... It could be a collaborative between Breuer and Sottsass now that you mentioned it!
BTW your review is the more spot on about this watch!... The design of the case/lugs/straps is genius. I'm getting the Khaki Regulateur! Thanks!
I love Bauhaus and Silberstein watches. When this launched I similarly spent to much time thinking if I should get it - and I missed it (actually I wanted the Chrono version). Congrats for for the fantastic and funny review (as usual!!!) and most importantly for the purchase.
Great pickup. Congrats!
Thanks!
I honestly feel like this guy gets it. It's a hobby. Watch collecting is quite literally excess. Why not have fun?
Oh, he gets it.
Per usual, awesome video and such a cool watch. Am I right assuming they all say "1 of 178"? Or did you actually hit the jackpot?
Supercool.. love it. I would stop you if i saw this watch, very eye catching. Great conversation piece which after telling time, is watches 2nd job.
You found the perfect music to fit this watch.
Good call on the Memphis post modern style! I hadn’t thought of that particular fad in a long time. So I thought I was gonna hate this, but it is surprisingly intriguing instead of repulsive. It seems to go well with your collection since it does welcome in eccentricity. Enjoy and thanks for the review Evan!
Thanks, Michael!
I like it! I missed a Pikto Smileday going cheap a few years back, but one of these days Silberstein/LE will hit the top of my wish list.
Love this watch! I think my favorite aspect is that it takes the concept of a regulator, which emphasizes precise legibility, and subverts it with whimsical design that arguably decreases legibility (no disrespect)
"And Now for Something Completely Different"
Remind me on Monty Python
That was my thinking
Nice unique piece! I've been close to getting one of the other models, but some were a little too thick to pull the trigger. Now they have all tripled in price too.
I’m really loving your honest reviews of such a variety of pieces that aren’t the generic things like another Rolex Sub. Great pieces that are actually obtainable for most people unlike overpriced Rolex models.
Sorry, I think my next video is going to be on a gold Sub. 😬
@@YoureTerrific Damn, guess I'll have to watch it anyway...
Odd, Nerdy, Childish......and KInda Cool! Another great video!
Certainly a bold choice. While not for me I can see the appeal of a very unique design. Enjoy.
I always love to see people enjoying pieces that I personally don't find appealing at all. Makes me smile for some reason. I guess I'm simply not good at participating in current social media. Cheers!
Sure seems like you're very good at it.
This watch look incredible. I saw another combination of colours on Instagram that was even better
Awesome watch, nice way to start the new year!
Indeed
It almost feels like an upscale Swatch. I like it! - Han
I'm pretty sure a pink or yellow sweater would match perfectly with this. I have them both, just missing the watch...
I think it's a strikingly cool, good looking watch. It's would be a great conversation starter. The SW-266 movement is the only underwhelming part of the watch for the price tag. Another great review! Enjoy in good health 🙂
Thanks so much
How small a wrist will this one take? Love it but am cursed by a fragile 6.25 wrist.
Congratulations on the purchase. Wear it well.
Thanks
Silly question but I wound my Louis Erard without unscrewing the crown, I mean I just turned it up so it can be wound or what should I do because I bought it and they stole the manual
Great review and commentary, as always. I would love to have a 'fun' watch in the collection, but would probably do that Tej Rado you reviewed. How would you compare the fit and finish of the two? This Erard is obviously a different price point, but curious, as the quality is what can separate these from toy to serious watch, regardless of the playful design.
This watch is usually and appealing at the same time. It's so quirky I feel like I need to know the doug score.
It's so egregiously loud.... I hate how much I love it.
Ha, perfect
Fun watch! Reminds me of kid’s finger paintings taped to the fridge 😄!
A bit of joy in an uptight industry.
Fancy watch but how small is that movement?!? A regulateur should have a chronometer certificate. Does this one has it?
I’m a huge Silberstein fan. His watches are beautiful and I usually stick to tactical and aviation inspired watches 😂
I am so glad this channel exists. Almost every other youtuber makes videos about Rolex. It's sickening.
I think my next video is about a Rolex. Sorry.
I don't care abt the watch but im still here. I just love watching your videos lol
That’ll do
Time to show your collection maybe ? would love to see a video on that.
You on Watch Crunch yet? also love the watch
We have a L.E. dealer in San Francisco area, are you sure there is only one dealer in the US?
I love this watch. A great choice for the individualist
Very cool & fun watch!
Wristwatch Annual 2001 had an advertisement for Alain Silberstein Tourbillon, using a Progress base calibre, but it had these funky shaped bridges sandblasted tan. That was mild compared to the dial. I'm a conservative watch lover, but man I liked the look of it. Thank you for bringing back that memory. Your watch is pretty awesome👍. You probably don't care, but I'll bet it will go up in value.
I don’t care, but I won’t object. Thanks.
alain silberstein got me into watches many years ago
The dial looks like something from a cartoon lol me like.
👍
The design doesn’t really resonate with me, but that’s ok. I really like that there’s something funky and colorful like this that isn’t plastic with a throw away quartz movement. I will have to say, the case is super cool, along with the loop system for the strap. Crap, I’m starting to like it more.
I really like it but I wouldn't drop that kind of money on it. Lovely watch nonetheless and imo the regulator is the best of the bunch
Nice that you got no 1 of 178
These watches are fun and quirky and I agree that I’d be more thrilled to see this on someone over a Rolex, but idk about $4k for Sellita movement. That’s a bit steep.
Its like a grown up version of the swatch watches i owned in the late 80s.
Beautifuk watch, great catch!
This guy is the Wes Anderson of watches. The pastel colors. The catchy music. The only thing missing is Bill Murray.
The crown is slippery...much like the slope that is watch collecting!
-Youre Terrific(Jan, 2022)
👌
This thing is wild. I keep looking that the “pizza” style hour game.
This is a great like 8th watch.
Leads into my question, how do you think about your next acquisition? Obviously, funding is one of the largest things that come into consideration and so we want to make the perfect next pick.
Do you look at pieces individually or do you look at your collection holistically and ask yourself “what am I missing”? If you only have 2 core pieces and you are the type that wants 6+, does it really make sense to purchase the dress watch of your dreams as your 3rd watch if you will only feel the occasion to wear it maybe a few times a year? Would leave to hear your personal “Target acquired” guide
I look at potential purchases with the question, “Knowing what I already own, would I pick this watch over my others in the morning?” Usually the answer is no. In that case, I don’t buy it.
@@YoureTerrific pure and straightforward, good stuff
Does anyone know if it’s 178 of the black dial and 178 of the white. Or total? I also saw a grey version. Will they keep releasing colors and limit them to 178 pieces?
Love it. Always liked AS designs. Some are still relatively affordable.
For now
This is a fantastic watch. I love the playfulness of Silberstein dials, and the titanium case with those lugs are great. Would've gone with a solid case back on this one, but that's my only real nitpick. Congrats on the great piece!
Interesting. Just wondering, why would you prefer a solid caseback?
@@thinsmough5948 the movement is boring, not well-finished, and a bit undersized for the case...a solid case back would just be a much cleaner look and more congruent to the rest of the design.
@@patrickbrcr I see... Thanks for sharing your point of view!
I could do without the yellow squiggle, but otherwise that's not a bad-looking watch. I'm shocked to be saying that.
