    Watched your video a few years ago because Im left handed and wanted a P series hammer fired Sig. I now own two P220R's because of your manipulation techniques that can be done by a southpaw. Thanks for posting!

    Really wish Sig would have made an Ambidex version of the P226 by now. This was my dream gun as a kid and now that I can afford it, I'm not so sure I want it over a gen5 Glock. Never really thought of shooting left as a handicap tho, I use the controls as you do on any pistol.

    Props to you and this video, had my eye on a Mk25 and wasn't sure how easy or if at all using the controls would be

    Thank you so much for this video. I've set my mind to buying a p226, and since i have been forced to re-train lefty since an injury a year ago i've been wondering how it would work for me. This gives me all the information i require.

    Great video. I found the tip for the slide lock using the right hand very useful. I starting shoot pistols right handed although I am left eye dominant and i recently made the decision to begin shooting left-handed full-time

    On the range those would work well but in a pinch or a combat situation you don’t want to have to break the position and hold of your strong hand. For that reason Ive seen alot of guys up here in Canada (we are issued the 226 in some units) cant the gun to the right and while canted push the decocker lever with their right thumb. That way in an emergency you are able to just fire without having to reset your strong hand position.

    Great helpful video. Other videos spent 10 minutes telling me less than this guy did in under two...

    As a lefty with a P226 MK25 I find shooting it more comfortable than my S&W service pistol that was modded left handed!

    Sigs are great guns but definitely a disadvantage if ur a lefty. Berretta and Glock are much more lefty friendly

    We are presuming here that the support side has not been injured.

    You can actually switch the mag release to the right side for lefties.

    Have you ever accidentally hit the mag release when shooting with your left hand?

    • @kastapostgard5306
      @kastapostgard5306 5 років тому

      Rich im a lefty and shoots a P226, no hazard whatsoever to hit the mag release at least not with the standard release. Maybe if you fit a taller one it would be an issue, but having the standard mag release and releasing it with your index finger works so well I havent even concidered switching sides. Only operation thats a disadvantage is releasing the slide with your left index as your grip is not a firing position thus loosing time to readjust. Everything else is no problem at all operating left handed.

    This video confused me so much bc I went to a gun shop the other day and handled a sig for the first time (handgun in general) and the slide locks automatically when it's pulled back! This video made me think that you manually had to push the slide lever up to lock the slide into place.

      pptx100 that is because you did not remove the magazine.

    • @bobclifton8021
      @bobclifton8021 4 роки тому

      It only locks to the rear automatically IF an empty magazine is ne the weapon. No magazine, no lockback.

    We should have manufacturers who actually care to produce a pistol safe, accurate, and efficient for left handers. Why should we have to not have all of the same luxuries as a right hander without spending 4600.00 on a custom made 1911 and that be our only option on the market? I love the Sig P226, can’t buy it...I love the Baby Eagle II, can’t buy it. Can’t buy either of them without having to suffer the lack of features that would make the experience like that of a right hander and that’s just not fair to us left handers.

    • @bobclifton8021
      @bobclifton8021 4 роки тому

      The fact is the consumer market across the board is geared toward right handed people only. As far as the manufacturer is concerned there's not enough of us lefties to worry about. A few manufacturers make special Left hand models but very few in the hand gun market.

      @@bobclifton8021 yeah it’s still a cop out excuse and in my opinion a poor decision if you really know the true amount of left handers. Thankfully H&K knows the value, Glock gen 5s are now offering it, and look at the Ruger line up in 2020, they have more ambi controls as well. Some companies are smart

    • @soundersiren07

      Most new striker-fired polymer pistols are ambi now, either directly or with switching the controls. The Sig320 is ambi. I haven’t seen any hammer fired pistols go that rout as of yet. But the market is driving ever more so to Glock inspired designs

    You’re better off with an HK. They at least make guns that are completely ambidextrous and many models
