Was fortunate to see them live at Paris in 2010! Transported to a very different world for 2 hours. Absolute state of trance!!! United Snakes used to be their opening honours for their concerts to build up the balance....
This is blocked/band for viewing in the US on UA-cam.... So the US government absolutely loath Massive Attack & the band would say that's a job well for having achieved. Art is resistance... & that's why it would seem a government Is more scared by the act & influence of art as a weapon... than the band is of the politics of power. They made their point in black and white, & this shouldn't be banned or blocked for any reason of the song to be anti political etc for its lyrical content to. It's not banned in the UK... that side of the world would have shouted back loudly if you tried to block massive attack from being allowed to be art.

There is a documentary/mockumentary easily found on UA-cam etc. That is about, who Banksy the artist really is?... The doco scales down to the few, who are the most obvious or likely choices? 3D from Massive Attack & another one of his friends, a street artist he also grew up with from the same areas... is another of those who are just as likely to be Banksy???... Imo it's all of them? & that is how as a collective of minds & artists. They fool us & the establishment to keep on going & getting away with establishing art as resistance in society. The US government did not like or want Massive Attack touring the world for their LP '100th Window' at the time. Mainly because the Band, & the art of Banksy in that time... We're not afraid of attacking the politics & agenda of war & propaganda of that time. I remember the media at the time. Australia was being toured as one of the 1st countries to tour. About a month before the tickets were selling for it. The US gov were trying to media spin a story about 3D being caught out for having child porn on his pc. The real story was they had been hacking him... & they tried to spin that on him, because all they had or could use to be spin. Was from material he was collaborating with & for a documentary about children caught up in the sex trafficking world & black market. I remember reading & seeing both sides of this play in & out within less than 2wks at the time. I still know friends tho at the time who rejected him or seeing the concert then because of the initial concern & spin of it being a media story b4 the tour... 3D was very quick, smart, open & honest for backing himself up & making the us government back off quickly too... He could prove they had only made up something from nothing & he was being hacked by there government. The so called child porn was nothing more than legal footage & cuts of a doco he was involved with for scoring music too. I read both sides of it. Imo... Yes they as a government are threatened by the artists, &/or art. This video is when art becomes a weapon of mass disruption... Art is resistance?
Every system works on self-preservation.. even when the facts indicate that they have a negative effect with acting on every aspect of social interactions and ecosystem preservation.. system values disorder.
Thats what i admire about del naja so much. Hes never been afraid to speak his mind on anything political. Even to the ire of the world around him. Every war, protest or uprising, hes always had something to say. So, even if the band havent released any significant music in years (close to a decade since the last proper EP, in fact), he (and daddy g) still manages to remain relevant, or, at the very least, to me.
Massive attack has the perfection to create music so dark and eery yet really soft and dreamy at the same time.
