Making a job a lot harder than it is. It looked like that ball had some flat sides on the base & all the balls I have do. Just get a big crescent wrench on the bottom to hold it while tightening it up. I’ve used a pipe wrench before on the base but not on the ball.

It's cool. Wrap a piece of an old rubber inertube around ball, grab with pipe wrench, hit it with a impact. Done, proper tools for a proper job

Gotta weld the trailer hitch.....must be a shortage on pipe wrenches vise grips and channelock pliers lol
