I am a Vaulted Vinyl user. I started using their protectors about a year ago and I've never had any issues withany of their products. I believe Vaulted Vinyl pops also have UV protection.
I’ve always used Vaulted Vinyl. Love it. It’s my go to. My pops don’t fall often but when they have from about 7 feet no damn whatsoever. I will say that overtime of not taking out the pop from the protectors (when I took out a pop from its protector after 2 years to get signed) a flap might break off. Or if you constantly take it out a flap could break. I guess like anything overtime it’ll weaken. Other than that for me the protectors always worked well.
I really love when you guys do these kind of videos. The experiments we all want to do but can't... very informative. I like the PopShields myself but that's personal preference. No complaints and the price is right.
I recently received my Fluffy blacklight pop and it was shipped in a pop shield cardboard sorter inside another box! Never even knew that brand existed (for sorters)! Great experiment and work on this!
Does shumi pop protectors damage the pop? The bottom of the protector sticks up abit which causes resistance. Wouldn't that indent the bottom of the pop over time?
It’s so funny you did this video 3 weeks ago I was searching everywhere to find “the best protector” I ended up going with Shumi. I liked the no tab option and that it is east to scan ur funko as well. My 16 year old son was saying he didn’t like the no tab so I ordered the tab ones to see what my son is liking about the tab. I don’t like how chalice is so expensive for shipping fees.
Timely video for me bc I started looking for pop protectors today. As 6 other people brought up, I'm concerned about POTENTIAL UV protection. But bc so few people brought up this issue, I doubt that a lot of companies take UV protection as an issue. One thing no one brought up was if the protectors are acid free (I ddi a search for acid). Besides the protection a protector provides, you also want to make sure that the protect doesn't discolor the boxes over time (imagine a black turning a bit green bc of the acid). But AF seems to be my issue and no one elses. I'll go through the ones that you reviewed and see if any of them are AF as well and I'll let you know. Greatly appreciate the video. And please don't take my comments as negative, they're just two other issues that concern me (and maybe only me). Thank you for the time and effort (substantial I know) that you put into making this video.
I think the biggest issue is to truly test these you would have to make them hit the same way. Each one hit a little different which one would argue is not a good test then. When I switched to armors I notice the bottoms of some of the pop bent in because of the protector pushing up on it like you showed.
We explained that, it's impossible to do exactly the same drop. Which is why we said at the end that we understand that they all fell differently. It was a good test to see how a pop protector would handle the fall. They all did pretty well. 🤘
Great video GC! As the owner of Lootlocks I would also like to point out the fact we offer the highest rated UV and scratch resistant protectors at the best cost. With a collaborator code you also save 10% bringing that cost down even more. Most of our competitors are coming in at a higher cost without the protection we offer. Would love to see you guys compare that as well. UV is a silent killer and as a long-time collector I have had this problem. So when I designed our case it was all about the best protection at the best cost. As for the tab it is a split community to go with or without. As a father of three little girls that extra barrier is just another level of protection. I wont comment how many pops and pez candy they have successfully opened. The tab is our LOCK! Would love to send you some of our new 8mm uv resistant hard stacks to review. I know when you see it for yourself you will be impressed and love it as much as we do. We also carry the .5mm uv and scratch resistant protectors in 6-inch, 2-packs,10-inch standard and wide version. I will be adding a no tab version by the holiday season as well so everyone can have the same quality and protection, we offer regardless which side of the vote you are on. Our protectors are shipped from our manufacturer in bundles of 20. To save cost and pass that on to the consumer we only verify the amount is 20 by weight and a visual inspection. With the rapid growth of my company I have hired a social and web design team. Big things coming all because of the community and the trust in our brand.
Hey Captain Pops! We actually had mentioned the UV protection, but it didn't make it to the final edit because we didn't test it. We plan on doing a test of that in the future, and LL will definitely be included in that test! We would absolutely love to check out your hard protectors, we actually plan on testing hard stacks soon. Thank you SO much! ❤
Thank you! Oh goodness there are even MORE protectors than just these, but we limited ourselves to 10. We may have to do a part 2! 🤣 Nice choices, we enjoyed all of those ourselves!
One of my favorite videos y'all have done! My opinion, you need a controlled drop. For example: stuffed animal on a string that can be released with a pull or a switch that swings into the Pop so the drop is consistant. Just my thoughts. Really love this video! To be fair, this isn't science, its Funko Pops lol! Keep being awesome yall!
