I wish M&N would go back to releasing authentics like they did in the past. But I’ll give them credit for atleast addressing the poor quality of the blue line. And like someone else said it’s really hard to find these jerseys and not everyone is a hardcore jersey collector.
Very glad you made this video. There was a brand new Mitchell & Ness Power Play 1980 New York Islanders jersey for sale. It was a reasonable price and I almost pulled the trigger but I checked around for reviews and found your video. It was your observation that the striping is not right. Sure enough when I looked at this jersey again the stripes were absurdly too high (like around the upper arms). Glad I held off and saved myself the disappointment and expense.
We’re Devils fans and the Prudential Center Devils den had the new brand of Retro M&N jerseys in stock. They had the 2000 Stanley Cup jerseys of Elias, Lemieux, and Holik with the Stanley Cup Patch and the Millenium 2000 patch. We were really delighted that the fonts were actually stitched twill and not the paper-ish crap that they had previously. The jersey looked really solid and thought M&N got their stuff right. Then I see this and can’t believe the numerous errors they did to other jerseys and made me look back at the Stanley Cup patch to make sure the colors were correct lol. My brother got the Elias one and was very happy with the quality and look. We even checked around to make sure no mishaps lol
When it comes to throwback jerseys can they just pull their heads out and let ccm do the vintage jerseys the CCM vintage line was absolutely incredible let them do the vintage throwbacks they at least know what they're doing
To be fair, they did make changes & a lot of companies wouldn’t have even done this. Don’t get me wrong, I have much respect for die hard hockey collectors like yourself, but most were not buying M&N products even when they made authentic versions as they weren’t CCM, Starter, Pro Player, etc. These are replica versions & can’t expect perfection, nor compare to vintage authentic versions of these jerseys as those are…authentic. Also, stock photos only can do/show so much. Not trying to sound like a M&N apologist, but I’ve bought the brand for over 20 years. I do collect NHL, though not only NHL, and do have an open mind about the complaints…but, do feel in hand reviews would be better. I feel those who hated the Blue Lines are going to hate these too. As for the price…some of these styles are really hard to find and when one does…the price, even for a replica, can be more than $225. Just my 2 cents anyhow 😉
Completely fair. I do agree that it's great to see they made the change, however I speculate it's more to do with poor sales numbers than them actually listening to fans. That could just be me being a pessimist though. I wouldn't really say I'm expecting perfection, but at the price point they should ensure the jersey they are making is... well not inaccurate. With the Robo Pen for example, would I like glacier twill? Yes definitely. But I get them not having it. What I can't understand is the striping being completely wrong. That's not something that makes the jersey more expensive or is something difficult to do. It's just poor planning and execution on something that can be double check in a matter of one google search. I know most people won't notice that, but it's just such a weird thing to get wrong. I'm sure I probably would like them more in person (the ones done correctly that is). That's usually the case, as you mentioned stock photos can only do so much. Me not liking the shape of them is probably just how they took the photos, I wouldn't be surprised if I thought it looked fine in person. I would love to do an in person review, but I can't justify spending $300 CAD just to do that. And yes, some of these jerseys you can't really find for $225. Others you definitely can though. Not trying to say you are wrong. Obviously you are entitled to your own opinion on them. I wish I liked them more than I do
They are banking on most buyers aren't educated on the fine details and accuracy of their flawed products. Or they know most consumers just won't care about the inaccuracies. Sad, but true.
Would love to get a Patrik Elias jersey, he's my favourite of all time but I won't pay that much for what the quality is. I have some NBA and MLB jerseys made by Mitchell and Ness, I think the quality is good on those. Maybe they don't understand what someone looks for when buying a hockey jersey, opposed to other sports.
It's unfortunate that they couldn't get it totally right. The quality seems reasonable (despite being expensive for what they are), but the weird size cuts and odd accuracy issues are very odd. I know in Edmonton, the remade Blue Line jerseys were extremely popular, they are almost all sold out now because the McFarlane and 96/97 Blue Yoke jersey in particular has become so expensive second hand. It's nice that fans have an option to wear that kind of retro gear, hockey fans really love that stuff. For the price though, these should be better than they are even after these improvements.
I rushed and bought a Rangers '94 Messier jersey the day the Blueline jerseys went on sale. I regret it. I never would have imagined how cheap the wordmark, customization, and patch would be. I definitely wish I held off. I was excited to hear Mitchell and Ness was revamping because I want a Lady Liberty jersey in the worst way. The Blueline Liberty jersey was the wrong shade of blue. These look better but the switching around the crest is wrong. I wanna see what these look like in person before I make another $200+ mistake.
