    I used to have really bad breath, but it turned out it was because I had an intolerance to dairy. Once I stopped having milk and cheese, my bad breath went away. Also, I know it sounds gross, but get a tongue scraper. It's super cheap and you just scrape your tongue in the morning to get all the bacteria off, and it helps a lot!

    I just want to say that I love your laugh Bonnie. I was having a rough morning with my kids going nuts. I sat down to get ready for the day and I usually watch your vlogs then. And once I heard your laugh I just felt better, even happier. Crazy I know but it helped change my mood. So me and my kids thank you! 😂

    My husband had similar issues and the doctor recommended we try nasal spray before surgery. He put him on Flonase, which I think is over the counter now, just one spray each nostril every morning. It has helped a ton! No more tonsil stones! Good luck! Maybe try that while you wait!

      I heard that some people wake up during surgery and are aware and can feel the pain but the doctors can’t tell if you’re awake so you have to feel every little thing they do to you

    • @ericabrooks1004
      @ericabrooks1004 6 років тому +1

      Stella Ni I’m an oral surgery assistant, and people do wake up during surgery! But we are definitely well aware, and the patients don’t remember! When their heart rate starts to go up we know they’re about to wake up. Sometimes they even look right at me while we’re performing the surgery, but we give midazolam (versed) at the beginning to patients and it tends to give you short term amnesia. So even if they’re awake and trying to talk, they’ll have no recollection. 😂

    Joel before you do a tonsillectomy you beter check if there is maybe an other reason for this bad breath. Maybe there is something with your stomach valve. There could be something wrong with your sinuses causing this breath. There is a reason that we have tonsils, they are there for protection and after surgery there is no garantie that the problem will be gone.

      Inês Sousa - You hit the nail on the head, I had my tonsils out at 5 years old, but still have breath issues. Typically when my allergies are acting up my breath is bad. It can also be a sign of digestive issues- I highly doubt if the Dr will give you a high probability that having your tonsils out will correct the issue-
      Hope something works for you!

    I just had my tonsils out in January. I had strep 7 times between August 2017-December 2017. So mine was covered by insurance. The recover kicked my butt. I’ve had three abdominal surgeries and my tonsillectomy recovery was harder than those. It’s just a totally different kind of pain.

    I tried everything to get rid of my bad breath with Tonsil Stones... nothing worked but get my tonsils out. Breath is 1,000,000 times better, I get Colds & Sore Throats much less, but my Allergies have gotten worse. I got them out at 20 y/o and it only took me a week to heal. My greatest advice is to do everything they say so you heal super quick too, no talking, and lots of resting! And scrambled eggs will be your best friend.

    Joel I got my tonsils out at 19 and it was a VERY painful surgery...the older you get the harder it is. I was on morphine for 2 weeks. BUT, it was SO worth it. Make sure you have ample time to be off work/lay low because it takes a lot out of you. But I guarantee you will be happy you did it!

      Yes!! Hahahah. Kind of my thought too. If he is taking it off he clearly doesnt like them. BUT being a momma myself who just potty trained (my 2.5 year old daughter) and she is fully day time body trained in 3 days. But, I am honestly so sad. Although diapers are expensive and annoying, I absolutely loved changing my baby's diaper. Now that she is potty trained, she really isn't my baby anymore :( maybe that's why Bonnie has been holding back. Linc is their last baby and I would have such a hard time with that.

    • @catlockhart6965
      @catlockhart6965 6 років тому

      Yes he is smart but they need to stop with the laughing and making a joke out of it. It causes him to think it 's just funny so he continues to not do it cause he thinks it's a big joke and people will laugh at him which is what he wants. Bonnie is going to have to put some time and effort into this and I don't think she's ready to do that. She needs for him to go in when the big boys do and have him sit on a potty chair while they are in there. The last child is always the hardest one.

    Wow... it is so crazy the different costs of different surgeries in different states. My mom had a broken wrist repair a few months back (out patient, local anesthesia) and i had a hysterectomy last month (out patient, general) and both surgeries were close to $40,000 (before insurance) after surgeon's fees, pre-op testing and hospital fees. $3500 seems pretty good. I do echo the comments of others though, get a second opinion on the possible cause of the bad breath. If issues are gut related, the surgery will not help at all.

    I get tonsil stones because I suffered from chronic tonsillitis till I was 18 years old... my tonsils are so scarred and bumpy from it that they get stones now. The requirements to have them removed is similar in the U.K.! I got a really long and high dose of penicillin from my doctor and I’ve been tonsillitis free for the last two and half years thankfully! When I was in Greece a doctor told me that they can actually shrink tonsils with an ultrasound. Unfortunately they don’t do that in the U.K. !

