It kinda surprises me with how violent the xray kills are that they haven't expanded the visuals more. You will shoot someone in the back of the head, see the entire front of the skull demolished the when the xray is over his head just has a tiny bullet hole
I do think it kinda stagnated a lot too. If I recall 5 even removed shrapnel deaths from shooting grenades (or at least they were broken when I played). I think there was a lot of opportunity to expand, like imagine lower caliber guns getting X-rays that show the bullets ricocheting off bones, having visual bone particles out of X-ray, more stuff for the body, the ability to show more organs per X-ray, and maybe even a rewind feature like the hunting games

Cheers Karak. Loved the first couple of these games but for me they never seem to change enough to warrant getting a newer version. While there are areas that have improved, it could easily be a remaster of the first game with new maps. I'm sure for some that will be enough and that's fine for them.
sniper elite games are always super fun, they have a system that works. The game doesn't really change too much from title to title, and that's fine. Sniper games are one of the few games I have no issues buying full price.
Small maps will kill this game. The biggest issue with the early games was the tight linear maps. The reason 3 kicked off so well was because it opened the game up, 4 changed things to be more Hitman like, and 5 refined it to beautifully. It seems like the new studio just walked 4 steps back with no steps forward.

I've been a huge fan of the Sniper Elite franchise going back to the first title that came out for PC back in 2005. I've finished every entry ever since then. At its core, it presents the same slow motion bullet/x-ray shot, which is satisfying. However, at the same time, I don't know if I want to spend $70 for an experience that's mostly the same as the prior 6 releases. On top of that, Sniper Elite Resistance has some issues as you've already mentioned. I'll most likely buy the game, but only after a decent price drop. There are other titles that I'm looking forward to playing way more than Sniper Elite Resistance such as, Kingdom Come Deliverance II, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and Doom the Dark Ages. With that aside, I really appreciate the honest, unbiased, and detailed review! Thanks! God bless and stay safe!
I love the X-Ray kill cam, but there's no need for the enemies to literally be treated like Mortal Kombat characters the way the X-ray shows their eyeballs and jaw shattering, and then you walk up to their corpse and it's completely whole and intact. Like, not even a bullet hole. That just sucks the joy out of things and it's been that way ever since the beginning. It's been TWENTY YEARS, Rebellion! There's no way this is an engine limitation, since Zombie Army does it just fine.
It's because zombie gore is different to human gore, the newest dead island ran into that issue with their new gore system, they would get an adult rating
I love the Sniper Elite games. I don't always have time to blow hours on a game so it's great to just jump into a game without having to recall a thousand different key combinations. However, I swear they haven't made any graphical changes for the last three games and that will have me waiting for a sale.

I may be in the minority, but I loved Sniper Elite 5. To me, the formula was near perfect - it is not complicated, (like some shooters have become) I love the X-ray shots, love setting traps, and enjoyed the different maps. In a lot of cases, people have tried to completely reinvent the wheel on certain games, and folks have not liked the results. I believe that if you have a winning formula, you don't completely change it. My opinion only; but different scenery (maps), adding the trip wires, improving movement, adding weapons or attachments (skins), letting you create your own player, (customization) or possibly (as someone suggested) making a modern installment are the only things that could make it even better. As it stands, Sniper Elite remains one of my favorite shooter games.
I love these. I don't even care that it's the same thing every time. Stealth kills and sniper cam never gets old. Always play with the hardest possible settings and replay levels until I can do them perfectly, like a puzzle. Glad it's on gamepass.
I think the Cold War would be a great idea. They could put Karl somewhere behind the Iron Curtain or in the middle of a proxy war in Latin America or Africa etc.
I can't wait for this game, per-loading it now. Game pass has been fire lately. I still believe game pass is a must for any gamer. There are many games I've played that I really enjoyed that I probably would have never purchased. I do buy the game eventually, usually after it's discounted.
Its got bugs in it, i was seen thru a wall, i think a bit of leg poked thru the wall and the gestapo dude saw me. I also got caught on an invisible wall at the bottom of a staircase and had to find a new route. I was a bit surprised tho that i wasn’t immediately hit with a patch to download, so thats a positive. Loving the game so far to the point i hurt myself by playing it too many hours. The addition of the new very easy level would have been great for me when i started out on these games years ago!! And it should bring in many more people with crap reflexes, like me :)
I love sniper elite, but I'm bored with world war 2. Changing the main character is a good enough reason for me to skip this one. I'm not even remotely interested. I really hope they do a S:E in a new era and war.
It’s always fun and enjoyable. I don’t expect it to reinvent the wheel. I just want to have a good time. This looks as fun and enjoyable as ever. I didn’t know I could play it co-op though. That might be even more fun.
I'd rather have real gore than the X-ray gore. The latter is cool but if the guards look like they have no real damage to them then they feel pointless
This game honestly sucks, I thought I would have fun but I’m not. feels clunky ganky and unpolished. There’s only 8 maps 2 of which are the same Dam map but 1 with flack guns. So the traversal makes no sense ya you can shimmy up a pipe 4 stories but can’t valt over a 2ft high rock wall 🤷♂️ go figure. If this came out in like 2015 it would have been ok but unpolished. it’s downright bad for today. Go buy ghost recon wild lands or breakpoint way better.
Having bought and played to death Sniper Elite 5, I was very reluctant to get my wallet out again for a very similar game, but luckily it's on Game Pass, so that's solved that for me. Looking forward to playing now.
Surprised they still went with France. The gameplay is fun as always but the maps/setting have a lot to do with how stale it is starting to feel. I think an Eastern Front or Pacific story would be great. North Africa was legendary in 3

