We all know about his issues we don’t then documented again why can’t people concentrated on his playing career. I’ve just seen a video of him destroying Aberdeen
In May 1990 Paul Gascoigne played for Doncaster Rovers against Barnsley in a testimonial for Rovers' former keeper Paul Malcolm, with whom Gazza had played as a schoolboy in Newcastle. It seems crazy that he'd be allowed to play a game like that on the eve of Italia 90. He was simply incredible. Some of the skill he displayed that early summer evening I can remember nearly 30 years later, even if I can't remember the score.
I was there too. Im good friends with Colin Douglas who played that night and recently gave him my program from this game. Colin told me they were not eating orange or drinking tea at half time but instead had a few whiskeys lol. Redondo penalties and taking a 60 yard pass down by sitting on it lol gazza was different class.
I heard Chris waddle say that Bobby Robson was giving the team an in depth team talk for ages before the semi final against Germany. It was going on for ages , Bobby points to Gazza, you're gonna be playing against mattheus, he's their best player, stop him, keep him quiet. Gazza is looking at Bobby, nodding along "Aye" Aye, Aye Gaffer. " Bobby robson finally leaves the room. Gazza turns to the other player's " who the fucks mattheus?? "
Love this guy to bits! World class talent and heart of gold! Only man who’s wore a rangers top which I can’t help but love 😂... Wish him all the best and hope happiness for this legend of a footballer
Definitely the most talented English midfielder we have had and people only appreciate how good he was when you look at the likes of Lingard Ali and sterling in comparison how they have the talent but just can’t make things happen when we need them to show their ability to make a difference in a big semi final !! Oh well don’t think I will see another Gaza’s wearing a England shirt in my lifetime !!!
What makes me laugh about Gazza, is he looks at a world cup or a euro as one big lads holiday, much like i did when i was 18 and a coach load of students went to Belgium for 4 days. Not there for a holiday, but the minute we got on the booze the coursework went out the window before we even made it to the hostel. Half of us got arrested and the hostel was trashed. That's Gazza at a world cup 😂
From a national icon to people making a joke out of him in the comments . It’s sad . But I guess nearly every UA-cam comment video is full of sad cancerous trolls .
@@MrAckers75 He really wasn't. Every team needs a player like him, who not only does the dirty work, can run for days, plays in multiple positions and shuts down the oppositions style but also has strong technical abilities. If anything he was underrated and clearly by you. He was a deep player who scored and assisted more than Gazza. played for longer and allowed others to do their job while doing more than all in his position. Gazza was a legend but Matthaus was a winner for a reason. He knew how to win games and did, shut down opponents and support the team. While also earning 150 caps for his national side. If that makes you overrated, good god I hope England get a few more overrated players.
Lothar Matheus the European Championship winner,World Cup winner,Bundesliga winner 6 times,UEFA cup winner,Balon D'or winner,World player of the year winner,Serie A winner 150 Germany caps and Gazza with half an F.A CUP and a couple of SPL's 🤣🤣🤣
Biggest mistake Hoddle ever made was not taking Gazza to 98, that team with Gazza could have won it but he took Batty and Rob Lee instead and deprived us of Gazza and Scholes together
Greg W . Jackie milburn the great newcastle legend put his arm around a 13yr old paul gascoigne and said "see this lad here. He's going to be the best player in the world. In 1990 we finally had a player that was doing to the rest of the world what they had been doing to us for years and it was pure gold. The greatest player of all time to pull on an england shirt. A flawed genius who i will love forever.
it's coming home gazza football's coming home! 2018 England. top man gazza great times 1990 my best team for England then. I was only 10 and watching you I was amazed still am now god bless
Nope because Lampard wasn't a world class midfielder like Gazza in pure skills and Ronney was a striker. I was talking about the current team needing a Gazza type player. Rooney wouldn't help as strikers they have good enough and Lampard is another basic type of midfielder. I said below I was Scottish btw, not English.
So sad that he made that tackle in the 1991 final....never the same after that...even though still a great...would of loved to of seen him without that tackle though
just look at this pictre of gazza and lineker. now imagining being a kid at school and choosing tony adam and ray parlour and thus choosing to support arsenal. that's the difference between the personalities of spurs and arsenal.
Great player in 1990. Then that Silly challenge on Gary Charles in the 1991 Cup Final - never the same after that. Great Goal against Scotland at Euro 96. But Hoddle was *RIGHT* not to take him to the 1998 world cup. Not the same player by then and you dont need a daft bugger with his antics in the dressing room
To think how much more talented he could of been if he left his snuff box alone, I'm not English or a rangers fan but I knew how good gazza was, if messi was around when gazza was playing he wouldn't of had a chance that's how good Gascoigne was in his prime even with his head in the clouds from cocaine and whatever else he was into then.
I think based on these stories you can fully understand why Hoddle left him out. Great player, and great guy, but he just brings chaos with him everywhere he goes.
What a genuinely lovely bloke, so caring and sensitive, not to mention hilariously funny! Love live the legend that is Gazza.
first time in ages Ive heard Gazza actually be able to tell stories with out slurring or stuttering. Looks like he's doing a lot better.
filmed in 2012
ah nice one I didn't read the description. Thank you.
Netflix should do a series about Gaza, the rise and fall of a superstar. Hope he stays clean
No one could touch him on the Rise.
We all know about his issues we don’t then documented again why can’t people concentrated on his playing career. I’ve just seen a video of him destroying Aberdeen
Well how right were u
Gaza? The gaza strip?
The fall ? He didn't really fall did he was amazing
Gazza is a National treasure. As A Geordie couldn't be more proud of the kid .. Toontoon
Just glad he can still remember the good old days what a lad!
Legend of a man, so much talent and character
Gazza was a class player. Loved watching him on Football Italia on a Saturday morning.
I thought Football Italia was a Sunday?
@@SubsbenchThe magazine style show was on Saturday mornings, then they had a live game on Sunday afternoons. Happy 90’s memories 🙂

