Loved your vid again. Your the best. Lynn Thompson should should send you some dividends on your love for Cold Steel … I’ve got the Spartan. You are correct Sir … it’s a bad ass well done. Thanks again.
22aday I appreciate your support (Gulf war vet) lost a friend to suicide after war. We fought the battle of medina ridge as Cavalry scouts. Love the knife reviews.
I’m an alcoholic started drinking when I fot discharged from the Navy in 2012. I find if much easier to quit now, I can actually go a week or two sober. Still fight with myself about it. Love the spartan awesome videos
Howdy Mr.Scab I'm sure glad our paths crossed bruv! #22ADAY and I promise I'll never quit quitting brother! Slick video Scab I wish you many blessings and hope your weekend is rad good as well! I thank you for sharing! Cheers, Jerbs
I totally love my spartan. I used and abused it so much over the years and it still works perfectly. I baton with it all the time. No Problem at all. Thats why I got 2 and plan on buying the serrated version too!
It seems like everyone has had better luck with their Spartan than I did. Mine wasn't AUS10, it was out of the steel everyone complained about when they switched to AUS10. I think it was carpenter steel if I'm remembering correctly. I broke a big chunk of the blade out carving on a piece of cedar. I pretty much considered it a pos after that. It's one of their best looking folders I think and it was working pretty good for hogging off wood till it broke. It's blade shape is far more effective and practical when it's a lot longer. It's a great design for choppers and swords when stretched out a bit. My favorite Cold Steel folder the Rajah II is a good example. It's been my EDC for many years now. The only time I don't carry it is in town since its over the legal length to carry. I live in the sticks and find myself constantly using it to cut limbs and wild roses which I literally hate. I found a lot of uses for it when logging and cutting firewood and it's great for maintaining trails too. I've had a few encounters in the woods I was glad I had it as well. Luckily I didn't have to use it but I have no doubt it would have been capable of eliminating the threat had it come to that. Great video. 😊
I feel like the Spartan is either one of Cold Steel's most or least appealing folders depending entirely on how big your hand is. My hand is just small enough to fit comfortably in the handle, so I love this one. Probably my favorite all around knife in the pocket whether its a work day or leisure day. I just can't think of a single task you can reasonably ask a pocket knife to do that this couldn't handle.
Nice Review! The Spartan is not one of my absolute favorite Cold Steel knifes, but I dig the blade shape. If only would make a "Spartan XL" with a 6 or 6.5 inch blade and longer handle, so that big guys can get a comfortable grip on the handle. I can't say anything bad about the AUS 10a blade, but have heard lots of people with bigger hands complaining about the small handle. Other people have found their grip and love the handle. Well, I am more fan of multiple gripping options, like other bigger Cold Steel knifes make possible. #22aday Stay safe everybody, and stay blessed. Greetings from Germany!
Great Review .....One of my favorite Cold Steel folders. I can see someone with XL+ large hands having problems if they don't "fit" in the handle. I say "in" because it has a pretty deep front index finger groove to the front and a large hook shape at the handles base. If you have med to large hands its AWSOME because it cradles your hand no chance of slipping up on the handle. My other gripe is that it sets low in the pocket...too low. The Rajah sets higher and its easier to grab, but the Spartan I find myself digging for the knife. Other than that is awesome for money. I actually plan on customizing this knife, replace the handle with G10 and I already polished the blade getting rid of the stone wash.
Handle mod like the late Charlie Mike "Fresno Felon" would work good for you. Going to try making micarta scales with little less pinky hook myself. Thank you for the message about veterans in your videos.
*I'm hell bent on getting a Rahja II, and then I saw this and thought maybe it would fit my EDC needs better.* *It's all going to come down to how that grip feels.* *I heard some big guys say it's perfect, and now I got you saying it's bugging, no one measured it, so I'm unsure.* *Also, it was my thinking that if you wanted to chop with it, one might hold the bottom end of the grip between your thumb and index. (doesn't look like your index would slip out)* *When it comes to making purchase choices between variable but similar tools, I always tell people; "why not get both"......I may have to follow my own advise here.* *Thanks for showing it. (2years ago)* 👍
I’ve been meaning to pick this one up for awhile now but other cold steel folders kept jumping in front of it lol...I’ll get around to it one day god willing 🤙🏼🤙🏼
