Summer of 1975/76 I was an OG valley girl. I smoked my 1st joint with a boy from across the street. Mark was cute, long brown hair and a great guitar player. We didn't hang out much, I was more friends with his younger brother. on another hot sunny day we were sitting on his wall, he grabbed his guitar and played/sang me this song as I danced around singing the parts I knew, just being me and Mark just being Mark. After he finished he smiled and said I'm going to miss you....I'm leaving for college soon. I was sad but happy for him. We hugged said goodbye and I never saw him again. It was just a frozen moment in time that was pure and genuine and I will never forget that song, the words he sang for me.
It’s funny how some moments seem frozen in time, like this one is for you. I wonder if it’s because we spend so much time thinking about the present or the future, or what others are thinking about us. To have a moment when we can simply be in the present and enjoy life is too rare in our culture, and something all the money in the world can’t buy. And to have the cute boy from across the street play his guitar and sing a great song to you! Then disappear from your life, never to grow old or fat or bald in your mind. Thanks for sharing this special memory. Your description was very well written.
@@terri2494 I have great memories. Thank you for the compliment. I hope to someday write a book, maybe of short stories of my many adventures. Who doesn't like Cat Stevens music. I am 61 & I still listen to his music. We grew up in a time when this music was so great. I miss this kind of music.
I came from a musical family and I remember when I was a little girl in the 80's, my grandfather, uncles, cousins bring out the guitars, banjos, fiddles and playing this song and my aunts would sing and I would join in. Man I love and miss that
I suppose it’s not our right... but, I’d love to know what he went through. No one can, of course... but his music, his purity, his sincerity and innocence was so beautiful.
My mom LOVED Cat Stevens!! And I have too from a young age. I'm 50 , mom passed last October. I've been listening to Cat Stevens often . And the feelings and tears flood over me every time. God bless Cat Stevens and thank you for the feelings and memory's you've captured in time ( for me) with your music

Turn around and she’s three Turn around and she’s four Turn around and she’s a young woman Walking out of the door… I keep my best memories in a box in my heart. I open it up every so often and take out the pictures, I take out the crayon drawings and the special greeting cards, the poems and the notes. We do not know where the road takes us. I also read about his early life as a pop star. But look at him now. Some of us are joined together. For we take many roads. On the road to find to find our place but we are all connected in some way. At the moment I cry for humanity. All the people that have died. We are all human beings. Our world is in chaos. Believe. Reminiscing.... One of my moms favorite artists/ favorite songs.... she was a beautiful smart woman, got sucked up into the 60's 70's thing... died too young but now having an appreciation for this artist who she loved.....speaks to my heart and soul! Love you and forgive you mom! Hopefully mine will one day too!
I own a very thick songbook from Cat Stevens, it is printed in the early 90s, and on the backcover it says, that he is one of the most influent songwriters and poets of all times. So true...
Yes, he was good looking. I'm saying this as a 100% hetero male. No sexual fantasies about him whatsoever, but damn he had good luck with his genes I'd say. As a teenager I looked similar to him as a teenager or young man, but then we started to diverge unfortunately. :D
He doesn't want her to leave but he lets her go lovingly and truly wishes her well. My abuser did not want me to go, made me feel unworthy. But when I listened to this song, his gentle voice and his respect for her choice, it helped me feel valued enough to go, to venture out and start a new life..I remember the exact moment; I felt like I suddenly had wings.
Now that I've lost everything to you You say you wanna start something new And it's breakin' my heart you're leavin' Baby, I'm grievin' But if you wanna leave, take good care I hope you have a lot of nice things to wear But then a lot of nice things turn bad out there [Chorus:] Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world It's hard to get by just upon a smile Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world I'll always remember you like a child, girl You know I've seen a lot of what the world can do And it's breakin' my heart in two Because I never wanna see you a sad girl Don't be a bad girl But if you wanna leave, take good care I hope you make a lot of nice friends out there But just remember there's a lot of bad and beware [Chorus] Baby, I love you But if you wanna leave, take good care I hope you make a lot of nice friends out there But just remember there's a lot of bad and beware
OMG, he showed a nipple! You haven't! Is ok, neither have I!.... lol. Brings us back to where we was before anything was said now doesn't it? Except now I and we and you have character! lol. Something that enhanced a view of things based on one simple thing. Yep, the nipple, well, and me speaking, lol. Generally speaking. :-) Insights, should be treasured, seldom are. But hay, its a wild bright world to shine in, why hold back. :-)
🥀Beautiful Song and video it's priceless to me my Mama dedicated this song to me. She truly loved Cat Stevens and I grew listening to him since the 70s 🥀☝️🥀🕊🥀
I discovered Cat when I was about 17 in the early 2000s.. I didn't know who he was and something told me to buy his greatest hits album. I saw it in the CD store and something pulled me to him. I had less than $100 dollars in my name and this intuition told me to buy it. I disliked it during the first listen, but became entranced ever since. I'm in my 30s now and Cat is one of my favorite artists of al time!
For those who were around when he first came on scene his music was so popular and like all things it became about religion. What's ridiculous is that people claim to know God but yet use God as a means to their ends...to persecute...to dishonor..to judge and finally to kill. If you knew one thing about this person he wasn't about anything but trying to find and serve his God...the God over us all. There are fans of this man who are grateful that he existed and left some of the best music.
I would like you to revisit these posts you made about him now in August 2021. Do you see yet or are you still blind?Just wondering. All the music I have listened and grown up on have hidden agendas and meanings now. That is if you truly have opened your eyes to see and understand. These people were worshipped and still are like God to some of you....They are not GOD believe me. Just for the record I am heartbroken to know now that they weren't using their music for the good of Humanity!Pretty much they used us to further the evil in our world because we liked them and now they laugh at us how dumb we were. But I don't don't think or expect you too understand what I am saying.Rewatch the video and all the pictures it tells on him severely.

