I read the books waaay before this movie came out, and they definitely changed SO MUCH of the books, but kept the lore. Probably to adapt it to a kid audience. But it was teens cause the main characters were supposed to meet each other on when they were much younger. But changing the age to 21 is one of the many things they changed for the movie. Lol, it's upsetting cause Alex was my favourite in the book, cause she was like super punk and very badass.
I feel like this was meant to be a 30 minute TV show but they wanted to get better actors so they pitched it as a movie and then they had to throw something together real fast to stretch it out over an hour.

It's based on a book. I haven't read it by know that their birthday is Halloween in the book. Which means that Disney just flubbed at making it a Halloween movie and can't even use the excuse of it being rushed or rewritten to be a Halloween movie.
I actually relatively recently watched this movie again after not seeing it since I was a kid, I had like fully forgotten it existed and then was reminded and had to see it again
This was the first film I got permission to stay up past my bedtime to watch. It was lights out by the time the film finished and I was running from the darkness up to my room. I was scared of the dark for a year 😆

i read the twitches books, and the girls are 14 in the first one. so it's likely that originally they were going to be teenagers but then disney was like "well instead of casting twin nobodies, we could age up the characters and cast the most popular twins since the olsens"

OK, so for anyone who doesn't know: Coventry is a town in England that is just... dreadful. I'm pretty sure the main tourist attraction there is the Greggs (that's like a McDonald's that sells sausage rolls and pasties instead of burgers), and visiting the town is classified as an enhanced interrogation technique under the Geneva Convention. I'm just saying, "Darkness covered the land of Coventry" is old news over here: it's been that way for a while. Also, the darkness just turned out to be a recession.

My favourite thing about this film is the fantasy land is named Coventry, which is just the name of a city in England. To an English person, it’s like a fantasy land named California or something lol.
