Just cannot describe how much I do love & appreciate the depth & profoundness you reached in this whole thins. I enjoy watching yer vids all the time! Stay safe. Best,
Dear Navid, I was wondering if you can help me on a small favour. I am interested in buying a new oud. Through the search I have gone through on the Internet I‘ve found many manufacturers. Sam‘s Ouds, Murad Al Turky, Zeryab, Dimitris Rapakousios, Sala Musik, Farouk Turunz, Vergara, Yildirim, and a lot of shops (Ethnic Musical Instruments, Arab Instruments, etc, etc. ). Personally, I prefer the Arabic classic sound. I am not greatly fond of Turkish ouds (with all due respect), I just find them to "buzz" a little. I would love your ideas/opinion on the above manufacturers and your recommendations/insights as to whether and to what extent you can expect a quality well- built instrument, proper finishing (not shabby), stable tuning and keys, etc). Many thanks. And all the best.
The word jins was borrowed from the Greek γένος - genos. Al-Farabi used the Arabic word zolarba to denote the same musical meaning. I don't know when the Greek term started being used. Persians also had their own musical term for genos called dang.

Is the name jins related to the Quranic Djinn creatures ?
No, at least not linguistically. They have pretty distant roots

@@OudforGuitarists Thankyou for your explanation and all the effort you put into your Oud Channel.
Jins is singular for Ajnas and it means genre in this context. It gives the maqam its unique melody.
