- This 1953 Best Picture winner makes some daring post-war comments about the military while also telling the dramatic stories of four, lost somewhat broken people who effect each other's lives in 1941 Hawaii. Let's take a look at how this, at the time, record tying Oscar winner (eight wins and 13 nominations) pulls all that off.

Thank you!
One of my personal favorites in the Golden Age. The climax is one of the best in the series so far and some of the best performances we had also in the series so far. I was satisfied with From Here to Eternity winning eight awards although I also would have liked seeing Cliff taking one for Best Actor. Can't wait for 1954, one of the greatest movies of all time
This one does have a great cast. They are all solid!
I did a double-feature of On the Waterfront and Marty recently. Most of the former's review has been written. I'll probably start it and get a little work done on it this month, but I have some other time sensitive videos that I have to get done first. So On the Waterfront might not be ready until the end of July or early August. But that's at the latest. If I get other things done early, it might be out in June. Anyway, point is you might have to wait a little bit.
As always, thanks for watching!
Sure thing. I'll be here when it's done. Thank you for another entertaining review.
Clift deserved 1 either for this, Red River, or a place in the sun.
2:30 “it’s not the individual that counts”
Why Deborah Kerr and Burt Lancaster didn't win the Oscars instead??????
The New Congress Club is a brothel....just like our US Capitol. Bravo James Jones.
Shout-out to John Finn
What movies would you say follow similarities or inspirations from this film in today's cinema? or even early 2000's films
Honestly, I have no idea. Sorry! Wish I could be more insightful.
The Cinematic Packrat no worries! Thank you!
Haha people today would hate clift’s character’s name
3:30 ***changes from novel to appease military ****
