This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for the info! I’m in the south. So freezing doesn’t occur a lot. My pool automatically turns on if temps reach below 34°.
But I am worried what the will happen if I lose power. We have an Arctic blast coming soon.

First, Merry Christmas! Second, thank you for sharing your pool maintenance wisdom.
What????? Geez Louise! If you are servicing swimming pools with all those pumps and valves our swimming pool plumbing design should be a cake walk for you! We got hit with that Canadian Arctic blast last night. I hope I make it through tonight without further damage. We live in the northwest Florida panhandle: we never had to winterize our swimming pool. I should have listened to my senses, but like out of our past winters I thought we would be okay. I am trying to learn the name and purpose of approximately three foot-(3-ft) long by one-quarter inch-(1/4-in) black PVC tube that connects from the pump discharge pipe (?) to the return pipe either before or after a Jandy flow valve for the jets [the purpose of this tube is a question?].
