Why in God’s name did they give Crush and Gulp voices!?!? I always thought they were badass in Spyro 2 because they were mindless monsters trying to kill you.
Because Crush & Gulp are capable of speech.
It kind of makes sense for Crush though, as he began studying under the teachings of the Professor
to pursue a higher learning in Spyro 2's epilogue.

Man, Ripto’s VO really put his all into this performance. Shame it was wasted on this game. Glad he got to go even further in the reignited trilogy.

All of the rigging in this game makes it look like everyone is melting, and Ripto isn't even half as intimidating as he was in Spyro 2.
At least they brought back the same voice actor to voice him. Noone else could be Ripto

I remember renting this from Blockbuster. The 1st cutscene was very choppy, and in the Dragonfly Dojo, after saving a dragon, his dialogue repeated throughout the level.

Also, super weird to actually see the cutscenes. My game must have been broken or something. After beating the first level or two, the portal to Ripto opened up without warning, so I jumped in and beat the game. Idk it was really strange. Though I hardly remember anything else

It's a common glitch. Sometimes the final boss portal just opens up lol. Other times if you head bash near the portal you can trigger the final boss.

This is what you get when you employ inexperienced people to create a new game studio, an impossible time window to develop a game and with a popular franchise no less.

Just when I thought Hunter was annoying enough in the second and third game, he's even more annoying in the way he moves and unconvincingly speaks in this version. Thanks for uploading anyhow. I do actually like this game. I know it had the potential to be so much better but I think people exaggerate about how bad it is way too much.

He's also fully playable in Spyro A Hero's Tail but I would like to see Flame and Ember get their own story modes for them in a remastered version of Spyro A Hero's Tail along with Bianca being playable too.
This is the first Spyro game I played and it's one of my favorites.
Blame Ricci Rukavina, the back-then lead producer of Universal Interactive Studios for rushing the game and forcing his own ideas into the game over the other designer’s ideas
Unfortunately, the Gamecube version of this was my first Spyro game. On the plus side, I finally got the Reignited Trilogy and it's awesome!
That first cutscene is just.... it's the cheesiest thing ever and even Jak and Daxter had more polished graphics and that came out a year before this game.
Caddy was right about Ripto's banana mouth. 🤣

Well, the worst Spyro game on a home console at least. However, Spyro Orange on the GBA may possibly be the worst the series has to offer. It had a great idea (crossover with Crash Bandicoot) but completely fucked it up with copy-pasted minigames and an absurdly short play time. You can at least call Enter the Dragonfly a game, even if it's a bad one. I wouldn't call Spyro Orange a game. I'd call it a butchering.
Ugh i know this game sucks but it will still hold a special place in my heart from playing it as a kid.
I remember getting some cutscene of a portal at random but it didnt work but it seemed like the cutscene cut off. Some other playthrough was final boss portal glitch at random for no reason, but it crashed the game and when I restarted it removed some dragonflies and I just never ended up getting the ending even when I collected enough lol. Its weird seeing these cutscenes, I never saw them besides the first one haha. What a broken masterpiece, hope it gets remastered one day, it feels like it has potential, even if the whole dragonfly thing doesnt make sense
I swear to God the weird way these characters move their mouth and the awkward animation leads me to believe that the people who did Foodfight! Made this crap.

Funnily, I'm from a region where PS2 was never legally sold, and as a kid I got bootleg translated version, but translators didn't give Sparx new voicelines. I always thought he is supposed to say gibberish until I saw this commented, tried to relistened and heard SOMETHING
They pitch shifted Hayden's voicework for some reason. Some videos on UA-cam have Bianca's dialogue edited lower and she sounds like she did in Year of the Dragon.

The Sorceress in Spyro 3 also fell in lava after the first battle with her and she just climbed out unscathed implying she has lava proof scales. Falling into pink acid killed her for good (probably flat out dissolved her to nothing) So its not hard to assume Ripto also has lava proof scales and he just climbed out of the lava only it was off screen and we didn't see it.

If you listen close enough at the end, Hunter says the exact line Sparx already did before Spyro winks at the camera. They couldn't even bother to write one of them just a few unique words of dialogue in a cutscene that's supposed to reward the player for accomplishing 100%.
I recently got around to playing this game myself and it's a real shame that the good ideas brought forth here are butchered by poor presentation, lack of polish, and too little content to really take advantage of 'em. Putting something like elemental breaths in Spyro's moveset is brilliant; ETD's soundtrack is also worthy of praise (the music for Honey Marsh almost made me tear up since it gives off a serene and almost nostalgic vibe). I don't even need to explain why that along with Thieves' Den and Jurassic Jungle are the best levels in the game (Luau Island ain't too bad either).

Am I the only one who noticed in the first cutscene that after Ripto shows up, we can't hear what their really saying until after they move their lips for a moment? Looks like the lip movement doesn't match the timing of when the voices are supposed to be played.

I had purchased this game years ago at a wall mart. I may finish it one day, but I have lost track of it. I eventually came to the conclusion that the public has largely lost interest in Spyro. Now insomniac is just known only for Ratchet and Clank, and their version of Spider man.

I'm a Spyro fan, but honestly this sucked hard. I'd rather they pushed it back until Christmas 2003 than rushed it out the door for Christmas 2002, it would've been amazing imo and been a lot more relaxed for everyone involved.
TheNathanNS this was a horrible game, and to think that the models were something to get use to. I wish they could have improved the series back then. A rebooted fourth installment is one way to start the series fresh.
chris robson as a remake they could do it better. Check 6 had fans employed. Unfortunately they were just new and thus they were cut too short for they were in over their heads.
Absolute dogshit game. Playing it from start to finish I could sense right away that the developers did not give a fuck. It’s shoddy, phoned in and lackluster programming at its worst. The story sucks ass as well. No imagination there either. But to hear all these years later that they purposely rushed development just to get it out early makes perfect sense to me. They were arrogant to assume that PS2 graphics alone (then still a new thing) would make us look past everything else. If they had taken their time it could have been as good as the previous three.
I found some enjoyment in this game, though I do admit it has nothing on the original trilogy. However, the overemphasis on Ripto's nostrils still annoys me to this day...
