Dear, Matt, again, I have watched with much admiration of one of your fine story-telling-footage YT-video! Your way to put together your outings is unique and kind heart warming! Also the music you have added is in harmony with the epic nature surrounded your photographic voyages! Further more, especially for me personally, your videos gives me, kind of comforting feeling to be there at the moment in/with the nature, so to speak, it giving me a foretaste to my wish to one blessed day visit the area and wilderness you are visiting, with my camera equipment,. In addition your way to explain how to capture the wild life, is a great learning process for me, and your clear way to show how you practically are photographing, and what to consider and take in to account, is so much helpful to me with the advice how to set up the camera, example, for fast moving birds and animals! It is a sure pleasure to watch your videos! Please keep up your good work! Stay blessed and safe, both you and your whole family! Best regards from Sweden!💯👍👍👍🙏👌👌👌❣
Hi Deb! Welcome to my channel, I am so happy you found it! Thank you for saying hi and I look forward to sharing more videos with you. Have a great day!
Outstanding video.... Brought back memories of growing up in the early to mid 60's, spending summers on my parents boat, up in that area. Just as beautiful now as it was then ! Thanks for sharing !!!
Thank you Eric for your compliments and sharing your experience too. I’m so glad I could bring back good memories you had. Wow what a place to spend the summers! When was the last time you were back? I hope it never changes 🙂
@@MattShannonPhoto Matt, the last time I've been back was in 2019. Flew out of Campbell River over to Desolation Sound (about 100K south of Echo Bay) to spread my parents ashes. That's how much both they and I love the coast. Hasn't changed, and like you, I hope it never does !! Cheers, and keep your beautiful work coming.
Wow! Wow! Wow!……..what an awesome trip that must have been, memories for a lifetime. A captivating journey that you portrayed so brilliantly, i was glued to every second……..my god that was something special 👌
Spirit bear is on this list for me too! When was the last time you were in the Great Bear Rainforest? Thanks for watching and the kind compliments, cheers
Unfortunately I only been there ones, in 2019. However I was lucky enough to find a spirit bear, outside of the town, Terence. It was that trip that got my started on wildlife photography
Thank you Dave! Yeah, I am stoked! When you put all of the wildlife and moments we had together in a 20 min video, it is a LOT! Looking forward to our trip
@Matt Shannon We have no predators, really, except stoats and possums and rats after native bird life. 😏 no bears, large cats, foxes. Beautiful spots for a landscape photographer
Hello Arron here I'm a big fan and love wildlife photography I just wish I could take pictures like your pictures with me on disability I can only afford a Kodak easy share c763 and it is hard to take good pictures
Hi Arron! Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your love for wildlife photography with me. I'm so glad to hear that my pictures have inspired you, and I want you to know that you don't need expensive equipment to take great photos. Photography is an expensive hobby that is for sure. I've never used the Kodak c763, but the specs are similar to other cameras I had while traveling in South America and East Asia. It's all about finding the right angle, lighting, and timing. With some practice and patience, you can capture some amazing shots with your Kodak easy share c763. Keep exploring your passion and never give up on your dreams. Remember, the most important thing is to enjoy the process and have fun with your photography. Best of luck to you and thank you again for sharing!
That was amazing. I can't believe how much you saw during your time out there. Were there a lot of salmon or was the numbers low still? Also, did you bring only telelphoto gear or some landscape lenses and filters?
Thank you so much for watching and your feedback! Our guides were saying that this was the first time in 4 years where we were able to see ok salmon numbers back at the waterfall where we went during this video. No where NEAR the numbers it should be! The fish farms are moving out of this region and a positive bounce back has already been noticed. I do bring a few other lenses for wider angle landscape shots. Most of the time I was shooting telephoto landscapes when wildlife wasn't around. Thank you for your questions.
Hey Matt, this is really an outstanding video with great story telling! Love your content 🥰. Keep-it up. I wonder when numbers of your subscribers will skyrocket...just a question of time in my view!
Thank you for the encouragement!! I just returned home from a photography trip with more content to share 🙌. Figures crossed it is what the people want 😄. I’m having fun non-the-less but if you have any pointers or tips for future videos or general feedback, I am all ears! Thank you again!
Well that’s amazing. I’m an American and actually moving to BC ( literally start my drive in 48 hrs). Mainland but close enough. Would love to do a workshop. Will send you an email.
Glad you liked the video and soon you will be in beautiful BC! I will follow up on your email soon with more info about the workshop. Link to the workshop below if you want to get a jump on the details: www.klahooseresort.com/grizzly-bear-photography-workshop Chat soon!
I have a monopod but it was too tricky to use in the bigger boat and when we are on land, a tripod was best. One year we went out in a flat bottom boat up the river and photograph from there. Boat was too small for tripods but a monopod would have been nice to give the arms a rest.
The boat has a lot of flat surfaces to place your lens and get fairly low to the water. I’d grab my sweater and use it as a lens support base. Worked well!
I would if it was really bright out for whales.....bears on the other hand I'm not so sure. You loose light with a polarizer and since black bears are so dark, I often want as much light as possible. Great question and something I should try more often during my time out on the boat. Thank you for asking!
I understand where you're coming from. The price reflects the comprehensive experience provided, including high-quality lodging, a professional chef to cater meals, expert wilderness guides for safety and knowledge, boat transportation, fuel, insurance, and various other factors. It's a specialized workshop aimed to give participants a unique and immersive experience with grizzly bears and whales in their natural habitat. While it might seem high at first glance, it's crucial to factor in the extensive inclusions and the value of such a rare and curated experience. I always strive for the best for my participants, and this workshop is no exception. Thank you for your understanding and feedback!
The Great Bear Rainforest is an unforgettable place! Thank you again for watching.
I wish I was there and able to capture the beauty of nature around.

