History timeline is important in this project. Fire in SF and rebuilding housing / business, required local manpower and tradesmen who had to travel AROUND the bay without vehicles, and no where to reside IN the city. Steel fabricated into movable components on the EAST coast of US. Shipped to West coast and stored. Used only recently completed Panama canal to do so. As bridge was being constructed, Henry Ford is paying $5 a day also, and automobiles are only beginning to become popular. Check out docs on gift from France project, cast, crated, shipped to USA, and assembled in NY harbor. Also a target risk by weather and terrorist attack. Lady Liberty.
If the bridge ever will collapses, it’s the woman’s fault, they replaced man who just build and managed the bridge and 2 woman now managed this construction, who have no part in this construction not even had given any architectural input to build this monumental bridge.
It really is sad, they don't even prioritize maintaining landmarks like the Golden gate anymore but they are more than happy to "redirect the 10 million dollars it makes a years to more important projects" aka there pockets.
I watched another doc on the construction, recently, that showed main (Arch) wires being run. Six strands at a time, combined to form a 1 meter Cable. Which was then wrapped by machine by wire. That's a bit of steel wire. Strength and flexibility concepts used in Radial tires.
I think he meant 38,000 km. that is enough to circle it three times over. I watched the documentary on TV before with close captioning, and that said 38,000 km.

Hello. Do not think so today

Excellent observation. A quality and well constructed comment. I hope you work hard and get your GED.

Is this apart of a series?
All of this in the name of commerce, i don't want anything from anyone
It's too bad they viewed the San Fransisco Bay as a problem and not one of the most valuable resources on earth.
Their are only two comments that's depressing
😅😅😅😅
29:34. Riddle me this, How can you circle the earth 3 times at the equator with 28,000 km of wire?
Dirk Digglerguy According to an older documentary I watched, they said it was 80,000 miles of wire, which sounds more reasonable.
