The grape were special... but don't tule out QMS/Jorma and Jack or even Capn Trips.... Jerry Miller/QMS probably my favourites... For Jam... QMS for sure...
Moby Grape, Sons of Champlin, Quicksilver, Ace of Cups, Sir Douglas Big Band...I wouldn't be surprised if some of those horn players were from T.O.P. or Cold Blood. Man...those were the days. So glad I was around to discover these unknowns and feel like I was one of the few that appreciated their chops.
@@JohnMurphy-pw3sy I recently watched Al Kooper's 50th Birthday Bash at the Bottom Line. Late to the party, but I'm glad I saw it. Al had an embarrassment of riches in horn players. Lew Soloff, Randy Brecker, Fred Lipsius, Tom Bones Malone, Blue Lou Marini, and The Uptown Horns. Jeez-a-looo!!!
What rifts! One of my favorites from my youth. As a budding guitarist, I worshiped the Grape as did my band mates.

RIP Jerry Miller!!!
It is a shame that this band was poorly marketed and ripped off by other bands. They really deserve much more than a cult following.
