i think the reason they only nerf mage is because we have The Great Push next week and all teams will have some time to reconsider their team comp. Right now pretty much every single team is running Bear, Shadow Priest, Aug invoker, fire mage, and holy paly.
In my opinion frost and arcane didn't really deserve this nerf. But fire hell yea. especially reduced damage beyond 8 targets. But tbh they should look into aug 1st before doing mage nerfs. To me it seems like mages (especially fire ) benefit from aug more then other classes. Aug Fate mirror looks kinda busted and it should be looked into.

But also demo lock and unholy DK are definitely getting a whole bunch of damage that should be going to the evokers and fire is still quite far ahead of second place on the pure ST fights. So they probably aren't as much better than everything else as fire is.

Like you said, the aoe nerfs seem fine. But the fire st nerf is odd. The second you don’t have a PI or evoker buffing you in ST, fire is meh ST. Frost is just too many buttons now for now real gain. Going from MILF to now using CS, GS, and RoF is just a big shock
well from what i saw, without an evoker nor a priest all fire mage i saw where at 115k+ in ST in 23+ and doing 600k + on AOE situation... Seems fair to me

I play monk, i'll say that i'm pretty good in aoe situation but i can never go over 450k even with bl and after this little spike my dps will just go down... And i saw that mage (i know that he was good) but he was doing easily 100K dps over me on every pack, it was really frustrating to play with that. I had that kind of feelings with priest but not that much
Demonology and Unholy need to be brought down? Once you filter logs to exclude externals, there are 0 Warlocks and Unholy DKs being represented at the top. It's not the specs, it's the insane value they get from PI.
Lol known damage inflation due to Aug invoker. A lot of those top keys were the same teams practicing for tdp yup, better nerf us after 2 days. Just long enough for everyone to spend a ton of gold on some new crafted pieces and gems lol fml
Its quite sad that mages get nerfed as soon as its at the top, yet many specs over past 2 expansions have stayed at the top for at least 2-3 months without any changes.
Fire Mage has been a top M+ spec for all of the season, even before the rework. It's just that ranged dps are being somewhat suppressed by Shadow Priest being dominant. In fact, Fire Mage has had a larger contribution to high M+ scores this season than every other spec in the game. The rework buffs them to the point where it gets unhealthy for the diversity of M+ compositions. It launched way too hot, and this quick balance change is necessary.
@@Relativizor9.0 - 9.1.5 was last time we were top 3. Mage is only used effectively in very organised groups much like unholy DK's. Mages in its current form isnt stronger than destro season 4 SL, they didnt get nerfed for 6 weeks..... We get 8% nerf in 3 days lol.

Because as the other fellow mage said, Fire hasn’t been “too”, he surely was good but not at all top, specifically you can see that on the stats, it was just a minimum group of people that first of all were able to pull it off, and even a smaller amount that pulling it off were able to use it competitively. Yet Shadow Priest, Warlocks, and some other classes has actually been too tear for months without even getting punished.

Just remove fire as a spec cuz it's always bad 80 to 90 percent of every expansion. I'm sick of waiting for it to get better and after a rework it's still getting nerfs. I'm sick of it. When will it ever feel good to play fire? Jesus keep nerfing it to the ground might as well remove it entirely
What's wrong with you all... it is just disgustingly strong ! I have 2950 rio and for this 3 days I saw some disgusting 220k + overall in pugs, without pi or augment from fire. It's just broken

imho the mage nerfs are too much...thanks to PI and now even aug. evoker, balancing is almost impossible
