A-MEN. They all come down here and drove our property taxes up 400%. I had rental houses with property taxes around 800 each. After the yankee covid refugees come. My taxes went to 3800 plus each then covid government tenant protection rackets led my 6 tenants to refuse to pay rent....I evicted every last one of them-it was hilarious cause the tenants and the government hyped it up that evictions were froze...WRONG!!!

This brings up more problems for other states whose voters wisely chose to not make their states like CA, NY, and other similar places. The problem is that when they arrive in a state like Florida in large numbers, they drive up prices for everything making it increasingly difficult for anyone who is not rich. That's how free markets work. People and capital are free to move to where wages and taxes are lower (for capital) and cost of living is lower (for people). This will help the blue states become more affordable and the red states less so. i foresee NYC, Chicago, SF, and perhaps LA becoming state and federally subsidized urban areas. This exodus of wealth will impact these cities' tax revenue to the point that they will not be able to provide basic city services: police, fire, emergency services, sanitation, utilities, etc. without help from their state government and the Federal government. Detroit was the harbinger of what will happen in these urban areas, but these will be worse.

I really want to move but my son, who got into a bad dirt bike accident he has a bad TBI and I take care of him so he has to be by his daughter, she has autism and her mom won't move because of her husband, everything is a mess. would love to do the same. Small Business owner in Eastern PA. I have lived here all my life (45 years old), and have been to 43 States. My traveling era for work was mostly 2000 to about 2019. I used to tell everyone who asked me 'How's Pennsylvania? what's it like?" that it's better than some places, worse than others. Generic but true, still is for the most part. However, where i'm at the Exodus from NYC, Philly and North Jersey has become so prolific that I can literally tell immediately who is native to my hometown area in PA....and who 'transplanted' and let's just say more often than not I do not care for the majority of the 'Newbies' to my hometown

The cost of living here in San Diego is high and it was worth the elevated cost of living because of the weather and natural beauty but I’m leaving because of people defecating, urinating and masturbating(yes, for real) on the streets and sidewalks and THAT makes it not worth it anymore
Dunno how the numbers play out in Minnesota but the politicians have gone crazy with their new liberal laws and higher taxes…I’ve taken two trips to Iowa to look things over at four different cities, and their common sense policies are looking very attractive…Minnesota is no longer the state that I grew up in…

Fyi, I'm a grad degreed Aerospace Engineer, recently retired, so no rube, but I have lived my entire life, except for a stint in The Corps and my undergrad college, in Florida. I just want to say I have seen some crazy property tax increases the last 5 years with the influx of new immigrants (whether American or not)...it has stressed our roads and schools and medical infrastructure. I wish the blue states would fix their broken justice systems and schools so the mass influx would stop. We are bursting at the seams.
How long will TX, FL, TN and destination states remain affordable once they're flooded with new residents. Sure they want low taxes and regulations at first. Eventually they miss the level of government services they had and return to the voting habits that made the home state unaffordable.

Here's how this works: sure, those state and city governments have huge holes in their budgets that they can't fill, both because of shrinking tax bases and the fact that they can't deficit-spend. So their left-wing public officials go crying to their left-wing counterparts in the Federal government. They, in turn, declare another unrelated "emergency," like a recession or a pandemic. That enables them to push an "emergency spending" bill of around a trillion dollars. About 10% or 15% of that money goes to its advertised purpose (help-out the citizens); the rest goes to favored constituencies like those city and state governments, public-employee retirement bailouts, and businesses and NGO's that employ a ton of political supporters. Problem solved until the next crisis in five years or so; rinse and repeat. Your Tax Dollars At Work.

@@TheJohnbjunior I know, and hate to see it. I lived in San Francisco on and off from my senior year in highschool to the early 2000s and watched it change.
Since I last lived there about 18 years ago the city really did a nose dive, a real heartbreaker considering what it once was.
Reminds me of when Seattle and King County bragged Boeing couldn't move out. Lack of wisdom and practical knowledge is a requirement to run for office.

Hardworking tax payers with jobs nationwide will still have their federal taxes going to pay for political decisions made in these urban centers. All blue city elected leaders have learned to play their victim card to sympathetic federal politicians and when they do, the money will keep flowing to them in spite of their population (and tax) losses.

I live in a small town in Northern California. I bring home a little more than 60k per year and I cannot afford to buy a house here. 60k after taxes and deductions and can't afford to buy a house here. Houses that were 185k just 6-7 years ago are now 400k . It's ridiculous

Sadly, the people who voted for these destructive policies are the ones who remain behind and will continue to vote for the same policies. It is a downward spiral.
It is analogous to a dam bursting. But this a calamity for the whole country, not just certain cities, as the fall-out has not actually even started yet. Sooner or later, these economic policies of public unions and welfare and all this is going to stop, and then we are gonna see real economic collapse.
These people are wrong. California is not losing population. There are more people moving to California than the number of people leaving. The net effect is that California is experiencing the largest increase in its population in its history.
