I think Mexico was right. Telling little kids that Santa is watching them can only do so much to keep them off the naughty list. Telling them Quetzalcoatl is watching them will work a lot better!
Yes. It reappears in varying forms, but it does recur. Funny thing: the Catholics waged war on "pagan" Christmas, and yet, much of Roman Catholicism is based on paganism. Go figure.
My manager started playing 'jolly' Christmas music all day, every day, in our office (Not even a retail shop, a private office) at the start of November. I've been ready to grab a pitchfork and man the anti-Christmas barricades for weeks!
The irony being that Santa was partially a representation of Saint Nicholas, the Archbishop who would go around gifting poor people and children all sorts of gifts during winter. I guess we know what church really stands for…
Crazy. I recall a similar sentiment in a couple of instances in America during the 1970s, primarily around the ideas that it violated separation of church and state.
Cinderella is actually a noble woman. Her birth mother and father were clearly rich (have you seen how big her house is?!), but Cinderella's stepmother treated her like a servant.
Why Doesn't Santa Like Dijon? | QI 1831pm 20.12.24 the japanese had an Xmas festival wherein they carried a cross upon which was crucified a santa claus.. dunno if that was a one off.
Stateside, it's the opposite; Catholic education explains who St. Nicholas was, while _Protestant_ (mostly Evangelical & Baptist) "education" teaches "Santa is an anagram of Satan!"
"Not that it matters" 🤣🤣🤣
We heard
"They loved Silent Night." That one deserved a lot more laughs than it got.

It certainly works for the Germans with Krampus!
As a mexican, I agree.
This was one of the best QI Christmas specials of the lot. The world record attempts were fun
Good luck stopping him mid-air and asking for Grey Poupon.
So The War on Christmas IS real!!

@largedoglover99 Look up the definition of a cult.
@@largedoglover99 In that case, you do not belong to any cult.

Asking the crowd, now that reminds me of something that a Roman did
Kind of ironic the soviets wanted a blue Santa so it wouldn't be misconstrued as the western version for being red.
Lucoa loves a drink, but don't mention the sister thing.

Yep, it's quite literally derived from (the Dutch) Sinterklaas.
I'm going to guess he got in a fight with the Easter Bell

Did anyone explain to the Dijonese that "Santa" means "Saint" ?
Wouldn't he be called Pere Noel in French? So Father Christmas and not Santa Claus? Maybe they didn't put 2 and 2 together...
@kriswarren2469 They're French.
If they put 2 and 2 together, they'd probably call it "3 and 1".
Not every culture calls him the same thing
Gotta give it to the French, they do love burning stuff... :P
Dirty Papists…. 😂

Cinderella's a class traitor.
Cinderella is actually a noble woman. Her birth mother and father were clearly rich (have you seen how big her house is?!), but Cinderella's stepmother treated her like a servant.
0:48: Le petit what-what? I’d keep trying to look up what the final word of that sentence was if I had more of an idea of how it’s spelt! 😫
jesus
Jee zeus
Jésus, but with terrible pronunciation
the L in the TL affricate in Mexican languages is like the LL in Welsh.
All more valid than the essential modern American Christmas message: Jesus loves capitalism!

Were the Catholics jealous that Santa got to be close to little boys?
And empty his sack.
Oooo
No ,Christmas was getting to commercial and the church wasn’t getting its cut.
Religion can even delude children to sentence Santa to death.
That's what catholic education does.

Paganism? Santa is based on Saint Nicholas, a Christian saint.
Dafuq were the French thinking?
