You are cray cray if you think I am fast forwarding thru the viewing of your finished paintings. That’s the 2nd best part of the video. 😊 I LOVE all of them that you showed. I could have a whole wall of your paintings and sit all day looking at them. You can’t go wrong with the colors you used in this video. So classy!

If you go back and look at the part where you mixed the new batch of gold, you said you stirred the silicone more than normal and no caterpillars. And you stirred the heck out of the black I think that is the secret, stir the silicone more. Love the fix!

I did a small experiment about caterpillars, when I put the drops of silicone right on top of each other in the cup, no matter how much I stirred, I got tons of the buggers.... I might be way off on this but that kinda helped me kill a few caterpillars...

  • @jonnylumberjack6223

i think the caterpillars are maybe because you don't stir your silicone in much. so you are getting small 'streams' of silicone droplets in your paint. i think you've said before that stirring silicone in thoroughly would mean small cells but that's not my experience. i think cell size is more to do with the paint consistency. but that's my opinion, not a fact, so feel free to ignore me :)

Toss that paint! That's what I'm talkin' about. ❤ it! And those dopey caterpillars... 🐛 I tried a couple of things. Different PM recipes, different number of drops of silicone in each cup, varying the amount of stirring and speed of stirring, folding the silicone into the paint in the cups, how much you torch, no torching, torch before tilting, torch during and/or after tilting, varying the time to let the cups rest after flipping, not flipping cups and just doing straight pours. Quite frankly, I'm exhausted.
What I found was that the consistent factor that produced caterpillars was the lines of layered paint that landed on the canvas, either by flipping and dragging or a straight pour and dragging the paint out of the cup. I also found that the coconut milk hair serum did not create caterpillars in any of the aforementioned scenarios.
Yep. They were bothering me. Another thing I "tested" side by side, was how I layered the paint in the cups. I layered cups in the zigzag pattern that you use (which I prefer), and then I layered another cup by tilting the cup and pouring the paint down the side of it. Like layering for ring pours. The sliding down the cup seemed to exterminate the caterpillars. And then the pour from up high for a really dirty, filthy pour kept the caterpillars away. Yes. I did this.
I feel a Styx song coming.....

  • @jcb0818

Had a thought about the caterpillars - you know how you pour the paint in the cups back and forth??? Try pouring it in the cups in a circle. If you get circular caterpillars, it’s the silicone popping in the “stripes” from the cup. Does that make sense???

Okay, finished, wow, was I shocked when you threw the cup of paint lengthwise across the whole canvas, I was expecting you to do it over the top part you didn't like, but to retain the bottom which you did...However, I can still see why you like the final version too, it's great! When it was clearly two separate halves, it reminded me so much of the art-cinema theater I go to in Corvallis (called The Darkside ) and then there is another theater directly across the street where they have concerts...called The Whiteside!!!...so your darkside-whiteside pour was just perfect. It would be fun to see you try some dips after being inspired by McE , I really liked hers and thought they were unique! Kinda like your negative-space pours...
