- Meteors are really deadly now, and can penetrate through many layers of reinforced walls per meteor. This method protects against dozens of meteor strikes in the same location.

I could see sabotage objectives becoming a thing if we had a few more important things to a station like that.
Imagine if the asteroid was detected and coming towards the station and gaining speed and we need to send a team out defend the area it is going to hit from it and try to minimize damage.
Would be really cool and give people time evacuate and everything and it could do even more damage as it is not just randomly hitting places.
Antags could even use the situation to their advantage.

SS13 meteor shields are borderline useless UNLESS you are trying to end the round by emagging them.

You know, the new meteors mean that SOMEHOW, Core is the safest station now, as its singularity can not be meteor striked.
Core was always the best station
seems to forget that cargo will indeed throngle you if you ask for them to spend money on something that isn't the grand lottery
fun fact: emitter bolts (the beam they shoot) don't have to strike the field generators to charge them, if a bolt flies NEXT to a field gen it will still charge. you can have one emitter charge many field generators so long as the bolt flies next to each one.

Quite a few people are mentioning an active meteor defence system. There happens to be an older server with an anti-meteor CIWS. I think it was called Mining Station.
I think I'll just stick with layered grilles for now. This makes me wonder if pennetration is purely tile, or health based.
Pretty sure it's tile based, or the meteors would definitely not penetrate a ton of reinforced wall.
Reinforced wall have a ton of health.
This actually helps alot, compared to without thr defense it would singuloose often, this helps :)
Also a question, did you miss the CM14 playtest.. I hope you didn't, it was much better than last time.

@@Liltenhead look forward to the next time, the balance was pretty good and i was surprised on how well the servers ran with 250+ people on them! I heard they got some good data for upstream optimization, maybe we'll see even bigger servers in the future!

Might take an entire shift to do on some stations, gets thats actually good job content for engi though tbh
Could you make a guide on AME overclocking? Grasshopper often goes without power for 30 minutes, or forever. when you can simply weld and rebuild the core every 10 minutes when the engine screen is yellow.
why not just use singularity lol

How about an anti meteor shield that Engi and Salvage have to team up to make that surrounds the station?
Would prevent Cargo and salvage from performing their duties, thus untenable.

Honest question, as an SS13 player, which codebase is SS14 most similar to? I've watched some of your videos and am curious. It looks similar to the TG codebase, but I'm just wondering if you have any input. Thanks! Keep up the cool content!
does singularity consume a turned on emitter? maybe its possible to contain a max level singularity with expanding the barriers

There should be meteor rounds. Featuring increasing frequent meteor strikes.
i love the meteor system but it is way to often there should make reinforced walls stronger because on Lowpop after 2 showers the whole station is fucked
Penetrating through five walls is a bit overtuned.
Why are the projectors (containment field emitters) seemly immune to meteors? are they not doing enough contact damage?
Because they dont have destructable compenant. Anything that doesnt have that compenant is indestructible.
For the same reason they're immune to singularities. No one would like a 1 tile gap in their powered containment field.
Extra note: if you roll a Urist Mcmeteor storm
you are fucked
they deal 2k damage and go thru half the station like immovable rods
no shield will stop them

Ever since the meteor update the wizard servers have just been endless hell, 5 minutes of power until we run out and then meteors hit and it shit spirals. Idk why this update now after the trailer at the games show when you get a influx of new players. Having every round be 40 minutes of no power and slowly dying is just shit
