sorry for my question, i'm not a expert of instruments but I'm curious: is clear to me the use of the wheel, but having a keyboard instead of play directly cords with fingers (like in a violin), what advantages gives? (I'm triyng to ubderstand why this instrument was made like that.)
Do not worry, I'm not an expert on instruments (and to translate into English) too ;-) The hurdy-gurdy is several centuries before the violin and was created as an evolution of organistrum, another larger instrument of the twelfth century, which used handles thrown by one person to play the notes while another twirled the wheel. At that time there were already other instruments as primitive as hurdy-gurdy but that were played such the violin (as the rabel, the fidel or the vielle) and of which the violin evolved much later. That is, the hurdy-gurdy is another concept different from the violin, such it occur with the piano and the harp, for example.
SettimaLegione it also allows for all 3 strings to be pressed simultaneously which is very difficult with fingers

it gives the sound to the instrument!!! the sound when you play another key is very characteristic of the hurdy gurdy. Also, every key affects to all the chanterelles strings, so if you are using two or more chanterelles at the same time, they will be always in harmony because all the strings are affected by the keyboard.
Hello I have a quick question, but foremost I just wanted to say that this was a beautiful piece and you did exceptionally well! So my question is that I saw that you answered a comment about the maker of the gurdy and you answered with Cesar Loureiro, but after a lot of research I still couldn't find any store page. I just was wondering how you found the seller and how you went about purchasing it. Thanks so much again for the beautiful music!
Hi and thanks for your comment! Regarding your question about Cesar Loureiro, as far as I know he has no store page. So you can try to contact him through his facebook profile: facebook.com/cesar.loureirosobral Greetings and good luck!
+droho Thank you! My hurdy-gurdy is tuned in G / C but I made a piece of wood to change the pitch of drone in C to D. In fact, if I remember correctly, in this song I recorded a track with the pitch of the drone forced to D
Iain Hunt I bought the hurdy gurdy in the city of Lugo (Galicia, Spain), in a store of musical instruments called Arcoiris. Although it is more usual to order it directly from the luthier, Cesar Loureiro in this case. Regards
This song was just BEGGING to be played on this instrument.
Right?!
Fantastic performance, thank you.
If you played this at my house...... I'd flee the country and never look back. I don't want to mess with the Lannisters.
(Doors to the banquet hall shut and lock)
so melancholic and beautiful
It's like the music was written to be played solo on this instrument specifically
Lord Tywin would be proud

SettimaLegione would you like to have to turn the wheel and press the strings? it makes it much more ergonomic and allows for easier play.
SettimaLegione it also allows for all 3 strings to be pressed simultaneously which is very difficult with fingers

@@CherniGrissom Thank you! Greatly appreciate the comment.
I get so emotional because of this.
Very nice piece! What's the tuning of your hurdy gurdy, is it G/C or D/G?

Killew ZBlouf This hurdy gurdy was made by Cesar Loureiro. He told me that it was one of the first that he made
Thanks :)

Wow, no esperaba una respuesta tan rápida, gracias por responder
There are a few notes missing in there, and a couple off-key notes, but overall, it's very well played. Kudos to you.
Hola! Podría saber cual es el tono de tus cuerdas? Gracias
Hola! Están afinadas en Sol (G)
@@endorfine_cherni Gracias!!
What string tuning are you using?
If I remember correctly, I think it was tuned to G
How much does a Hurdy Gurdy cost like this one?
