Someone on Reddit pointed this out. And I understand why, they are not seasoned players and Brennan wants them to be able to have fun and engage with the game and not feel like they are left out....but Brennan is like Hells kitchen Ramsay with his Intrepid Heros and is Masterchef Junior with our Questing Queens and honestly I love it cause it opens up for either the same cast to come back or another group of queens to come in cause Brennan wants them to learn and understand what they are doing but also have fun with it
And for the 4 newbies this "yes and" game play will make them love the game and want to play more. I loved to see their excitement, their joy, their sadness as if this was happening for real. ❤ our questing queens 👸 💖
Whenever im with a group of new players thats exactly what i do, like there are 2 new player's in my campaign so my entire setup is based around supporting them and when need be unleashing to kill off threats that pose too much risk
It was a short season but just in the few episodes the QUEENS GOT BETTER! And Brennon is an exceptional DM because he knows when to let the players alter and pivot the story away from his original design, so that the players can have fun and grow their characters.

Brennan was really on point with the "Yes and" for this season, I don't remember any "no you cannot do that" circumstances. Well, other than telling Twyla she doesn't have the invisibility spell, but he fixed that as fast as he could.
I've enjoyed every season of Dimension 20 but I gotta say, this one is *by far* my favourite. I can't believe how fun it's been watching really enthusiastic beginners! Just pure joy
Brennan's heart is just 100% pure. He's so kind and enthusiastic leading new players through the game, never making them feel bad for needing guidance, and using those killer improv skills to go with the flow when they make "non-traditional" moves. I love it.
This is why I say that some bit of tutorializing is good in D&D. For newbies to the game, it can let them know about things that they can do, but might not be apparent to them. The majority of the role as DM is to be a teacher of the game.
Omg, I played as a kid in the 80’s and forgot how much I loved it back then. I hadn’t known about Dimension 20 until this season. I’m OBSESSED. How fun! Thanks for engaging and upbeat content that resparked a forgotten joy in my life. I can’t wait to get into a campaign!

I LOVE watching these "amateurs" play! I know the jist of how to play from watching shows like D20 and Critical Role, but they're always such advanced players and I'm more about the storylines they come up with anyway. I've never had the courage to try DnD myself because I'm so overwhelmed with all the choices, and I feel like I'd burden other players or the DM because they'd have to take it step by step to walk me through stuff. Watching Brendan do little coaching moments with this group like has honestly taught me SO much, and it's so fun to watch this group get more comfortable playing!
Brennan is so wonderful. He scaffolds out only as far as they need to be able to confidently make decisions. No lecturing, no condescension, just perfect instruction.
Some might think that a dnd show with players that don't know the game well and are beginners is "annoying" or "redundant" but I think it's actually really fun to see new people and celebrities, especially witty funny ones like our queens, fall in love and enjoy dnd as much as veteran fans. And it's a great watch for those wanting to get into dnd but are intimidated by the complexity and fluidity of the gameplay and want to learn and become familiar with it before playing their first campaign. Enjoyed watching this new campaign with all the catty banter and can't wait for more 🥰

Well Mitch you asked a lot of questions. Some of them pretty stupid, not gonna lie. There are four guests here for this short 4 episodes series. There are 4 very famous and popular drag queens who were asked to play for this. D&D is a lot to just "walk into" and again. They are guests who had to spend a lot of time getting into drag and dressed for this so they didn't exactly go into the most prep for this. Bob on the other hand who was the one with the long white hair did do a lot of research on spells and everything for their character but not everyone did or was required to. Maybe if it's this frustrating then don't watch a short clip and make a snap judgement for a series. Watch it or don't. It's not that serious Mary.

Whoever thought bringing a person who doesn’t know the basics and makes no attempt to learn beforehand into a game should reconsider why they are at the table, this is a horribly annoying thing to watch as its a common pet peeve for most players and dms alike

You can't really learn well unless you are on the table yourself, and its not like she's the only one playing. Everybody else had either played it before or extensively watched people do their campaigns before coming in. You say its a pet peeve for experienced dms and most players, but turns out it wasn't for YOU. This campaign is basically for people who like drag queens to be introduced to the game, love it, and ending up subscribing to Dropout, which I think is really successful. The DM here is a "yes, and" kind of DM, one of the best out there, but is strict towards experienced players. yet he doesn't mind explaining to newbies. How can you even hook new players if you get pissy with every little thing and not give grace to others.

Usually when I'm giving someone their first tarot reading I'll use a rather straightforward deck (typically the standard Waite-Smith,) talk them though every step of what I'm doing and why I'm doing it, and clearly go through what each card means and what I'm picking up from it. Similar protocol applies if I'm doing something like casting a geomantic shield chart or an I Ching hexagram: I want them to know that theres a method to the scribbling and fiddling around with yarrow stalks. One of my main love languages is "Hey, look at this! I think it's cool!"
They stole the spotlight from everyone at the table in increasing order from right to left. I completely forgot there was a 3rd because this one took over the D20 shorts algorithm