My dad had a collection of CDs from this era. Cat Stevens was sometimes in the queue and I can remember listening to this one as a girl. Still brings back fond memories.

@@elizabethdorchester5307 Ha Ha gotta love Cat Stevens
I have three grown daughters. This song always brings a tear to my eyes thinking about them being little girls, growing up, and heading out on their own.
Turn around and she’s three
Turn around and she’s four
Turn around and she’s a young woman
Walking out of the door…
I keep my best memories in a box in my heart. I open it up every so often and take out the pictures, I take out the crayon drawings and the special greeting cards, the poems and the notes. I take them out and I feel the emotions of being there, of being loved and loving in return. The days when my children were little and life was still full of possibilities. Bittersweet…
Thinking back to the year 1971 music like this so soothing and warmth all around especially Cat Stevens songs
Unbelievablely great song. I'm only 42 but should have been born in the late 40's. ALL the music of the 50s 60s 70s were just FANTASTIC! Music gets me out of bed in the morning and gives me sweet dreams at night. Thanks to all the musicians
Cat Steven's was n is one of my favorite singer's. I loved Wild World back in the 1970's when this world was just so great n easy to deal with.

As a teenager in Britain I had this LP. I loved Sad Lisa. I have met this man in Toronto many years ago. All people we travel a road. I saw him as Yusuf
Islam. Allamduallah. We do not know where the road takes us. I also read about his early life as a pop star. But look at him now. Some of us are
joined together. For we take many roads. On the road to find to find our place but
we are all connected in some way. At the moment I cry for humanity. All the
people that have died. We are all human beings. Our world is in chaos.
Believe. M.T.
I love going to older songs and hearing about everyone's stories with them. It makes me love music so much more knowing the schange it can have on people. Especially shout out to the parents out there who share this eith your kids.

Un dei piu' bravi cantanti degli anni 70.....BRAVO.Amico di Mimi' e adorabile per le serate passate ad ascoltarVi
I own a very thick songbook from Cat Stevens, it is printed in the early 90s, and on the backcover it says, that he is one of the most influent songwriters and poets of all times.
So true...
I love Cat..always have..but the pic at 9 seconds..made me take ..paws..hehe... Damn he was good looking!!
He was good looking; now he's a Muslim. Don't care for that.
And why should anyone care that you don't care for that?
You seem to do for commenting :)
mike sadaw WHAT did you SAY? I am sick of these STRANGE comments that people make on here that don't seem to make ANY since at all.
Yes, he was good looking. I'm saying this as a 100% hetero male. No sexual fantasies about him whatsoever, but damn he had good luck with his genes I'd say. As a teenager I looked similar to him as a teenager or young man, but then we started to diverge unfortunately. :D

I saw Cat Stevens at the concert for the B'hais at the Waikiki Shell in the early 70s. Incredible experience!
Hi Bonnie 💐💐
Hermosa música, la escucho desde niño y me gustaba pero no la comprendía, ahora la comprendo y comparto los sentimientos. Soy viejo y soy feliz.
Good trip down memory lane Cat., love all your songs, great lyrics, thank you for all the pleasure you have given us.
Now that I've lost everything to you
You say you wanna start something new
And it's breakin' my heart you're leavin'
Baby, I'm grievin'
But if you wanna leave, take good care
I hope you have a lot of nice things to wear
But then a lot of nice things turn bad out there
[Chorus:]
Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
It's hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
I'll always remember you like a child, girl
You know I've seen a lot of what the world can do
And it's breakin' my heart in two
Because I never wanna see you a sad girl
Don't be a bad girl
But if you wanna leave, take good care
I hope you make a lot of nice friends out there
But just remember there's a lot of bad and beware
[Chorus]
Baby, I love you
But if you wanna leave, take good care
I hope you make a lot of nice friends out there
But just remember there's a lot of bad and beware
OMG, he showed a nipple! You haven't! Is ok, neither have I!.... lol. Brings us back to where we was before anything was said now doesn't it? Except now I and we and you have character! lol. Something that enhanced a view of things based on one simple thing. Yep, the nipple, well, and me speaking, lol. Generally speaking. :-) Insights, should be treasured, seldom are. But hay, its a wild bright world to shine in, why hold back. :-)

Hi Nancy💐💐
I discovered Cat when I was about 17 in the early 2000s.. I didn't know who he was and something told me to buy his greatest hits album. I saw it in the CD store and something pulled me to him. I had less than $100 dollars in my name and this intuition told me to buy it. I disliked it during the first listen, but became entranced ever since. I'm in my 30s now and Cat is one of my favorite artists of al time!
The fist day of art class this song was playing, ever since I have been doing art. :)
+Colter - your instructor had great taste in music. I love this song and Cat Stevens!
✌️💃💃💃💃💓
