They cover service functions, but for me the biggest feature missing on that "slightly above entry level range" is bidirectional controls - for example you could operate the cooling fan control, EGR valves etc to help test the circuits. The Topdon software is Launch based. I have the Topdon ArtiMini which I use for most everyday diagnostic jobs - it is pretty much the same unit as Launch X431Pro Mini.
I noticed they all have much the same diagnostics underneath. The garage my Dad worked in had one of the early Launch machines, it was my job to update it via the internet. And by internet I mean dial up modem. :)
Hi purchased mine about 2 months ago just a home mechanic. Just wonder in live data does it give a battery condition. As just an amateur. Got mine on a good deal £229.
I've only seen battery condition on an ECU that reads and/or works that out itself. My example being a friends Freelander 2 that had a very vague error message on the dashboard. Diagnostics reading the battery condition from the ECU showed it as a fault and I can't remember the scale or figure but it was outside of spec. Tested battery with the TopDon battery tester thing I have and it confirmed battery was about 50% capacity and needed replaced. Brand new battery fitted, I think I told the ECU a new battery was installed. All errors cleared.
Do you have to pay every year in order for this OBD reader to work ? If you dont pay does that still work ? Do you need to have internet to used it ? If you don't updates does that still work without updates ? Out from the box can you used it without wifi or internet ? Can this scan for Fuel Pressure ? And can this scan for compression test ? Is this a Complete diagnostic Scan tools ?does it Scan from 1996 cars going up ? How about Toyota Camry 2001 2.2 Liter 4 Cyl or Buick Park Ave 2003 3.8 Liter does it Scan these cars ? Does this scan for battery ignition parameters ? Does it Scan for a bad head gaskets ? Is this the latest version 2024 ?
I purchased the foxwel nt726 but It doesn't do component test on available systems ie like turn lights on etc, but it is a very good all system scanner I can use it to see if things are active but not use the scanner to activate them, can this tool do that I know the normal 800 can but its 150 a year for update
Is that a thing? Do ECUs store previously cleared errors? I know some have flash counters so you check if it's had new software written. But unless the newest ECUs have started recording old faults I haven't seen it anywhere in the diagnostics.
One question, is it possible to bring up the android homescreen by swiping up on the screen? To be able to change Android settings, install apps, or browse the web if you need to check something out quickly. Basically use it as a tablet. Thanks!
bravo for the superb detailed video ... I would like to know for injectors if I want to change them it has the function new injector codes for an Opel year 2005 please? thank you very much and excuse my English I use an English French translator
Will it code the injectors on your hilux? I have a kun26 also and am going to replace my injectors but I’ve not yet gotten around to buying a machine to code them, I’ve looked at a few around this price range but none are clear that they will actually do this
And that's the problem. Like a lot of the 'features' you don't know if they work until you try them. I've got the Toyota Techstream clone and I know it 'should' be able to. But I won't know until I have to.
@@DavidMcLuckie That's the issue I'm worried about, whether it will perform some specific features on a Lexus Hybrid. The £80 discount makes this unit tempting but if it can't do what I need it to do then I'll be in bother, again. I need to be able to turn on the Hybrid inverter cooling pump to prime the system after a coolant change and to also program the electronic headlight position. Do you know if it can/can't do this? Cheers
@@DavidMcLuckie my understanding is that that is technically pirated software, I know i can buy a “proper” setup or take it to a local garage but I would prefer to buy a unit that can do it all, why spend £400 when you can buy a Wi-Fi dongle for less than £20 and pay about £30-50 to get software such as Carly or similar to do everything except the service items
Both use basically the same interface and files for all the cars. You're really into comparing who has the best hardware and I don't have a comparable Launch unit to compare with.

Love electric handbrake, but I've not had to werk on them. £400 heart attack, do they bundle a defibrillator in the price? Seriously, if you can fork out £400, is a good deal. I've taken my care to a national repair outfit, but they couldn't rest Citroen codes. Code readers for Citroen appear to be difficult to find. 👍
£400 isn't bad. When a garage charges £80 to read a code and diagnose why the engine light is on, it'll pay for itself eventually Not to mention, service yourself and reset oil lights, brake pad lights etc whichll also cost you too. With lifetime updates, it'll pay for itself and a 5 year warranty, it'll last a minimum of that
Electric handbrakes are a very complicated solution to a non existant problem! I hate driving with them and I hate the thought of having to work on them (thankfully our 13 year old Scoobies have proper handbrakes).
Nie polecam. Nie przypomina to launch X431 nie da się tego porównać. Kupiłem wersję 16gb i odesłałem. Ładny wygląd i to wszystko. Tłumaczenia nie ma prawie. Nie warto
It's the way it is nowadays. Jackery is a good example and it worked very well for them. Massive advertising campaign, sending units to every UA-camr they could think of. Got stratospheric sales and are now one of the most recognisable brands for portable power storage.

Ooo new toy! You can never have enough tools! I keep telling myself that 😅. Very cool!
I like the little dongle that stays with it that’s tidy
For the TOPDON AD800BT OBD2 Scanner
On Amazon they said it does
Mileage Calibration: Copy or write the kilometer value
Please can you explain that?
Can it do new key programming,, cheers
Will it do adaptive relearn for a ford focus transmission

Negative. Other than actuating things like the electronic hand brake it can't energise individual components to test, sadly.
How is the topdon 2 years on?
Autel 808 serie better?
Is there inport duty if purchased in Republic of Ireland are there colens for sale if so how can we tell the difference

cAAAAN, the Topdon disable the EGR valve on a Crafter/Sprinter ? :)
Not sure. I've only ever had EGR mapped out with an ECU flash.
Doubt it. It'll need taking out of the ecu, not just 'turning off'

It stops it heating up things you don't want melted.
