      ishmell1 Two hall of fame QB's drawing guns in this wild card opener and the Dolphins own Marty and the Chiefs in Joe Robbie😊. And with all the talent Marty couldn't get to the Super Bowl it's like he had a hex on him when the playoffs going back to the Browns days.

      Strange Marino lost to the chargers In a Heartbreaker the next week

  • @gluserty
    @gluserty 3 роки тому +8

    Marino was really dangerous in these early 1990s Wild Card games against the Chiefs, and he also lit up the Chargers twice (once in a win, once in a loss) in this era. I also thought Marino played heroically in the snow against the Bills after that first Chiefs game.
    I did hear of Mike Williams; he fumbled the opening kickoff of the 2nd half of the 1992 AFC Championship Game against the Bills, which I felt thwarted any attempt at a Dolphins comeback in that game (in all, the Dolphins handled the football in that game like it was greased).
    Unrelated note: I wonder if the Dolphins drafted Irving Spikes so they would have two players named "Irving" on the team.
    Looks like Willie Davis (who was great for me in "Tecmo Super Bowl II: Special Edition") and Gene Atkins were re-enacting that early-season fight between Andre Rison & Deion Sanders.
    Montana raises his arms & Marino points; good times.

      Still threw for over 300 yards and completed 70% of his passes, and this back in 1994..... In today's game, that'd be like throwing for 400 yards and completing 80% of your passes. The man was and is a LEGEND

    Even though Tom Brady has 6 super bowls, I am hesitant to call him the GOAT when he always had an offensive line and more rules which favored the offense. Joe Montana was much tougher than Brady and if you need an example of that go back and watch Super Bowl 23.

    • @hall3a
      @hall3a 3 роки тому +2

      tougher? are you nuts. do you know how many games joe missed? how many individual drives in games joe had to sit out for and have the backup go in? Brady plays in an easier era but Brady has done NOTHING to deem joe tougher than him. Tom has been as tough as any QB could be in this era. Never misses a snap while QB's all over the league are constantly getting banged up

      @@donaldbrady3850 that’s true but at the same time Brady has played through numerous Injuries including playing most of it not all of the 2010 season with a stress fracture (that they have said may have been bothering him since 2008 mind you) in his foot and still being the unanimous MVP that year, playing in the AFC Championship game against the Jags despite bending his thumb back far enough that it ripped through the skin on his palm & Playing through a separated shoulder from the middle to the end of the 2002 season before injuring it further in week 17 against Miami.

      Montana definitely tougher cause he had back surgery in 86, came back to play that same season, got blown up by Jim Burt of the Giants in the playoffs and then was arguably the best quarterback in football the next four seasons until the Leonard Marshall hit.

    Man, what a fantastic football game! I wonder why it never gets talked about much at all. I guess it just didn't have a memorable/close finish, but it was a great Montana vs Marino duel. I often forget this was Montana's last game - for some reason in my head I get the years confused and think Montana's last game was the Chiefs' playoff loss to Buffalo.