I did the same. I bought my dad a Lemeiux jersey cause he didn’t have a jersey and I immediately regretted it and bought him a different jersey. They’re awful
Well I finally pulled the trigger on the Penguins 1992 SCF Lemieux jersey. I've wanted one for so long and I convinced myself even if I got a legit CCM jersey I would be too worried about getting it dirty/damaged thus ruining a $900-$2000 jersey. The Power Play one is at least solid quality with everything stitched. It survived the washer and didn't fall apart like a Breakaway or Blue Line one immediately would. It's not CCM, but it's good enough and I am happy with my purchase. I probably wouldn't spend that much on a similar one again but I made this a one-time exception, albeit I had free express shipping. Other offers like 25-30% off don't apply to these right now which sucks but what can you do. It's unfortunate M&N didn't fix the previous issues on other jerseys in the Blue Line series so I guess they just won't ever be perfect. Good video though.
The wildest part about all these mistakes is that these jerseys actually existed and were worn by players in games. The job is literally done for Mitchell & Ness and they still cant replicate it. You said it, M&N is just a lazy company with lazy workers. I don’t think I could ever purchase anything from them. They clearly don’t take their work seriously.
Comparing the Lemieux jersey to a pic I found on the unofficial jersey database, those stripes being missing is such a glaring omission. Guess I'm scouring eBay for one instead.
Honestly it’s good to have a Jersey cop of sorts go over some of the details for this. I’m still happy they improved and I want the screaming eagle road jersey they’re making or a rangers messier one (even though patch looked a bit off center). Point of this line is mainly for the casuals that want something vintage, since a lot of good hockey jersey style is with more vintage looks. With the amount of fakes floating around, I respect someone with one of these more than a fake. If you need twill info, USA tackle twill. But I think what really irks me the most is the lack of dazzle the capital building jersey has compared to my old koho The fit on these jerseys is fine tbh. If you wanna look at em yourself, def find some sports store. Here’s to hoping round three can be on par with ccm vintage
Agree that this line is more for the casuals that don't want to risk buying a fake/don't want to put in the time to look for a second hand one. It's still just disappointing to see they didn't really care to try though. Very simple fixes that they just didn't make. With the capitol building, ya the copper striping doesn't have that same shine as the older jerseys. That's like my favourite part of the one I have. The stores near me don't seem to get too many of these. I only saw one of the Blue Line jerseys when they released. I'm sure I could drive an extra 20 mins or so to find one but I don't know if I care that much, haha
I could be wrong but the Robo Penguin jerseys originally were made by Starter and the crest was not embroidered like this-- it was the typical (for the time) Starter "puffy" logo, that was pieced together in fabric embroidered together. I have a vintage Robo Penguin third jersey. That Whalers jersey is a crime against humanity. No self-respecting Hartford fan would NEVER buy that jersey. On the boxy shape of the jerseys-- until Reebok, jerseys were very box shaped. There was a lot of grumbling at the time when Reebok announced they were going to make the new jerseys more form fitting.
I have a Koho Robo Pen and the crest is similar, but ya the Starter ones would've been a bit different. I feel like these look boxier.... than those boxy jerseys though. Like I enjoy the box shaped jerseys, but these just look so weird to me. It's probably just the pictures, or me being weird.
I know I definitely read it somewhere, can't seem to find it now. Maybe they were just talking about the original factory, not too sure. But ya thinking about it, I've seem people get new stuff customized with glacier twill so it's obviously coming from somewhere. I'll have to ask around about it
When it comes to M&N,NBA or NFL I see astounding quality. These aren't for die hards to collect but moreso casual fans and with the eventual discounrs at 130-150,I think it's a better deal than buying old run jerseys or blanks that cost probably alot more versus this. Its good but not GREAT,which is fine.
So what this tells me is this is a 50 50 thing. They have fixed some stuff but still have a lot of issues. I'd be curious to see how they look IN HAND vs in pictures.
All I will say is these are STILL horrible. You could not give them to me for free. I only collect legitimate NHL jerseys. If this was 10 years ago, pre-Fanatics Mitchell & Ness, then you would have high-quality vintage jerseys made to NHL authentic standards. Today's? NOPE. Nowhere close. Disheartening.