am getting one of them big boys for self defense during my hiking trips or whatever... i am like 5'8 and weight around 116 pounds ...i hope it won't be too big for me to carry in pocket.
My wife is constantly frustrated by the front pockets on ladies pants. If you have some cargo shorts something like that I think you will be fine. It is a great night to carry on hikes because it can deploy quickly. Let me know how it goes that's some good info to pass on
If the handle was any smaller my hand wouldn't fit and I'd be right there with you on the handle. That being said it's my favorite CS folder. Heck,I manscape with my Spartan. 🤘⚔ You should snaggle tooth that 4 max.
I saw a guy slip off that cable once and poke himself in the hand 😬 We would frequently skin the insulation off big wire in the field. THHN insulation is some tuff stuff. I've skint it with a cold steel ti lite.
I really like the looks of the Spartan. I’ve been meaning to get mine out and carry it/use it more. I think I’ll do that this week! Can’t wait to watch the comparison with the Rajah 2 although we already know that outcome lol thanks for the video! Can’t believe I missed this one!
I got punched so hard in a fight years ago. Broke my nose in 3 places including my eye socket and I agree. It definitely shocks ya a bit. Your fine motor functions go out the window a second or two
Great review Scab....I love my Rajah 2 as well. I decided to skip the Spartan due to the handle looks uncomfortable...esp since I wear XL gloves. It might be a tight fit for me. I will stick with my Rajah! Keep up the awesome work bro 😊 🔪
The one thing I have noticed over and over with cold steel is that the handles are so far from neutral you have to be able to hold it before you buy it or you may just have a knife that simply won’t work for you. That blade is so beautiful though. Thanks for another great video, Scab. #22aday
I have seen a few that the handle has been Modified at the end by cutting and sanding it to take that hook end off , 😎⚔️ its a fellow on You Tube that make stock removal knives and some very good one too and he modified one very nicely. He made his blade into a Tanto.
My friend don’t like the handle on the spartan either cause his hand don’t fit. The knife is a slicer with that hollow grind. Thats why I love my Recon 1 with the hollow grind, unfortunately that model is discontinued. It now has a flat grind, still great but not as good slicer
It's a Ride or Dye type knife and it just need a little stropping now & then and it will go like the Energizer Bunny 🐇. Cold Steel's Andrew Demko did that rite.
Oh Scab, no, if someone is punching me in the face I'll not draw my blade (whatever it may be), I'll give my punch in return ... Maybe my elbow - as a "thank you for that" ... I'll draw my blade only in a "life and death" scenario, God forbids !
I knew with those mitts you wouldn't like that knife. I prefer the vaquero xl serrated for self-defense. I live up in Maryland for the time being and they are a communist gun state. Anyway the vaquero is the best design for everything from stabbing to chopping with the serrated blade it is like a chainsaw. Another thing that doesn't matter in Florida in Maryland in winter you might run into bad guys in thick jackets just some pointers
People with two x hands notice that 3 to 3.5 knives are ok but others with triple x or larger hands couldn't even considered the Spartan. Never thought cold steel knives were for little bitch hands or pre teen hands possibly. I totally agree with you that handle has to go but would be interesting to see how the sales are. #22aday
I haven't seen fort Scab lately, hopefully no meth-heads squatted on your base. The Rajah 2 would have to do a review 😂🤣😂🤣 #22aday enjoy your weekend my friend
You tested rajah 2, spartan, 4 max and espada xl. If You consider voyager tanto serrated would be nice, because its the strongest model of the voyagers. Let us see that bro. Btw - My espada xl G10 today almost took off my finger... Thumbs up from me and some of my knife brothers ;)

Hey brother I appreciate the honesty. It's still a daily battle for me but we keep on rolling
I wish I could find a reason to like this one. Well, there's always the Colossus! Haha
Gospel truth! A redesign on the handle and this one would be a keeper.. oh wait that's the RAJAH2!!

That's a good point. I love CS knives. But it's a good idea to get an idea of the feel because they are definitely not neutral
Good 👍video
Thank you my brother!
This obviously makes some of the best feather sticks and so does the K Bar Combat Kukri
I see that CS just came out with a serrated Spartan!
That's gotta be wicked brother
I like the bottom of the handle which looks like it was made for pommel striking.

4 certain Scrab. You hand is a little large for that knife as shown so your point is well understood 👍

I agree with everything you said about the Spartan. The handle ruins it. My buddy has one but he has little bitch hands (LOL) and loves it.
😂👍🏻
Would it be possible to grind off and remodel the handle?
