Big love to you too my brother straight up . It’s our thing … it’s an African phenomenon regardless of Nigeria as the front runners . Ghana is up there too bro . One love
Lovely reaction ladies. The languages used are English, Nigerian Pidgin English and Yoruba. Buga literally means ‘raise your shoulder in confidence/pride’. The song is generally reminding people to hustle and make sure they remember to collect their money (get paid). And when you get paid remember to jaiye jaiye(enjoy/party) with your shoulders up(Buga).
I am an Indian and I must say African music is the best in the world I could be in any mood once the beat is on I am in a trance… one day I will settle there God willing .
The song sang in kizz daniels language and the language is called YORUBA. It's the language of 47 million people. The language is spoken outside Nigeria in modified versions in the following countries - Brazil, Cuba, Ghana, Benin, Togo and in some Pacific Islands. The YORUBA language originated from the south-west of Nigeria. And, that's a little bit of history for you!!. Have a wonderful day always.
Buga is slang that means "Brag" or "Flaunt" or "Stand out" or "Be proud". The song encourages one to wake up, be serious with their source of livelihood and go make their money! Don't worry about "mad people" who would unnecessarily hate you for nothing. Be serious, make your money and "brag on" or be proud of yourself!
Basically, the song is advising you to take care of yourself after all the stress and hard work in everyday life... You don work (You've worked hard), you don try (you've tried), you suppose to dey je'aye (you're meant to enjoy life now). So let me see you go low (dance) and BUGA (flex, show off)

Well done sister. Like all Nigerians you are a proud Nigerian celebrating our cultures on a global scale anywhere in the world as an African movement because we are proud to be Africans. You showed the Arabs how it’s done on Africa. Well done to you. 🇳🇬✊🏽
Indians are used to carnival videos already but this sure is a blast for Africa. Nice detailed reaction. Appreciate the hard work girls ❤️ Nigeria has the Calabar carnival by the way
I liked what you did and your interpretation was valid. Buga means "flaunt" "be proud" "show them" "raise your shoulders" , this is one of the music that had the craziest acceptance immediately it was released even before the video was out and I think he did justice to it in the video by showing you a bit of what Nigeria is about . Lovely song
Fun fact... The carnival practiced in Brazil has it historical tracing back to western Africa. Most of the Brazilian cultural practices have huge similarities to the yorubas in Western Africa. The reason for this is because of the slave trade practices that too place hundreds of years ago. So it's safe to say that Brazilian canival has its origin traced back to Africa.
exactly, the carnival was celebrated by the Yorubas enslaved in Bahia Brazil and it spread all over to Rio which became todays Famous carnival, if you watch the Brazillain carnival you will see references to Yoruba goddesses like Yemoja , osun and Oya, Nigerian/Yoruba culture is heavy among Cuban, Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago , with some other caribean countries
Well done ladies this was really lovely ❤️😁 The language is yoruba and Buga means flex/enjoy… but before you can flex, you need to wake up, work hard, go low (keep a low profile when working hard) so you can Buga (flex, enjoy your money when you get the money!😁). Nigerians are known for colorful parties and carnivals and its always great fun! 💯✨
LOL flexing and going low profile shouldn't be in the same sentence, the Go low part just means dance to the ground, bend your knees and go low and that's why he said ''let me see you go low low low'', get it?
Nice work ladies... Buga means "Be proud of you" or "Get your Self esteem on". The song is in pidgin English and Yoruba dialect and it's about working hard, getting paid and remember to give you a treat or walk shoulders high for your achievement

Hi everyone! Thanks for so many views. Unfortunately I have to cut down the music video due to copyright issues but you can still enjoy our discussion here :)
The lead singer is a Yoruba so the music language is a mixture of Yoruba language and pidgin/broken/patua English as it is generally spoken among different ethnic groups in Nigeria. The song singer simply encouraging people to work ensure they get their money/paid and enjoy the money by raising their shoulders high (Buga) and simply feel proud of themselves ❤❤
Bugga means be proud, take pride in your achievement. Usually symbolized by clinching your fists and raising your shoulders like you are about to lift a heavy weight. It is a slang that originated from the Yoruba language and is mostly used in Yoruba-speaking regions of Nigeria like Lagos.

