So much of the animation in this is fantastic, but I think my favorite bit is using the Biliary Flask. The Penitent One can't do anything reasonable like *drink* a healing item or just hold it aloft like some generic RPG protagonist, he has to smash the damn thing on his face and perform a quick sign of the cross with the blood inside it, lol.
The art is fantastic and beautiful, but tbh, the animation (outside of cutscenes) looks weird and uncanny (not in a good way, either, though I will grant that the uncanny feeling it gives overall is intended and good)
@@Jamie-tx7pn Interesting, I have the opposite opinion. To me, the cutscene animation feels odd and unnatural, while the in-game animation is fluid and satisfying. To each their own.

This has a feel of a game that, even if I saw all of the gameplay in a full playthrough, that I would still want to play the game for myself. Everything looks great!

“Prie Dieu” is French, translates to “Pray to God”.
Funny, I thought I heard this game was based on Spanish religion.
Seems like it's based on catholicism post reform during the baroque period.
Heavily bassed on spanish catholicism during the baroque period, it also has a lot of references to local andalusian religious stuff (The dev team is from Sevilla, Spain)

I completely agree. Desecrated Cistern, Crisanta’s theme and the Escriber’s theme were all standouts to me but honestly there wasn’t a single piece that I actually didn’t like. Each piece fit the narrative of the segment perfectly although the Mother of Mothers theme was a bit too jolly imho.

Currently at 29 hours with 92.75% on file. I think I hit credits around the 16 hour mark with no guides. Got the presumably _bad_ ending.
Desecrated Cistern. Umphhh. Any time I had had to backtrack, I was always so happy if it took me through there. That track is sooooo good!

Some of the dark music in this, like at 26:50, reminds me of the old Bram Stoker's Dracula on Snes.

All collectibles for example are body parts of holy men/women.
So it kinda makes sense
I bought this in the Fall Sale, it's so fucking dark but it's very fun to play. Pretty hard to beat the "blood in the helmet" scene for a tone setter.

@@2k13Ghost Definitely not thesis level as I have not done my thesis (and will most likely go that high into that field), but definitely some knowledge on old Catholic symbolism and rituals (such as Flaggelation). It has been a while since I watched the video so can not give specifics past that.

hi lobos !for your opinion what is the difficult of this game if you think at game like salt and sanctuary or death gambit?
knew it...just came by to see what you think of this game. i like it, i think it's the metroidvania style that's wearing a bit thin on me due to Hollow Knight, Guacamelee, Death's Gambit, Salt and Sanctuary, Ori...etc. I think the environmental hazards and enemies have some nice variation to them...just wish this genre could offer more of an experience. Would be nice to see Team 17 take this idea and evolve it into a full 3D world...i don't there's much left to find within the 2D realm...it's certainly feeling like a grind to me at the moment. Good luck!
Funny how you mention those games in particular and then say you wish the genre could offer more. Each of those games are extremely different experiences, Hollow Knight is no where near Guacamelee in content. They all just happen to be side scrolling platformers.

Yeah but this isn't twitch. I hate the fact that lobo does little playing and more assing around and talking. And the sub shoutouts are annoying af. If you're gonna put runs like this on UA-cam edit it down so it's watchable like I dunno, nearly everyone else.