  • @madisonmayer8915
    @madisonmayer8915 6 років тому

    Hey Joel I'm in the same boat with you, it doesn't have anything to do with oral hygiene. Bad breath/chronic is due to the over production/build up of enzymes, mucus and food that hasn't got broken down properly etc.(I'm not a dentist) but I know a bit through research. I have tried oil pulling with coconut oil, it's basically using the oil as mouth wash however you keep it in you mouth for as long as you can spit, rinse and brush. This has shown a noticeable improvement for me maybe it will do the same for you. There is also products you can get that have zinc in them, apparently it's meant to help with breath, it comes in the form of gum and mouthwash. Anyway I hope this might help and it's always good to give it a shot if it doesn't work then go with the surgery. Also is it possible that you have tonsil stones they to are common for those with bad breath they are usually lodged in the tonsils, these cause the sore throats usually. Again I'm not a dental or medical professional however I'm going through the same thing and maybe my research can help you as well. Love you guys 😁

    Tonsil stones are the worst!! I had them for a long time. I felt like I had styrofoam in my mouth. Getting them out is the biggest pain. They didn’t remove my tonsils for health reasons and age but they did dilate my throat. That helped a ton, thank goodness. Hated those things.

      Mrscrocks I didn’t even know much about it but they put me under and slightly widened the opening of my throat. It was a simple procedure. I had never even heard of it before. I’m probably not much help. I just remember that removing my tonsils was not an option because they said I would not heal easily with my age and other health issues. They removed a ton of tonsil stones and widened it and I haven’t had a lot of problems with the tonsil stones since. Occasionally I will get one. I’m so sorry I can’t explain it better.

    I love you guys to bits, but have you exhausted all options with your dentist Joel? The reason I’m asking is because a tonsillectomy, unless really medically necessary, can really take its toll on your body. We have tonsils for a reason & it protects us from so many infections & nasty bacteria. When we remove them we open ourselves up to being more susceptible to the nasties it’s protecting us from. They really do play such an important role, & over here in the U.K. unless you’re at deaths door with constant tonsillitis they will never, ever remove your tonsils.
    You can be the best person at oral hygiene & still suffer from bad breath, sometimes it’s something in our diet that needs to be tweaked, or it’s plaque build up. My dentist doesn’t recommend scrubbing tongues as it takes away all the healthy good bacteria, but instead recommends a really good clinical mouthwash.
    I’d check with your dentist first just to make sure nothing else can be done & that you’ve exhausted all options. There’s no harm in trying eh! It really is such a big, invasive operation as you know from when Bonnie had it & id hate for you to go through it when there may be an alternative root.
    Take care & all the best! Xx

      Laura Williams agree with the diet part. Since going mostly vegan last year I’ve noticed a big difference in my breathe and body odor. I didn’t know all that about the tonsils. Good to know.

      He did say he was having those nasty pockets things in his tonsils and that can be very bothersome and make you throw up a lot. I always had the same thing with the pocket( holes in my tonsils) filling up with stuff,sorry that's TMI. I never wanted to eat any more cause it was so gross. I totally understand what he is going through and also understand what you are saying about your tonsils being there to protect you. My tonsils got so big I had to take them out it was affecting my eating and I was getting sore throats all the time and I was in my 30s! I had gone through a really bad surgery before that so I knew the tonsillectomy would be nothing to come back from! I know you are probably right with everything and I heard all the same things you just said from all my doctors that you said but if he's suffering like I was, I would say he should go to have the surgery done. I exhausted all options, so I had to have the surgery done. ☺

    Living in a family of doctors, nurses, and anesthesiologists, I would recommend to ALWAYS talk to the anesthesiologist and the hospital directly and tell them you don’t have insurance. It’s kind of messed up but doctors, hospitals, etc will overcharge because they know insurance companies will pay it. If they know you’re paying out of pocket it’s common that they will lower the fees - just something to always consider!! 😊

      same here! Bad breath is mostly coming from you're stomach that is wat my dentist says the best way to go is to the doctor and let you're stomach checked out. Kiss from the Netherlands

    Hey Joel! If you snore at all you may have sleep apnea and the insurance will cover a tonsillectomy if you are diagnosed with it!! Swollen tonsils can result in sleep apnea because your throat gets blocked when you sleep!

    I can't imagine going through a painful surgery for bad breath :( I would just chew gum or use breath mints ....

      Gum does NOT work for chronic bad breath. Unless you have seriously suffered from this condition- a person simply doesn’t understand. 😊