Personally when I buy protectors I like the .6mm. If I'm buying them I prefer these ones in this order Shumi, Vaulted Vinyl and TitanShield. If we're talking hard stacks its definitely 7 Bucks A Pop Popshield Armor Hard Stack with them magnetic lids 100% worth every penny!! I have to have them good protectors for my pops Marvel, Disney, Horror and AAAAANNNIIIIMMEEEEEEEEE. Great video as always and thank you and keep it up!
Question about shumi. There's abit of resistance on the bottom of the protector where it sticks up abit. Will that damage the bottom of the box over time?
My favs are definitely the chalice protectors, have bought from 7bap, big apple and shumi, even ecotek from Amazon, best bang for buck for me has been chalice
For my cheaper pops I use the .30 EcoTek protectors. For my mid range value and personal favorite pops I use the .50 Malko. For my higher value pops and autographed pops I use Funko UV and EcoTek hard stacks. For the boy dog pops I use the Pop Armor hard stacks. Thanks for the awesome informative video.
A lot of folks have mentioned EcoTek in the comments but unfortunately we did not hear back from them. We may do another protect off in the future and gather some more protectors from more companies for testing! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Great and fun vid!!!! Can't believe how thin funkos protectors are. Omg. Thats horrible lol. Tossing thos pop of the shelves making me nervous couse didn't want it to land on one of your kitties.
I needed this video! Thank you, and after all these amazing tests; my favorite has to be chalice. The damage from the drop wasn't great to see but everything else including price seemed to be the best IMO. The ease of assembly and how flat it was when stacked was solid to me. This video saved me some money before I decided to go with the more expensive, "Vaulted Vinyl".
Great video. Really Informative. Heroes Hideout now sell their protectors In packs of 10. They also increased thickness to .5 from .45. They are my preferred protector at .80 each. 7BAP protectors aren’t bad but I find them to not stack as well. I believe they have also recently changed their design and I find the tops tend to bubble up causing the stacking issue.
See the tabs are all about going slow, finding the right angle before you put it in, you know? 👀 (I do like them.) Also. The film is SO satisfying... I'm disappointed if it's not there. Interesting that Titanshield had a film when I've bought them... even had a really nice pull tab to guide you. Really easy, best experience imo. (Hardest part is really just accessibility in Canada... extra shipping not worth it for some, even they're great.)
Will you do a review on the UV protection of different protectors? Sun damage is something I almost never hear channels talk about and I think it would be a great topic. :) Personally, I always buy the VV soft protectors because they claim UV protection. Same with the new Funko Hardstacks. Would love to see if that's actually true and if there are other companies that offer the same.
We have some insight on UV protection if you head over to our website! We currently are running more tests with 4 other protectors however we tried it with one of the companies listed above (no names) and its a fad for the most part!

we discussed UV in the uncut version but I removed it because we mainly just discussed which protectors had UV protection. We've talked about dropping a video in the future that will include an experiment :)
I have 7BAP and they do require more forming but they feel better quality. I also use ekotech only because I moved and needed to protect almost 800 pops. They are thinner but the quality seems good. Lastly I have about 100 titan shields and they seem good quality but are very rigid. If they are reused very much they do refs to break. Totally glad to see you guys do this video. Needed it two years ago. Lol!!
Yeah as a collector of figures not only Funko pops I’d don’t really go to into this as most of the protectors will do the job as long as you don’t go dropping them for 8 feet off the ground waiting to smash into a solid floor. If you are concerned about them falling perhaps put cushion flooring mats down to help soften the fall and you should be okay .
Thanks for the great video. One thing that would have been nice is to make a note of the protectors that have scratch resistence and UV protection. As for the drop test maybe having a corner drop and a flat fall from a standard height.
Damn I’ve been using Vaulted Vinyl. I posted once on Instagram and their main page DMed showing me how to properly fold the protector, so the pop doesn’t lift up a little. Morale of the story , never drop your pops lol
I stick with 7bucksapop. I've tried the thicker ones and I find them to be too ridgid and have experienced splits and breaks on them as well as box damage more than what I have had with Pop shields when they have fallen.