Gazza never helped himself but the press helped him less
(Build them up to tear them down)
We loved you at Ibrox Gazza💙♥️
He always played with heart and a huge smile.....

What a player he was ......we were lucky to possibly see the best of him at Ibrox when he came to Rangers.
The Greatest Gazza, every true football fan loves you.

He made a joke out of himself
@@jay-lm4we and yet here you are watching an interview with him. Why?
That yacht story is nuts.
Sounds like he was lucky to make it to the pitch alive!
Met him at Skeggy last year! Cherish my photo with him.
Wor’ Gazza true legend, keep on being sober mate, us geordies love ya
Screw sober, we want you happy Paul, you are the BEST!!!
“Lothar Matthäus best midfielder in the world”
No I am.
Words like that are what separate the good from the great.
World cup winner Matthäus agrees.
ShortThought Matthaus was massively overrated

Matthaus was a cog in a machine.
Gaza was a special talent, a wizard with a ball at his feet.
Legend.
Legend.....!!
1:32 love that Gazza knew how bloody good he himself, was!
You could tell by the way he played. He took risks where most others would play safe, especially in big games
"I know I missed the penalty but I didn't know it went as far as Luton"
Biggest mistake Hoddle ever made was not taking Gazza to 98, that team with Gazza could have won it but he took Batty and Rob Lee instead and deprived us of Gazza and Scholes together
Apart from that in 97-98 he was in poor form for Rangers and moved to Boro in the Championship?
TRUE
Gazza was past it come 98 it's hard but you gotta tear your love for a player from reality
@@lukepowell1988 different player in an England shirt
love u gazza
Anyone with half a heart was pretty much crying with Gazza that night in Turin
The greatest most natural player ever who was English. World class and still English people are giving him stick. Muppets.
I'm Scottish saying this as well.
Greg w has excellent taste in football.
Of course Mark, imagine if this current England team had Gazza on the field rather that Dele Ali. Unbeatable is my first thoughts.

Take care Paul all the best wee jimbo
No...I am.
Ledge

waddle, lineker gazza, all spurs players... the reason why we shouls all remember how beautiful spurs are
The English side 2018 would have won the World Cup with Gazza in the team. What a marvellous and magic player. All the best for him!
An unbelievably good footballer truly amazing, just couldnt contain his demons,
If England had Gazza feeding the balls into Kane and scoring himself, I dread to think how good England would be.
