Stopped following Roman Sharf a long, long time ago. Him and his business associates are full of themselves and should get ashamed of some of the things they do and say. He has been pushing Purnell for quite some time now, that and a non sense iced out GP 😂
LB manipulated Anthony Farrer into shilling GP with them discreetly backing him. That's why they ended up with that GP "chandelier" after AF miserably failed at flipping it and ultimately ending up in jail.
Thx Fed - totally agree with you and so refreshing to hear someone on the inside telling the truth. Honestly, I think the C. Purnell watches are still too expensive paying 20 % of retail...
Problem is that honest people start a business and when the shit hits the fan they do whatever to minimize damage. This includes fraud and even illegal schemes.
I don't generally like watching watch retailers on youtube due to inherent biases, and I'm sure you have them too, but I love your honesty no mater how blunt it is!
So proud of you! Always loved you and cherished our friendship and I know that you are man of high integrity! You continue to prove that you are man of high morals and impeccable character! Love you brother! Marry Christmas
I watched a lot of watch related content in 2015 - 2017: all manner of different channels. I cut it down through 2018 and 2019 because I realised I was just feeding the beast/the GAS. I've had to do it with other types of content as well, not just watches. From that era of UA-cam or, indeed, from any era of UA-cam, yours is the only UA-cam watch content channel that I still watch with any regularity - and I don't consume any watch content anywhere other than UA-cam these days, and haven't done for a long time. I watch Ben Arthur as well but he came along a bit later, and actually I feel like you both have quite a lot in common in being unafraid to call a spade a spade. Same with Jodie from JOMW - I like his videos but only watch him intermittently because I do not need the constant temptation of a neverending stream of affordable watches (I still remember your "don't spend four grand on Seiko" quote from a video you did maybe 8 years ago). Anyway, keep being yourself: I think it's your greatest asset in both business and in life. Integrity is in short supply, so it's always refreshing to see and deal with someone who has it.
I discovered there is a difference between the Cecil Purnell watch brand that Federico owns and the Purnell brand that the other dealer is selling. The 2 brands share a last name in branding, but made by 2 different companies.
Have to say that I was dubious about some of your content in the past. So let me say that I was wrong and hats off Fed and thank you for being an honest sales person. If you buy for 50K and sell for 65K is a reasonable markup and you are taking a risk on this. I hope to purchase from you in the future.
I see what you mean but in reality its the opposite. Fpj originally made watches that were really good, they got hyped and the price went up. This brand made expensive watches no one bought them, some random guy did then said the price will go up when in reality its already plummeted.
@@RaftGuidePhil De Bethune got destroyed once they took an ownership stake in them. I was considering one a while back, and basically overnight the prices went up 2x once watchbox bought into the company. They did the same with FP Journe (no ownership though). Good on them, bad for the enthusiast though
The watch market is dead, it’s not just this brand that was pumped and dumped. A Hulk at 30k is a pump and dump, pink Tudor at 30k is a big pump and dump. Grey market is about take it where sun don’t shine in next 24 months ADs helped it get here. Good vid, Good luck!
There is a tiny market for ultra-high-end, avant-garde, piece uniques. Fed’s warning about overpaying is valid, but he's also not so subtly suggesting he has the same Purnell pieces as Roman for 3-4x less. This seems more like a personal attack on Roman’s approach, especially when Fed might need sub-$100k prices to move these type of pieces while Roman’s clientele, especially those buying AP or RM, might be more likely to shift to Purnell.
I thought this story would be about those quick flip guys on 47th Street when he bought a vintage Daytona with a rare dial and didn't inform the seller how special the watch was and bragged about it.
i always watch your shows, you are one of the best in my opinion. those hype beast watch dudes who need to know the reference numbers and what type of socks the watchmaker was wearing get boring quick

Thank you for posting this Federico. I saw their LB video talking about the potential for Purnell and it definitely sounded like a pump. Knowing they bought it for 20 cents on the dollar or less really makes sense. The other thing they pump is those goddamn khanjar logo Rolexs. I guess it's the playbook you follow if you have a social media following and want to emulate what Govberg did to FPJ
NO BS HERE! I love it! I truly appreciate your watch reviews and rants. and as seen in today's vid, I like this type of rant. you tell it like it is. an honest salesman in the 21st century a rare find...
The one negative comment that pops up about Fed is that when you go to sell him a watch he tries to lowball you on an offer. Isn't that what every business person does? If you don't like his offer, no one is forcing you to sell it to him. So dumb.
I'm guessing you came across that awkward channel, ConstanTime. Dude is bent out of shape because he's not getting offered the price he was expecting for watches he owns which aren't in demand. Quite disingenuous of him to label his videos with "Greedy" and using photos of T. Mosso to get clicks on his videos
Fed is right as always, but a counterpoint… the ENTIRE luxury watch world makes ZERO SENSE. The idea of spending thousands of dollars on a timepiece when a Timex or your phone does a better job… that in itself is nonsense. But we do it anyway. It’s all bullshit. It’s all hype. So someone pumps the hype? Yeah, that’s bullshit but the entire game is - in a sense - bullshit. Thank you. Ps. I don’t fully agree with what I just said, but I just wanted to see if anyone agrees.

Hi Nicholas, I have made a video about my margins specifically in the past. I usually target 30% (though it changes watch by watch). I would NEVER say I only need 15% (unless its a super in demand watch). 15% gross margin is not sustainable. Listed price also does not always mean sold price.