Very informative. I am usually all oob except one or two grails. But I might look into some. I know you probably didn't want to destroy to many boxes, but you should have done a new pop for each drop
Are you guys going to do a hard stack comparison? I would love to see you guys test out the vaulted vinyl ones that are releasing soon that supposedly able to withstand a hit with a hammer.
I’m not going to lie, I use Eco-Tek all day. I love the tab & the peel-able plastic so it looks crystal clear. It gives me all the protection I need for my pops. Just don’t drop your shit regardless of what you use lol
We don't purposely drop our pops, but things happen where kids, animals, and just regular mishaps happen where you need that protection, which was the reason for our drop test. 😊
Lootlocks are trash i bought them over Pop Fiend ones and they break so easily, glue comes apart easily and they are very foggy plus shipping and presentation is terrible. Def goin to try PF ones and give them a go ive been using VV but prices are expensive
I use ecotek soft protectors. I was looking for something cheaper and they had a bunch of good reviews. No problems so far. Had a floating shelf fall once that had 8 pops on it. Most were in hardstacks. All the hardstacks broke and there was some slight pop damage. Guess the brand? ...funko
The majority of my protectors are vaulted vinyl except a 40 pack of Pop fiend I tried So witch would you say was the best for the least amount of money? Hero collect ? 🤔
We thought all of the protectors were pretty great besides the Funko protector. They all have their good and bad attributes. 7 Bucks A Pop, Chalice, and Popfiend were great and were priced very well!
do these companies also made protectors for other Funko products (6" ,rides, dorbz) you did not mention. I get those from Retroprotection which has a wide range of protectors even non funko
Good question! This video was more or less about the standard pop protector so we did not include that data. To answer your question, most companies carry different sizes but 7 Bucks A Pop carries the most variety. We can follow up with more data in a future video :)
We did not review them and haven't used them. We reached out to many companies and we only featured those companies who responded back to us. We could reach out to some of the companies again and even new companies in the future for more tests. Keep your eyes peeled for that content in the future!
Can you do hard stack/protector next please. I’ve always heard 7bucksapop/sheildarmor is the best, but I’m wondering if there are petter ones at a better price.
Avoid Lootlocks, they suck ass, had faulty protectors. They varied from cracked when opening them up, others had gaps on the glued side on the bottom corner or small cracks. Sent video proof 30/40 were bad and they wanted me to ship them back at my cost, to get another batch, didn't want them as they were bad. They also stink at responding in a timely matter.
@@pfprotect going to give yours a try ive been seeing a good amount of PF over VV and that surprising given you guys only have one size right now so definitely will try them!
Sometimes the box sizes end up changing depending on the figure. The ride box may have changed over the years. Our best advice is to check pop protector websites for their various sizes and asking questions. 7 Bucks A Pop is our go to company and they have almost every size for every box. Check em out!
We gathered the data about 2 weeks ago. Everything unfortunately is going up in price, so we assume they got a new batch in that could have been a bit pricier. 😊
My thoughts: -Tabs are poopy. -I don't use many soft protectors. The ones I have now are the ones I get from Mystery Grail. -What a great informational vid! -Yer both swell, and I dig yer swagger.
Too bad you didnt hear back from EcoTek...hope you do get to do a future video with them I've brought 6-700...love em. They do thave the plastic on it and the locking tabs (which I'm a fan of) and I've had more than a few drop w/o issues. As far as "ease" goes, my nieces (now 12 and 8) have keeptheirs in em too and they would take em in and out of the protectors and boxes on the regular w/o issues. Plus they stack em like 7 high 🤣
My first pick is malko I tried 7bucks a pop but had half of my protectors come damage right on the lid corner so probably will never order soft protectors from them again but will still buy the armored protectors tho love that magnet lid
@@Gastlecast yeah i think it just makes the video more revisitable and navigatable. If someone is trying to see reviews of specific pop protectors, they can just go to that timestamp be done. As a viewer, I just want to know reviews on Pop Fiend, VV, Shumi and 7bap (don't really care about other companies) and the conclusion based on what I value more; but it was so hard to find and didn't finish the video. But just a feedback from 1 random viewer (doesn't mean I'm right) also I commend how much effort making these videos are (I know they're time consuming).
Fun video, but the amount of times tabs was mentioned and the hate for them was a bit much. Felt like I was watching some propaganda video on the war on tabs. The difficulty y’all showed in plugging them in felt like a late night infomercial where someone can’t plug something into an outlet.
