Just want to say I think bran might be right and S12 could be a make it or break it season for the show
Some TN did come back but it seems like an equal number of TL must have left because the numbers this season are pretty much the same as the numbers they got for S10. So like there was no big influx of new E/N fans that gave the show a ratings bump. And if HM ok’d this flip to improve ratings, it didn’t have the outcome they wanted 😬.
In actuality the numbers this season might actually be indicative of something worse and maybe fans getting tired of the show. This season aired in its prime spring slot instead of the summer slot (like last season) which is where shows go to die and yet they still got the similar viewing numbers and demo. They were unable to add anyone new due to flip or better airing time slot. So it’s almost like saying the show has no life. It’s barely surviving and IMO hallmark is keeping it around until they can find a good substitute.
Also if Chris McNally and Lucas Bouchard tags trending week in week out, each Sunday, was indicative of anything, it’s that the show needs both sets of fans if they really want a ratings boost. And well 99% of TL fans hated his storyline this season .. loved Chris McNally performance, they all think he stepped up but found the story too dark/depressing. I have never seen a show that is so keen on alienating a portion of its fandom .. whether it was TN fans post-s8 or TL fans now. If they give Lucas a worthy storyline and a new romantic interest they could get some of them back.