With metal gear solid and splinter cell AWOL . This is finally shining . 5 was epic loved the big maps and open routine
But I feel going fowards now they need to change the formula of story . Date setting . Maybe 60/70s theme
I've played the Sniper Elite games for years. I just started playing the Sniper Ghost Warrior Contract games and like them just a little bit more.
I already have it downloaded from Xbox Game Pass. I loved Sniper Elite 5. And will 100% this one.
Would love to see a Sniper Elite in Vietnam
I almost purchased this last night until I saw your review. Having played the earlier titles, I too am very disappointed that after all these years we get a rubberstamp of the last two games. I will for sure wait until it goes on sale. Thank you for saving me some money. I'll replay SE5 until then.
Atleast its on gamepass
yes very worth checking out if someone can
@@ACGreviews That's where I'll be getting it!
@@ACGreviewshow short is it compared to the previous games?
Looks like sniper elite on a budget. Well, I'm on a budget, too, so I'll wait for a sale.
Why not Xbox Game Pass?
@@BillHicks420 probably plays on Playstation where they have to pay a premium for every new game.
It got old for me, I turned off xray cam in SE4
This is like turning off fatalities in Mortal Kombat 😭😭😭
@@WH250398 I know lol, but I just got tired of it. I still use kill cam, but I prefer it without xray. In past games SE games, I never turned it off.
I wish they would add exploding heads like sniper ghost warrior contracts
Looks a good game, maybe they will make a modern day game in future.
Funny what the French resistance looks like. Historical accuracy right there like the previous opus.
I love these. I don't even care that it's the same thing every time. Stealth kills and sniper cam never gets old. Always play with the hardest possible settings and replay levels until I can do them perfectly, like a puzzle. Glad it's on gamepass.
Dang I was looking forward to it
I think the Cold War would be a great idea. They could put Karl somewhere behind the Iron Curtain or in the middle of a proxy war in Latin America or Africa etc.
I wish they would do a battle stealth missions similar to the opening to Metal gear solid 4.
Help an offensive force progress across the map.
I can't wait for this game, per-loading it now. Game pass has been fire lately. I still believe game pass is a must for any gamer. There
are many games I've played that I really enjoyed that I probably would have never purchased. I do buy the game eventually, usually after it's discounted.
It's almost like some of these games could be an expansion. I would like to see different time periods
What upper do you use?
It has been hammered to death
Great review as always!
Thanks a bunch!
The real question is can we make 3000 meter long shots?
Well damn not sure that long. Sup Omar hope you are doing awesome
@ been busy with work lately but doing good
It’s always fun and enjoyable.
I think it's time to bring this series into the modern age of combat, or any other time period, anything but World War II!
I am not the traditional player. I can't stand the X-Ray feature. I honestly have it turned off and will do the same with Resistance.
Makes sense. Its not for everyone thats for sure
I love these games but the first thing I do is to turn off the kill cams. I just find them very annoying and disrupting to game flow and immersion.
Lol I nearly have a heart attack if I'm playing coop and sneaking around and suddenly it goes to my buddies kill cam.
Love these games! Really want them to go into the pacific or vietnam wars next
I’d love a Vietnam one where you play both sides
An enjoyable review man! Waiting for my pre-ordered copy, the day after my surgery on the 29th.
Hope you recover well and congrats on the new game!
@ACGreviews Thanks brother, having a big tumor & my Thyroid removed. The perfect game to play after such a procedure!
Hang on comrade !
North Africa was legendary in 3
They need to update the xray visuals, it’s been years. They should be more detailed and gory by now.
This series is amazing but for newbies you can honestly just by SE 3 for £1 or so and that'll keep you going for days.
I think it would be cool if the put discount for owners of Sniper Elite 5 + Season Pass owners...
Elon DLC when?
Pre-downloaded already!
I know! Can’t wait for tomorrow, which starts two days early access!! ❤🎉
@@kevinhewston5621 I have it on gamepass, so I guess I have a wait a couple of more days! Clean the area for me, will ya?
It's worse than 5, 4 was peek.
if they put effort in these games and maybe a new lead designer it could be so much more than a copy and paste shooter
They really need to change things up The series is getting stale.
