I can definitely relate to this idea. I can't declutter my house, I can't care more about my health, I can't persue my hobbies, etc - until I can get my eating under control.

When we are surrounded by people overeating and thinking that is normal is very difficult to take the right decision for our health. Friends, family, co-workers, they usually critique my choices and push me to take the wrong decision
You're one of my favourite keto influencers, Amy, simply because you keep it real. I struggle with still over-eating on keto, though it doesn't approach my levels pre-keto. There are low-carb or keto foods that are addictive. Dairy, for example, excites the opioid pathways in our brains. I find that I have more control over my portions when I limit dairy and sweeteners and even home-made keto treats. I don't eat keto processed foods found in the supermarket, and this I'm sure helps. Fat is addictive (think butter). When I remove these addictive keto foods from my diet, I am in way more control. Also, fixing my food (going keto) has allowed me to do the emotional processing work that has 100% improved my mental and emotional well-being. I'm part of an outfit that focuses on recovery from food addiction AND teaches us emotional management tools IN COMMUNITY. My life has changed for the better.
Yes I was wonderering if you were doing well. Your last several videos were longer production and very informative. Look forward to hearing more from you. My reason for eating too much is that the low carb food I eat tastes delicious, and it fulfills my hedonistic tendencies. Cheer
Thanks Amy, you are absolutely spot on about this. It's so important for me to look at what's going on in my life which is directly related to my self care and well-being. I see an Art Therapist, practice yoga along with figuring out my low carb eating. I appreciate your perspective, as always!
It's kind of like what Casey always says. If hunger's not the problem, then food is not the answer. It feels sometimes like I use food to fill the emptiness. But it's not that my stomach is empty. It's that my soul is empty. Of course, I have a lot to be thankful for its just that it feels like my soul is empty.
Qualified to provide therapy about it? No. Qualified to simply *mention the possibility* that it could be one reason why people have a hard time losing weight or sticking to keto? Yes. Nevertheless, thank you for watching and for your comment.
Most people do the exact opposite and focus on all the other problems to solve first before they can fix their diet. Prioritizing health is the better choice, however it is much harder.
This one hit it out of the park for me. For years I ate my way to comfort whenever I was caring for sick loved ones, in an unhappy marriage, and a crazy stressful job. So grateful to be beyond those life challenges now, and in a healthy relationship with food thanks to you, and AYLA ❤.
Thanks for watching, Patty. I certainly wish I didn't have personal experience with this (and the truth is, to some extent, I'm still in the thick of it), but the silver lining is that it makes me much more empathetic with people who are having a hard time with food. 💛
Good to see your face. I thought I might have unsubscribed. I was listening to too many influencers in the keto world and trying to apply it all. I know what to do. So I quit listening to all the noise and am doing much better. I have my own groove. Love the swag!
Hi Amy, I've watched many of your videos but this is my first comment for you. I just wanted to say that you brought tears to my eyes because I can totally relate to what you say here. I am struggling with some things you mention here and I think that is definitely affecting my weight loss journey. So glad you're back and with such a great topic to boot! ❤
@@amyberger-ketowithoutthecrazy thank you so much. It helps a lot to know I'm not alone! I have some work to do now but so much easier when you have some sense of direction. 💜
Please have Dr. Vera Tarman on for a chat. Her book Food Junkies is essential along with the Keto diet, for those of us who struggle. Also, Kiana Docherty's video on the science of self- discipline, as used by the military to turn thousands of undisciplined youth into highly disciplined soldiers.
Welcome back, Amy! I realize that I used “Everything in moderation!” during my years of obesity. And working my way through the emotional aspect of this weight loss journey (the hardest part) helped me realize that. I’m grateful for emotional regulation! Great video.
Hi Amy I have a question!! I’ve been getting sick quite a bit and I’m not sure if this is from the lifestyle changes I’ve made to be keto. Do you have any advice for this?
Depends on what you mean by "getting sick." Are you talking about something like a cold, or something more like GI/stomach issues? I can't comment without knowing more. Feel free to elaborate, or send me an email here: stallslayer.com/contact-2/
YAY!!! So happy to see you back!!! Great video. You are the absolute best!! And this is such an important topic. Food/binging/weight focus is an easier and or familiar distraction from things we don't want to look at in life. I love this - I talk about this all the time. It's great to ask, "what's the matter love?" in those moments instead of turning to food. And yet, when we use food, we are less resourced to manage whatever is coming up in our lives.
You're not alone. 💛 (If it wasn't something a lot of us deal with, I wouldn't have made a video about it, right?) Please let me know if I can help, or consider joining the virtual support group Casey Durango and I are starting on July 2: www.crowdcast.io/c/2otxl2p09u1z
Thanks for coming back Amy! Thank you for making a long sleeve t shirt for us who don't ever show our arms in public. Question...did you ever make a HAES video? Not the ones about body neutrality. You said you were going to make one but I can't seem to locate it. Help! TIA❤

Great point to consider. I am the reigning Queen of procrastination. Analysis Paralisis...
“Analysis paralysis”-great term!
Missed you Amy.

Yes, yes, yes! I use food as a distraction from the problems in my life. Overeating on Keto foods.
You're not alone! 💛
Thank you 🙏🏽

Spot on.
Ketosis, ladies and gentlemen.
KETOSIS
Dear Amy, I believe that you ought to keep away from psych issues... you are not qualified to speak on psychological issues

It's good to see you back online. Great video, good "food for thought".
My thought is this: I can handle that “big pile of scary” with keto. I am much calmer, kinder, and more patient now.
You are loved and appreciated for sure! So glad you're doing good!!!!🙏 Talk to you soon. 🤗

@@amyberger-ketowithoutthecrazy I keep wondering how I will react when the next life challenge happens.
It's hard to look inward about this, but I think you are spot on with this, Amy. SO glad to see you back, even if you DO make us do the hard work!
💯Excellent insights!
I quit my corporate job because I hated it!!!
This really resonates with me. Thank you so much for bringing it to light.
It's some of my own story, which is why it makes so much sense to me. 💛
You are right on!!
Thankful to see you back!
Right on Girl!
Maybe it is time to admit other weaknesses in our lives and find ways to heal relationships.
*It made me realize that overeating isn't just about willpower or lack thereof-it often has deeper emotional roots.*
Absolutely!
So glad you’re back & that you’re ok! This topic has my name all over it. Thanks for the wake up. Be well.
You have a really good point.

I would love some merch. Do you send to Portugal?
I was thinking of you yesterday and here you are! Nice to see you back and here another good video! Thanks!
Thanks Amy! I haven’t listened in a while. This was a good subject. 😘

No, haven't made one yet, but thanks for the reminder. 🙂
