Asa (Ah•saa) and Ruka (Roo•kaa) is the first Japanese trainees in YG Entertainment to be debuting. There is also two Thai members Chiquita (Chee•key•ta) and PHarita (Paa•ri•ta) which are strong singers. Ahyeon (eye•yawn) is an all-rounder which can sing, rap, and dance. Rora (Row•rah) is the one that can put emotion into her singing even though she is only 14. Haram (Ha•raam) is a soulful singer. Since the agency is based in South Korea and they have to learn to speak and sing in Korean, they are considered a K-pop group. "Scars to Your Beatiful" is a cover that shows all 7 of them together and gives us a taste of what the group will be like together.
Fun fact: since you like rap, there are 4 members that will have a rap position upon debut. Ofcourse Asa and Ruka, but also Ahyeon which can rap too and shown a little in her performance. Recently yg confirmed Chiquita which we only saw singing, that she is learning how to rap and we might see her rap one day in a song!

And the positions says who are better in certain areas Jennie is Main rapper, lead vocalist Lisa is Main dancer, lead rapper Rosé is main vocalist, Lead dancer Jisoo is the visual, lead vocal Visual means some one in the group need to fit the korean beauty standard Due to position as a vocalist jennie is also in vocal line so in major songs the raps are done by lisa it is also for distributing the lines fairly among group members. This is kpop ‘cause is produced by a Kpop entertainment company (YG ent.) and 3 of the 7 members are Koreans, all of them have gone through the korean system training (rap, dance, vocal, acting training) and well this is all set up in the korean music industry. They have this specific system of giving the members specific positions within the group, the system promotion of every comeback and songs, having a lightstick. Now it is common introducing foreign members, there are Chinese, Japanese, Thai idols in the kpop industry. YG have always had kpop groups (boygroups and girlgroups) but with Blackpink being a global artist right now maybe they would point to the global market instead of the kpop industry but we certainly don’t know, the girls haven’t even debuted yet so we should wait and see what is YG planning. Jpop industry is a little bit different from the kpop industry, specially in term of idols, as far as I know singers in general give more importance to live performances, idols too but even if they are not that skilled the Japanese public don’t give to much attention to that and focus more in the development of the idols and cheering them among their careers. The Japanese music industry is not global-focused but they are doing it now once they have seen the kpop success.