@@brooklyngambaro1578 We would like to do a round 2 eventually and plan on reaching out again to the companies we didn't get to or that didn't answer this time. There are so many protectors out there, just testing 10 was a lot of work!

@@Gastlecast I’m just kidding :) but I understand. I have 3 kids myself & if they got any where near my pops they wouldn’t survive 10 seconds lol
Great video guys 👍👍
Thank you!!
The ones i use are . 35mm and cost $2aud each or $15aud for 10. They have laminate on them i have to peel off.
Yeah, the plastic you have to peel off is annoying but we're glad its there to protect the protector.
the vaulted vinyl hardstack coming up is the best, hammer proof from testing
Best how so? Its $30 when do you or have you ever taken a hammer to a stack lol plus it bends in once hit the owner even said🤣
We are testing soft protectors here. 😊
I bought some Kollector protectors recently really liked them , I’m lookin to buy some Lootlocks next 🔥
The lootlocks are great!
Guess the brand? ...funko
😭 our hard stack video is coming soon!
I would say vaulted vinyl is the best and 7 bucks pop is second best. Those are the ones I use on my pops
🤘 great choices!
Give ours a try you wont regret it🙌🏽
Timeout... is that a blacklight Gastley on the shelf behind y'all???
HA! Someone made a Gastley out of perler beads :) We have new figs coming soon and BL mayyyy be on the roster!
That was some great info
Glad we could help!
Definitely need to do hard stacks next
We will be! 😊
The majority of my protectors are vaulted vinyl except a 40 pack of Pop fiend I tried
So witch would you say was the best for the least amount of money? Hero collect ? 🤔
Howd you like pop fiend thinking about buying some
We thought all of the protectors were pretty great besides the Funko protector. They all have their good and bad attributes. 7 Bucks A Pop, Chalice, and Popfiend were great and were priced very well!
7BAP >> VV (same protection for half the price)
🤘
I love this show
I love this comment! ❤
I honestly think the thicker a protector is the more it’s going to get damaged when it falls because if you drop a hard stack it’s for sure cracking
That's definitely a concern
awesome video!!! I like the amazon ones. lol
Thank you!❤️
19:19 I felt that
LOL! They one hit pretty hard!
My fav is the .5 from titanshield
Great choice!
do these companies also made protectors for other Funko products (6" ,rides, dorbz) you did not mention. I get those from Retroprotection which has a wide range of protectors even non funko
Good question! This video was more or less about the standard pop protector so we did not include that data. To answer your question, most companies carry different sizes but 7 Bucks A Pop carries the most variety. We can follow up with more data in a future video :)
So which one do you use and prefer?
We prefer 7BAP.
Would you recommend the Malko protectors or the EcoTek protectors?
We did not review them and haven't used them. We reached out to many companies and we only featured those companies who responded back to us. We could reach out to some of the companies again and even new companies in the future for more tests. Keep your eyes peeled for that content in the future!
@@Gastlecast okay
Can you do hard stack/protector next please. I’ve always heard 7bucksapop/sheildarmor is the best, but I’m wondering if there are petter ones at a better price.
We plan on it! 😊
Give us a shot you wont encounter that with us✅
Yup i can second this lootlocks straight garbage foggy and break easy
@@pfprotect going to give yours a try ive been seeing a good amount of PF over VV and that surprising given you guys only have one size right now so definitely will try them!
That really stinks, sorry that happened. Thank you for sharing your story!
@@Gastlecast no, thank you guys. Great review and thorough demonstration of different brand, it rocked
Just got a question about the pop ride protectors the old pop ride they will fit in the protectors but the new pop rides don't do you know why
Sometimes the box sizes end up changing depending on the figure. The ride box may have changed over the years. Our best advice is to check pop protector websites for their various sizes and asking questions. 7 Bucks A Pop is our go to company and they have almost every size for every box. Check em out!
Thanks
Heroes Hideout raised the price of their pop protectors to 99 cent now. I'm sure they are capitalizing on the traffic you sent to their site.
We gathered the data about 2 weeks ago. Everything unfortunately is going up in price, so we assume they got a new batch in that could have been a bit pricier. 😊
That's awesome
🥰
anotha great vid! next is hard stack protectors plsssss and thanks!!!
Coming soon!