It's called 'calabar carnival' it takes place in December. Calabar is in the south eastern part of Nigeria. A very lovely place with beautiful vegetation and mountains.
Hi ladies. I am Nigerian. Stumbled on your channel first time ever. "BUGA" is a Yoruba theme or word describing pride or essentially telling folks who have looked down at you in the past that you are now proudly what you have hoped to be in life. I think it is the reason why "collect your money" begins the song. Besides Yoruba, pidgin English is also used. The singer follows the Fela Anikulapo Kuti pidgin English Afrobeat themed song. BUGA has today become the leading song in Nigeria and Africa, and we are sure glad that Asians are appreciating it too.
Buga is not a Yoruba language, you people should take Nigeria beyond tribal sentiments. Why are not telling the World that Yoruba people brought Buhari to power because they hated Goodluck Jonathan and now you people want to punish us with Tinubu, a dying man wants to become our President again. Please tell them that the music was made by Kizz Daniel and Tekno
It's a pidgin English and yoroba twist, yes we have carnivals, they are our symbol of unity. Buga means to show off, express your self, as one who has arrived. Lollll
Beautiful song with great lyrics.🙌The song was originally released a few months ago with a video. This is what I heard, and can confirm that I know that some of it is true. When the song became a hit worldwide, a new video was produced (fact). If you look at this new colourful carnival style video it has flags from many nationals. I have been made to believe (rightly or not) that it is geared towards the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The intention could be that the song is picked as one of the anthems for this World Cup. It is the only explanation that makes sense to me, as people in a carnival are already up (not sleeping), proud and flaunting (Buga) their heritage and culture 😎. I am a huge fan of the song - Buga all the way to Qatar 💯
We have Fanty carnival in Lagos during every Festive periods just for one day. It originated from Africans that came back to Nigeria from Brazil. Secondly, we have Calabar Carnival which is one month long in December every year. There are also other local ones that are not as popular as the Fanty and Calabar carnival.

Yes Nigeria has these festivals often yearly, especially in Ibo land, Cross Rivers and Calabar own the costume as well as the festivals. Buga is sang in Yoruba language. sang. For me, Buga is be proud of how well and far you have come
Yes we do have carnivals in Nigeria. In states like Rivers and Calabar - very colorful. Buga for me means taking pride in what you do - raise your shoulders to it. Great review
The Buga song is a blend of English, pidgin and Yoruba language. Most Nigeria songs takes this pattern, blend of English/pidgin/Yoruba or Igbo or Hausa depending on ethnicity of the artist so most good songs gain acceptance because of the blend
Buga simply means show off (you show off by raising your shoulders). About the carnival, there are different carnivals associated with each region in Nigeria. The one in BUGA video is popular in South West (Lagos State) & South South (Cross River State) regions of Nigeria. Although, it was borrowed from South & North America countries like Brazil, Cuba etc. Also some European countries like Portugal etc For more than two decades, Cross River state government has been investing so much into the carnival as a means of tourists attraction to their state. The BUGA lyrics and choruses are meant to couraged guys to sit up, go out and struggle to make money. Thereafter come to show off by raising your shoulders for recognition on accomplishments. Some of the languages used in the muscial video lyrics & choruses are Yoruba (From SW in Nigeria), Queen's English, Pigin English and Street slangs.
There is carnival in Nigeria , it is set out in the city of Calabar in the south south of the country. It is set up to see out the year through Christmas time! Our various ethnicities in Nigeria attend, and at different times we have had “guest” countries from around the African continent and even worldwide appear at the Calabar carnival ! That has included Brazil, Trinidad, and I believe some countries of the Indian subcontinent! Recent Covid pandemic and the distraction of the state government has put a stall to it, but hopefully it would be back in the foreseeable future!
Buga is more of a Yoruba slang that means show off. So, what the song is all about is that you should work hard, make money, then you can relax, give enjoy life and BUGA-SHOW OFF
Buga is a street slang for 'show off" which is achieved by lifting your shoulders and tipping on your toes up at d same time. So buga literally means show-off, show them, show up. This u do when u feel accomplished. The language of d song is pidgin English a west African mode of communication similar to Jamaican patois.
Yeah we do have lot of carnivals during the month December in most cities in Southern Nigeria. The popular one is the Calabar Carnival in Cross River State.
Oh YES! There is Carnival in Nigeria. Usually done during festive period (December, January & Easter) The song was sang in English and Yoruba language. Buga = Outshine/Confidence over anything 👍🕺
