Yes, the products I’ve tested have been very reliable. I will be publishing a video on a RGB nightlight that has both motion and luminance sensors later this month.
Can the Amazon echo act as a hub? I am trying to add it to the Smart Things app but it says I need a hub. Apparently the Phillips Hue doesn't work with this plug.
It sounds like you are using a SmartThings version 2 hub. I use the fourth-gen Echo smart speaker as a Thread Border Router for my SmartThings V2 hub. The SmartThings V2 and V3 and the Aeotec/SmartThings Hub all work as Matter Controllers. The SmartThings V3 and the Aeotec/SmartThings Hub both have a Thread Border Router built in so you do not need to add another device to be able to connect to Matter devices.
@@BudsSmartHome Thanks so much for the reply, I really appreciate it. I don't have a SmartThings hub. I only have the Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen, 2021 release) (and another), a Phillips Hue hub, and this Smart Plug Gen2. Alexa finds and controls the plug easily, but I cannot view the energy usage through the Alexa app. Do I need a SmartThings hub for this, or some other software? I downloaded the Smart Things app on my cellphone but it does not see the plug.
Absolutely! You can trigger an automation based on whether the plug’s wattage matches a designated wattage, or the wattage is equal to or above, or wattage is equal to or below, or wattage is within a particular specified range. Does this answer your question?
@@BudsSmartHome absolutely does! I have a tp-link PM plug that for some reason I can’t get edge drivers to find it(or any of my other tp-link devices)even though the right driver is installed on my hub and therefore no routines to work off of PM. I’ll use ur link to grab these. Thanks again
Using their plugs, door and motion sensors. Working great with ZHA in HA. I hope they make a wall light dimmer soon.

Very well done. Have you had a chance to try the Aqara smart plug for energy monitoring in SmartThings?
Thanks! No, I have not tried the Aqara
Smart plug.
Thanks Bud for your Third Realty review of their line of automation devices that work with SmartThings!
You bet Dan.
Buds the man !!!
Thanks Jai!

@stephaneboisjoli1320 - Yes, you need either a SmartThings v3 hub or a Aeotec hub found here amzn.to/44JyR9X or here amzn.to/3XY0UQ9
Thanks bud for the video. Can this plug be used to trigger routines in ST from power monitoring features such as amp draw?