Fanatics either doesn't know or doesn't care about how detail-oriented and/or anal-retentive collectors are, especially those who would be interested in acquiring a jersey of a player from 30, 40 or 50 years ago.
no, yall acting like adidas jerseys were so great, they werent, they looked like dresses, so bad...atleast the mitchell and ness ones are comfortable and dont look like dresses
I wish M&N would go back to releasing authentics like they did in the past. But I’ll give them credit for atleast addressing the poor quality of the blue line. And like someone else said it’s really hard to find these jerseys and not everyone is a hardcore jersey collector.

I saw the Pens powder blue WC and the colors are not right. Idk why they keep messing them up.
To be fair, they did make changes & a lot of companies wouldn’t have even done this. It's much better than the blue line. I wouldn't say they are worth $225. Maybe more in the $175 range
Would love to get a Patrik Elias jersey, he's my favourite of all time but I won't pay that much for what the quality is. I have some NBA and MLB jerseys made by Mitchell and Ness, I think the quality is good on those. Ive seen a few sharks jerseys walking around with that low crest at the SAP. Maybe not quite that extreme but pretty close
I rushed and bought a Rangers '94 Messier jersey the day the Blueline jerseys went on sale. I regret it. I never would have imagined how cheap the wordmark, customization, and patch would be. I would pay good money for a well manufactured retro hockey jersey I like.
I’m glad they fixed the colors on the Forsberg and Gretzky Liberty jersey but there are still obvious mistakes.
Comparing the Lemieux jersey to a pic I found on the unofficial jersey database, those stripes being missing is such a glaring omission. Guess I'm scouring eBay for one instead.
CCM jerseys in general were so much better. May score a solid one for not even $200 if you’re lucky
@@davidgaritta9195 I've got a lead on a '92 All Star jersey. Hoping the guy will take an offer and meet up at PPG. Would be an absolute score.
Honestly it’s good to have a Jersey cop of sorts go over some of the details for this. I’m still happy they improved and I want the screaming eagle road jersey they’re making or a rangers messier one (even though patch looked a bit off center).

5 dollars cheaper than a current new season with factory customisation, not a chance. These are trash.
I just got glacier twill from Customized Sports so for sure it exists 😅 I mean, it's silly to think it wouldn't anymore. M&N are just lazy
I know I definitely read it somewhere, can't seem to find it now. Maybe they were just talking about the original factory, not too sure. But ya thinking about it, I've seem people get new stuff customized with glacier twill so it's obviously coming from somewhere. I'll have to ask around about it
as long as people keep buying them they are gonna keep making them
I wouldn't pay $2.25 for one of these jerseys, let alone $225!!!
The blue on all the avs jerseys are too light lol
I just looked at the Roy one... ya I didn't even see that. They seemed to fix some of the colours being off but definitely not with that one.
When it comes to M&N,NBA or NFL I see astounding quality. I found the original jersey for a lot less than these imitations.
It will always suck, they will never make a Sens one, and for that reason to me it will be a failure of a line.
They don't have any Leafs either... but maybe that's for the best
So what this tells me is this is a 50 50 thing. They have fixed some stuff but still have a lot of issues. I'd be curious to see how they look IN HAND vs in pictures.
I do think they'll look better in person. These pictures are very unappealing IMO

I never got any of the Pre-Fanatics M&N jerseys but I know people tend to like them. Tis unfortunate to see what they are under Fanatics.
I bought a Gretzky power play kings and they are a million times better than the blue line
Admittedly, the adidas button was pretty fun to play with 🤣🤣
There is a rangers Gretzky power play jersey now too
Mitchell and Ness is a joke
💯
They are like a toddler who sees what their older sibling is doing in school, and then tries to do the same thing themselves.
You know who they should consult with after they manufacture and try to sell this trash? YOU! Their sales would go up 1000%.
Hell, even if they just looked at nhluniforms.com they could save themselves the embarrassment of making the simple mistakes
Actually they don’t “suck” at all. I have a Gretzky/Kings one and it’s fantastic. Excellent quality for a semi-authentic jersey!
I'm glad you are happy with yours
Fanatics either doesn't know or doesn't care about how detail-oriented and/or anal-retentive collectors are, especially those who would be interested in acquiring a jersey of a player from 30, 40 or 50 years ago.
Walmart fake jerseys look better than these
no, yall acting like adidas jerseys were so great, they werent, they looked like dresses, so bad...atleast the mitchell and ness ones are comfortable and dont look like dresses
suks