Wow 😱 just WOW ! Brilliant thank you so much for producing these fabulous videos 🙏
"double fog-bow all the way!" love it. Very nice vid 😊
😄 yeah, it reminded me of the double rainbow video on UA-cam. One of the first videos to go viral. Thanks for watching
So EPIC! Love the Great Bear Rainforest!
Very fitting name for the coastal rainforest. The trees, wildlife, rain, it is all epic!
Was für ein schönes, interessantes Video 🙋✅
FANTSTIC VID, one of the best I've ever watched here on the Tube!
Best comment to receive! HUGE thank you! If I could frame a comment, it would be this one 😃

Beautiful wildlife and views on the west coast! BC is awesome.
BC is sweet! Blessed to call this home
Well done! That food did look amazing. Did it rain much?
The chef was unreal! Every year has been amazing! It did rain some, mostly overnight. The salmon needed the rain so we were happy to receive it 🙂
Incredible, Thanks for taking us with you 😍

@@MattShannonPhoto Great man 🤝
Stunning I'm so jealous. 😍
New Zealand is lacking the bears 😂
Does New Zealand have any bears? Seems like a great place to wander around as a bear 😃.
If you have the chance of visiting here and want to see bears, early Autumn is the best time during the salmon run (September). Plenty of bears!

You caught it! Good eye.
Nice video! One thing though, Stellar Sea Lions don’t bark. It’s California Sea Lions that bark.
Great video! What was the name of the resort you stayed at? Looks like an awesome place.
Lodge is called Echo Bay. It is lovely! Remote which is my kind of place to stay.
I see you used the d850. I have th d500. Do you think it can still produce just like your photos? (Love yours)
What AF did you use for the flying Eagle (in video mode) ?
What an awesome experience! Bears act like giant dogs. Use monopods much?
I have a monopod but it was too tricky to use in the bigger boat and when we are on land, a tripod was best. One year we went out in a flat bottom boat up the river and photograph from there. Boat was too small for tripods but a monopod would have been nice to give the arms a rest.

Would you use a polarizing filter for shooting bears or whales?
I would if it was really bright out for whales.....bears on the other hand I'm not so sure. You loose light with a polarizer and since black bears are so dark, I often want as much light as possible. Great question and something I should try more often during my time out on the boat. Thank you for asking!
What camera did you use for filming yourself vlog style?
I mostly use the Sony A7c camera. Every once in a while I take a few clips with my IPhone 12, and a GoPro 7
to many Nikon850 notes. . . otherwize very enjoyable.
Noted, thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching! Cheers
It looks like the weather was mostly crappy with bad light, but nice subjects
Yup, Great Bear Rain Forest doesn't hold back. Pays to have good rain gear and warm layers!
