I have a question, could you bring instruments to keep in your room? I am a guitarist, and I do not think I could go without guitar for that long, it would feel terrible. Maybe even some light recording equipment idk. I feel like antarctica would inspire some music that I would like to keep to myself for memorabillia
Antarctica is one of the most important, isolated, and incredible deserts in the world. I fell in love with the continent when I was a youngster, and the ball kept rolling ever since. If there was a cure for my chronic pain disease, I would absolutely take the pledge to do work in Antarctica. I would of taken part in mostly meteorology and environmental sciences if I was physically able to make the job. But life had other plans, and I am more than proud of anyone who does this most important work for our planet. Good luck everyone!❤
@@EverythingAntarctica And thank YOU for all of the hard work you guys do. If it wasn’t for those important pacts between nations to protect Antarctica, we wouldn’t have all of this incredible information about Antarctica today, with incredible minds working every second to paint us all this amazing, colourful and fascinating picture into this very humbling, miunderstood, and unforgiving world at the feet of our planet. To me; Antarctica is circulatory system of our Planet Earth. It harbours some of the most unique and rarest phenomenons and lifeforms (microscopic included) in all of the planet. And honestly? Thank goodness it isn’t populated like New York or like Beijing. If we did that, Antarctica would not survive the next 100 years if we were to be honest about our species and our often destructive habits. Sorry for the long response, I just have so much respect and pride for this continent to the point where people often find it annoying hahaha!
I wish I could go work in Antarctica, but I have a gazillion health issues from an autoimmune disorder. They would hit the reject button and send me down the trapdoor to the trash dump in a heartbeat! 😂😂 But best of luck to anyone who plans to try to go! ❤❤
@ryanmaris1917 yeah I'm in the States. It would be bad all around for me to try to spend more than a few days in Antarctica. Because I'm also on dialysis.
This ticks all the box's for me ....and has given me more incentive and drive to fulfill my destiny.....I will be in Antarctica soon ...god wills it and it is my destiny ❤thank you guys👍

The psychological screening does play a part but, more importantly, the recruiters have lots of experience building teams and it's evident early on if someone isn't a good fit or shouldn't go down. Most issues that do arise will happen in summer when getting people in and out is easier so usually if people play up, they will be out on the next flight. Thanks for the question
So i am working on a degree in chemical engineering. Going to graduate soon. Its a 4 year degree from uw madison. I ve looked on indeed at many of the jobs. Do you think its worth applying with this degree in a year or so ?

Soooo why can’t you explore there without being in trouble? And how do you even get in trouble other then like losing a limb or death?
We are free to leave the base pretty much whenever we want. We don’t get in trouble
Do you know how you de-ice the aircrafts down there?
Good question, we will have to make sure we cover this one in an episode and get you an answer
Do they have any security positions
Not specifically but the skills would be transferable
is there psychological tests that is part of the interview process
Yes, but it varies between countries
If I go to work Antarctica, are there any uniform requirements or things I should keep in mind for the clothes I bring?

What happens if violence or harrassment occurs within the group, while on assignment? Psychological should weed this issue out but nothing's perfect

Most places will require that you have at least ~5 years experience before they will hire you. Keep it in mind for the future though!
Is weed legal in Antarctica?
Can an 11-year-old kid live with us while both my husband and I work there?
Unfortunately not
