I mixed my custard with my home made flax seed gel to reduce the white flakes. It did work and I had no flakiness after my hair dried. I didn't wanna throw my entire jar out so I figured something to do to make it work and it did. I hope this helps someone out there having the same issue.

I am soooo happy I bought this product. I hate the custards it leaves too much residue on my hair. I am going to purchase a lot of this. Once I put it in and it starts drying my curls pop. Very little peeling on my edge but I still am on love with it.
Your hair looks great. I also use Cantu products as well. You stated earlier the custard leaves a film but I find adding more water helps also adding coconut oil or oil of choice locks in moisture and cuts down on residue.

Thats why I stopped using it. I didn't like the sticky residue. The shea moisture curl smoothie works for me. Everyone is different. Love the look - now I'm inspired.
Great job on the tutorial. I am a newbie to this transition and you made me feel even more confident about going this route. However, it's a lot of work and it is WORTH IT!!!
Girl listen sometimes the struggle is real. You look so beautiful in the end. If this works for you stop trying other products and stick with this chick. Different isnt always better its just diffetent. btw Cantu is my shit. I had to learn that too much isnt good. im heavy handed. Glad youre feeling better. We gotta stop.allowing hair to control us. life has bigger problems but you look good.

I use the Cantu Coconut Curling Cream and my hair loves it. Better than Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie. And cheaper. And as always Yonkel, you look beautiful!! God is Good!!

Hey Yonkel!!! I’m very new to the natural world and don’t have as much product experience. I’m not familiar with Cantu products at all on my hair but I am very familiar with the SM Gel Soufflé its a no for me 👎🏾... in my experience though it leaves your hair nice and defined it also leaves a very sticky, waxy film on my hair which isn’t really pleasant to touch.
You mentioned having a residue of some sort on your, I would suggest that it could very well be the SM Gel Soufflé. I realize this video is old so you may have figured it out by now.
BTW, you’re beautiful. That pink looks amazing on you. And your night time look was bomb too 😉

I think I've used the custard before. Try it with only your oil mix water, I think the mixing with creams made it get like that.

I alss use the cantau and like it , but it does leave a sticky residue. I have to compliment you on your make up it is beautiful. would like to see a video on how you apply it.

The flaking is coming from the sea moisture products..the cantu define doesn't leave flakes.

Nice video and cute hair. I think I am going to BC again. I noticed when using the Cantu Define Custard is leaves this whitish residue. It is annoying so I stopped using it.

You have porous hair try using a steamer just before you apply the product.Those cuticles will open up and take in all the product and moisture.
