  • Hi! My name is Doreen Benyamin and I am a rising third year student at Columbia Law School. In this video, I interview Bruce Sewell, who shares insights into a career path ranging from biglaw litigation partner to the former general counsel of two multinational technology companies - Intel and Apple. Recently retired, Bruce reflects back on the insights and lessons learned throughout his career.
    Topics covered include:
    ‣ what the day-to-day looks like when you are managing a 900-person legal team and a legal budget just shy of $1 billion,
    ‣ how he made his transition from biglaw to General Counsel, and
    ‣ how litigation versus corporate backgrounds compare in preparing for a General Counsel position.
If have any questions, you can reach Doreen at beforeyoutaketheLSAT@gmail.com.

Great way to put it. GCs should have the empathy on those who are required to take risks.

I love this interview!!! It definitely hit home to the particular area I'm interested in which is in house counsel in law and business. I'm curious to know is he in the field of antitrust, transactional or labor? He's a very interesting and well informed guest interviewer. Glad your back Doreen, I missed your UA-cam channel. Could you interview someone that is in house counsel in the sports and entertainment realm in the future?

Hi Jackson!! Thank you so much for your feedback and support! His bio mentions that he "supervised all legal matters for Apple, including corporate governance, intellectual property, litigation and securities compliance, as well as government affairs." I would love to interview someone that's an in house counsel in sports or entertainment - do you have someone in particular in mind? Feel free to message me if you prefer, but I definitely would love to interview someone in that practice area!

Lol I was wondering if this video would be about "how to get away with stuff when you have tons of money"