My thoughts:
-Tabs are poopy.
-I don't use many soft protectors. The ones I have now are the ones I get from Mystery Grail.
-What a great informational vid!
-Yer both swell, and I dig yer swagger.
tabs suck :/
Hero’s hideout 100% has packs of them, I know this because I ordered a “4 pack Pop Protector” and it was just 4 Pop Protectors lmao
We did not see them on the website, odd how they have it listed as a different item. Thanks! 😊
@@Gastlecast no problem, I live by a few of their stores and they also sell 10 packs there.
Too bad you didnt hear back from EcoTek...hope you do get to do a future video with them
I've brought 6-700...love em.
We're excited to test them out when we get our hands on them!
My first pick is malko I tried 7bucks a pop but had half of my protectors come damage right on the lid corner so probably will never order soft protectors from them again but will still buy the armored protectors tho love that magnet lid
We don't feel that a bad batch should warrant never purchasing again- but we understand! 😊
Most of mine are TitanShield. But I just finished the 100 I bought long time ago. So might be going with the cheapest like 7bucks a pop or Hideout
7BAP has great protectors!
Im using VV but I’ve been hearing so many good things about Pop Fiend so ima have to try them out anyone experience with them?
Well, we did a whole video on them right here, soooooo.... 🤣
You should have had your kitteh knock them off. 😸 Kittehs are very good at that and do not like someone else doing their job. 😹
wish there was a timestamp option on the video :(
We put in a lot of work (3-4 hours daily) on videos, unfortunately that would just add to the work. Sorry to disappoint!
Am I the only one who takes off the wrap after I've folded and put the pop inside?
Probably not! We're probably the weird ones 🤣
Stacking two is EZ stack 5-8 of them next time please!!
It's just to show whether or not they stack flat. 😊
You guys are really judgy about tabs...It locks in the flavor!!!!
🤣 yeah, no thanks! Tabs are just another step we rather not deal with!
Ecotek has great prices and good 5 mm
We need to test them next!
Can you pit the Pop Armors vs the Lootlocks Hard stack?
We will be working on a hard stack video soon!
Fun video, but the amount of times tabs was mentioned and the hate for them was a bit much. Felt like I was watching some propaganda video on the war on tabs. The difficulty y’all showed in plugging them in felt like a late night infomercial where someone can’t plug something into an outlet.
That's exactly how infuriating tabs are. 😉
Why r u using a signed vision pop to drop test these 😱😭
Use a cheap pop not an expensive one lol😅
It was a pop we used to test markers on for a video we did on paint pens. It is not signed by the actor.
@@Gastlecast ah makes more sense. I was wondering why u were using it. haha
Before i watch the video 7bap #1
🤘
Malko or titanshield ?
7 bucks a pop is our personal fav!
Why isn’t Ecotechs 0.5 mm protectors on here?
Because they did not answer our emails. 😊
@@Gastlecast understood!
@@brooklyngambaro1578 We would like to do a round 2 eventually and plan on reaching out again to the companies we didn't get to or that didn't answer this time. There are so many protectors out there, just testing 10 was a lot of work!
Meh I'm an out of the box collector and I have 20 pops hopefully 21 soon
fair enough!
The most cheapest .50 is 7bucksapop protectors anyone know any cheaper .50s?
They're our favorite!
I use the EcoTek .36 protectors they’re cheap at 0.59 cents each for the 100 pack and do a good job. I did a little testing my self with them I really do like them I have about 400 of them.
Sweet! We didn't hear back from them for the test
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
yassss
Need hard stack test
Coming soon!
Why you guys didnt use a $5 Funko Pop from Amazon ... New in Box .... WHY !!!! LOL .... Every time it drops ...it hurts...lol
😱
The lid on Vaulted Vinyl protectors has a very thin hinge and they break off easily
We've heard that but had not encountered that during our review
Pretty sure the Funko brand protectors are actually just dust covers.
They're so thin, do they even protect against dust? 🤔😂
I feel sorry for Vision. 😅
🤣
Disappointing you didn’t rate them at the end of the video🙄
Maybe next time!
Thanks for this. As a new collector I definitely needed it. I’ve put majority of my pops in PopFiend protectors but someone KEEPS suggesting 7BAP protectors so I’m going to try a few of those
You definitely should and let us know how you like them. We love both. 😊
